"I was curious to check it out, as I’m not a huge fan of wings and ribs, but I wanted to see what the buzz was all about and experience what many people enjoy around the world, even if it meant venturing to Clapham. The restaurant is situated under the overground and has a bright, fresh atmosphere since it just opened on Monday. Inside, you’ll find a few lime green booths and large communal tables lined against a wall with a chrome railing underneath. The kitchen and restrooms are towards the back, and the place is bustling with energy. Of course, cocktails are on the menu. Based on a recommendation from my favorite waiter (shoutout to Stef), I ordered the watermelon and ginger martini, a smooth concoction made with Skyy vodka that had a refreshing kick from the ginger. Another recommendation was the Herr Martinez, a delightful cocktail crafted with Opihr (a spicy oriental gin), Luxardo maraschino liqueur, Dubonnet, and orange bitters. For starters, we tried the deep-fried mac and cheese bites, which were indulgently rich and melted in your mouth, especially when paired with classic tomato salsa. The team also shared chicken wings (both BBQ and spicy) with blue cheese sauce and a pulled pork dish, which wasn’t as impressive as I had hoped. The pork was so moist that the egg ended up almost cooked inside, instead of the rich, runny yolk I had expected. Then came the serious meat course. We were served two enormous racks of ribs: baby back ribs (which immediately reminded me of a scene from Austin Powers) and spare ribs. As someone who typically avoids ribs, I was pleasantly surprised; these generous portions were served on a wooden board and featured tender meat that fell right off the bone without being overly sticky. We also ordered the Spicy Kiss burger, which was a visually striking creation piled high with meat, pickles, and cheese, and came with a steak knife for easy eating. It was so massive that it was hard to take a proper bite without some serious maneuvering. I opted for the Po'Boy sandwich since I had indulged in meat earlier that week, and I wanted something a little lighter. While the baked calamari and garnishes looked appealing on the menu, they fell short on flavor. However, where the Chicago Rib Shack truly excels is in the sides. We chose the “wobble-laf,” essentially a deep-fried heart attack, and it was just as indulgent as it sounds. The "manslaw," a zesty take on coleslaw with jalapeños, was a great improvement over its bland counterpart. We also had natural fries and the truffle mac and cheese, which was the standout dish of the day—rich, cheesy, and infused with truffle oil, making it something I would happily eat every day regardless of calories. To finish, we indulged in cocktails made with Prosecco, vodka, and elderflower, alongside espresso martinis that paired perfectly with the vanilla cheesecake (bland), chocolate brownie (deliciously chewy), and the warm pecan pie. We had a sweet tooth among our team and didn’t aim to be the most discerning dessert testers, but we managed to enjoy our selections nonetheless. All things considered, this place is a positive experience. The atmosphere was lively (the music was excellent), the staff was consistently wonderful, and I'd definitely return for that mac and cheese. Would I make it a regular spot? I'm not entirely sure, as I'm still on the fence about the ribs."

"I have been quite reluctant to write this but its been bugging me all week. Me and my friend came here for drinks on Saturday we had a table booked in the evening. Upon greeting we was told we could not bring drinks from downstairs (cain and grain) to upstairs which was fine so i went back downstairs to take the drinks back when a staff member at the desk at the bottom told me who ever told you that is talking rubbish and then he escorted me back upstairs with the drinks and spoke to someone then everything was fine we was seated and given menus. A male came over he was slim build and had a tash/beard we asked some advice on some of the cocktails he was very impatient gave no advice and he had a really bad attitude and told us the description is in the cocktails, my friend asked for 5mins to decide as he dosnt handle pressure like that. 5mins goes by guy comes back i order us both same cocktails. Cocktails arrive we cheers then the guy who serves us comes back with the bill on the table which we are confused as we didnt ask so i took the bill to him asked him why he got the bill his response was and i quote “im finding you both difficult to serve and quite frankly i do not like the look of you” i was in shock so i asked to see the manager straight away i told her the story she went in the back to talk to him or someone and came back out and said we have to leave as he feels uncomfortable now. Honestly never in my life have i felt so embarrassed and in shock how a premises like this can treat customers. Looking back through the reviews of this place it seems a common pattern of rude staff which is a shame as it seems a cool little place to drink. Let me know when under new management or you hire some staff who have a slight interest in the customers needs il give it another shot until then i highly advise people stay away and i do not recommend, however i do recommend cain and grain."

"From the moment we walked in, we were not greeted or acknowledged, even though I had made a reservation for a table. Eventually, we were seated and ignored until I had to ask for a menu. We ordered food and drinks, but there was a long wait for our drinks to arrive and even longer for our food. The first burger looked good but was missing the fries, which came later. The burger was called the "Big Mic" and was described as a double patty burger. However, to our surprise, it was just a single patty cut in half and placed in the bun. When we questioned this, the waitress became defensive and called the manager over. The manager tried to justify the single patty and offered to refund one burger, which was not acceptable as we had ordered two. We were then given the option to only pay for our drinks or return the food, but we decided to eat what we had since we had already waited so long. When we tried to use a discount card we had, we were told it wasn't valid because it didn't include alcohol, even though it clearly stated 25% off the total bill. The waitress's attitude was unacceptable and rude throughout the entire ordeal. The manager eventually agreed to adjust the bill according to the discount offer, and we paid and left. The waitress continued to be rude and even swore at my partner as we were leaving. Overall, the service was poor, and we would not recommend this restaurant to anyone."
