"The Lochy was fine for what it was for us--a very casual, very basic pub dinner after a relatively long travel day from Edinburgh--but it was probably the most average food we had of nine or ten days of mostly great eating in Scotland. Getting here was the most special, maybe. Having driven a car on the left for the first time ever on this day, wanting to have a beer or two, and staying in an apartment in nearby Corpach, we didn't really want to drive on this evening. On a beautiful evening, we investigated the Corpach waterfront (the end (the beginning? of the Caledonian Canal and took in the unbelievable views along the waterfront path (the Corpach shipwreck, Ben Nevis, the loch, and so on , and we wandered on over to Caol and the Lochy. (We returned via the canal path itself; you can jump on just across the street from the Lochy. I see from Tripadvisor that plenty of tourists get to the Lochy, but it sure seemed like a locals' spot on the night we were there, with a number of families present. Although the outside of the place suggests that it might contain a dim warren of rooms, it's actually a couple of brightly lit larger rooms with a bar in the middle, where you order your food and drinks. Venison burger for me was pretty tasty--although it came only with caramalized onions and goat cheese, which left things a little dry--and the wife's fish and chips were OK. Like I say above, the food was fine, but not especially memorable. Several beers were on draft, and everything was reasonably priced. 3.5 stars."

Good food, great bar. We shared wee starters of haggis, cheese, and cheesy garlic bread. Then we had the special; chicken stuffed with haggis. Our friends had fish and chips and steak and black pudding pie. Noisy and fun nice pub experience. View menu

Our party of nine had a great experience here. You instantly feel the warmth when entering the restaurant and the staff is friendly and accommodating. The food was prepared well and tasted delicious. If you're looking for a nice, authentic meal, check it out during your time in Fort William.

What a fun and friendly place. A good menu with interesting dishes (I had a salad with slender strips of spicy steak and lots of veggies) while my wife went for a steak sandwich that looked delicious. This is a pub with all the laughter and chatter that goes with it and I recommend it to anyone looking for a cold drink and good meal at the end of the day.

This place is a good choice for dinner. I recommend the vegetarian burger. It's a vegetarian nacho burger that comes with fries and a side of onion rings. The burger itself is juicy and stacked high between two burger buns. It's tasting and filling. The ambiance of the restaurant is mostly family friendly. There are tables with large with booth-styled seats, so it's not ideal for an intimate dinner date. But if you need to grab a bite with the whole fam, you won't go wrong with this place. View menu

Came here on a wet and windy evening and enjoyed a great dinner. We came early (before 6) as our B&B advised everything quite full, and were given a nice corner table next to a couple of regulars who filled us in on local sights. Staff were friendly and service was good. Started with garlic bread and a pint, then I had the steak and black pudding pie while my wife had the Mongolian beer. Both very tasty and served piping hot. Cleaned the plates! A sundae for desert was a good way to finish. Regular bar in the other room was crowded and noisy seems like a popular meeting spot. Altogether a very pleasant experience

Two haggis crackers, Black pepper fries, Two Steak and Black Pudding pie, Steak baguette two espresso coffee. As we arrived at Caol, Fort William in a ravenous state; we were greeted by the friendly staff and allocated a table even though they were (almost) fully booked. Without further ado, we picked two Haggis Crackers, Black Pepper Fries as starters to share, a couple of Steak and Black Pudding Pie and a Steak Baguette. Wholehearted food indeed! The tasty Haggis and the crunchy Black pepper fries really helped the cause of the hungry (AKA us) Steak and Black Pudding pies had lots of big and tender beef chunks ... a great surprise considering that more often than none, in some gastro-pubs,...
