"Popped in tonight, totally unplanned and just driving by back from Gosport First impressions were of a proper locals pub at the heart of its community but at the same time welcoming to strangers. We had a lovely couple of meals, classic pub food done very well and representing good value in these challenging times. We joined in the meat raffle too no winning ticket tho ! , looked to be some good meat selections and some very happy winners to boot. We ended our visit sharing an Elton Mess which was excellent, to the point that my wife insists I will have to get my own next time as she IS NOT sharing again !!! A well deserved 5* from us."

"Sat upstairs, no atmosphere, sticky table that hadn't been cleaned from previous, no chance of getting it sprayed over. Very poor ploughman's lunch, piece of cheese and piece of pate small enough for a child, and very small portions of everything else. Eat some of it and left the rest, left the pub and had a bag of chips down the road. Between two other meals and drinks, spent between £40 to £50 never again. Price per person: £40–50"

"All the staff were really helpful and friendly. That was until one of the kitchen staff members came out of the kitchen and started ranting and shouting at the manager/ supervisor? He had simply asked the woman to go on her break (as he has with other staff too) , and she began shouting demands at the man in front of us as we ate our food. This is totally unacceptable and disgusting from the staff member. The manager just seemed blazay about it and ignored her. Just saying, Go on your break. I suppose he was trying to remain calm, which was good, but she needed to be sent away from paying customers trying to enjoy their food. It doesn 't matter what your issue is. Take it away from the shop floor. The rest of the staff were really hard working and really helpful."

"My wife and I just had another amazing dining experience at Owens. We arrived early at 6:30 and were seated in the busy bar area since we hadn't made a reservation. The atmosphere was beautiful with lovely lighting. We both enjoyed the chicken liver parfait as a starter, which was delicious. My wife had the risotto and I chose the sausage and mash from the specials board. The dish came with black pudding, mushy peas, and two homemade onion rings with a rich gravy. Both meals were absolutely delicious. For dessert, we shared a plate which included a large slice of house-made Bakewell tart and my favorite, the lemon posset, which had the perfect balance of sweet and tart with a silky consistency. The service at Owens is always top-notch, the staff were professional, friendly, and excellent representatives of the business. We have never had a bad experience here and will continue to return as the meals are great value for money and always deserving of 5 stars. Thank you to everyone involved, we will be back."
