"Andrew also clearly explained the ordering process and mentioned that we could use the app if we were uncomfortable ordering at the bar, which was very accommodating. He checked on us two or three times during our meal, remaining polite and friendly throughout. Once we ordered our food, we took a moment to appreciate our surroundings. The restaurant had a clean and comfortable atmosphere, with beautifully decorated tables and dust-free artwork adorning the walls. It was evident that the owner takes great pride in the establishment, and that pride extends to the kitchen as well. The food took about 30 minutes to arrive, which reinforced our expectations of freshness and quality from the moment we entered. The fish and chips were absolutely incredible – the best we've had in a long time. The fish was perfectly crispy, the batter was evenly cooked and flavorful, and the fish was wonderfully flaky. The chips were also great, although the double portion looked almost identical to the single portion since we planned to share it; we found that the servings were more similar than we expected. Overall, we enjoyed excellent service and high-quality food throughout our meal, leaving us satisfied even into the following morning. I've already recommended this place to my family and friends, and I plan to make it a regular stop. Thank you, Andrew, and the entire team – Andrew deserves a raise!"

"About midnight on Tuesday 20 Aug 2013, Nick Nairn tweeted that he was going to have a pop up at the Granite City Bar Grill where he's setting up in Sept/Oct this year. The menu was a choice of 4 starters, 4 main and 4 desserts for £37. We were shown to our table and introduced to our waitress seamlessly. Drinks were served timeously. The food order was taken a short time later and then the wait for our starter of about 20 minutes. I had monkfish muscles with puy lentils in a broth. My wife had the cheese soufflé with crispy pancetta. My fish was cooked to perfection (the best I'd ever had) the broth was tasty too, however the broth was far too powerful for the delicate fish and that was a disappointment. My wife's cheese soufflé was good but no wow factor. Main for me when it finally arrived around 3 minutes after the starter was lamb, dauphinoise potatoes, with peas and broad beans. The potatoes were creamy and tasty, the lamb tender but the whole thing was slightly on the cod side and served on a cold plate the runner beans I think could have been planted and hey would have grown. The presentation was also uninspiring. My wife had chicken, truffle potatoes and green beans. The chicken was moist and the potatoes/beans a good accompaniment but as with the lamb, he presentation was sloppy. Desert after I asked My Nairn to get a waitress to take our order, was for me the show stopper. I had apple tarte tatin with vanilla ice cream and it was lovely and crisp with a slight bite to the apple and a generous amount of caramel Mmmmmmm. My wife had the chocolate tart with caramel and crème fresh. Not being a desert person I assisted my lovely wife and thought it was a good tart but not enough of a chocolate punch. Mr Nairn came and spoke to us agreeing with some of the points made and informed us that there were issues in the kitchen which would receive a full revamp of the kitchen, dining area and that all staff would be undergoing training. I would have expected a little more and my overall thoughts are that it was a bit over priced for what was received and that as a test audience he might even have offered a substantial discount on the night as I know the food did not meet with his approval. That said there was enough promise to bring me back again once the refurb is complete."

"--- We had a wonderful dining experience that I want to share honestly and in detail. On Friday, July 15th, we celebrated my partner's birthday at this beautiful restaurant, and I was truly impressed by both the quality of the food and the service provided by the staff. Upon arrival, we were quickly shown to our table, which was stunningly decorated. Shortly after being seated, our drink orders were taken, followed by our food orders. The staff informed us that there was a large party in the café area, which might result in a slight delay compared to their normal service. Despite this heads-up, it didn't take long for our appetizers to arrive. We had ordered three starters to share, but only two were initially brought to the table. When the server asked if we needed anything else, I mentioned the missing third starter. There had been a mix-up, and it hadn't been prepared, but I appreciated their attentiveness. Mistakes can happen anywhere, and it's how they handle them that reflects the quality of a restaurant. We enjoyed the two appetizers we received, and the third one arrived shortly after, with the waitress sincerely apologizing for the error and informing us that we wouldn’t be charged for the delayed dish. I thought this was a lovely gesture and demonstrated how committed they are to keeping their customers happy, especially since we hadn’t expressed any dissatisfaction. All three starters were delicious, and the staff promptly cleared our plates. We were informed that there would be a 10-minute wait for our main courses, as the chefs were completing orders for the large party. I appreciated the communication again, which added to our positive experience. When the main courses arrived, they were absolutely delightful and served in generous portions! I’ve seen some negative comments about the dessert situation at this restaurant, which I think is a bit unfair. While there may not be a printed dessert menu, the waitstaff are more than happy to inform you about the available options. We chose to skip dessert, as we were already quite full from the main courses, but the desserts we did see being served looked incredible. Overall, we had a lovely visit, spending about two hours in the restaurant. We will definitely be returning in the future!"
