"There are not many venues in scarborough town centre with outdoor seating, so when the weather is hot many people head for the Courtyard. It was very busy when we arrived, and we couldn’t see a spare seat outside, we were just about to leave when a couple offered us their table as they were just leaving. My husband went to order drinks. As I sat there I couldn’t be my eyes! The outside decking was absolutely filthy, this place needs a good deep clean, cracked tiles in the toilets and a worn out sofa on the landing. Definitely in need of a re-furb!"

"we came here on a Saturday, were not too busy, but had a nice atmosphere and sat fast. many foods and drinks are suitable for every taste and the music played pleasant pop hits. I had the pizzerias to start, very tasty and had a real kick. for my head I had a steak 'n' cheese pizza also very good and would definitely recommend both. only negatiw was I that I had to tie the personal 3 times for my blue cheese down, but besides that we restored good service. we would come back here as we enjoyed it, the staff was friendly and the food was delicious."

"I've been coming here on Sundays for breakfast for a while and it's always been amazing, but the past 3 weeks it's been shocking, food has absolutely no taste, they have slightly made some changes with the quality of the food, you now just get 1 slice of toast, different sausages used. No longer get the biscuit with your coffee. Such a shame, as staff and pub are amazing. Time to find a new place."

"Trattoria 51, a lovely authentic Italian restaurant, both in food and family. Our party (6) originally had a booking at another restaurant for a birthday meal, however on entering that restaurant, the clientele and decibels were not appropriate for a family affair with two young daughters. Trying to book a table for 6 on a Saturday later afternoon early evening is difficult at the best of times, but running up to Xmas is very difficult. We arrived at Trattoria 51 and the team there were absolutely fantastic! The team were so welcoming, making my daughter's (who were cold and hungry at this stage) feel so comfortable. The team made space for our family party upstairs by making up the tables allocated for another party arriving later that evening. The food was prompt, very nice (pizza and pasta) and not too expensive, the ambience, and atmosphere just right to engage in conversation. I can only thank Trattoria 51 for saving the night for our party and confidently say that I will be returning to enjoy this lovely restaurant soon. Merry Christmas"

"I am writing this review on behalf of my grandparents they visited the establishment for the first time at the beginning of the month When entering they were greeted by a lady (Hannah) My grandparents are elderly now and they had heavy shopping bags which she instinctively helped carry for them she showed them to there table and took the time to explain everything (they’re hard of hearing) she even helped my grandad with his jacket! I would like to thank her as they were nervous due to the COVID situation But she went above and beyond with everything And now they go in every week! A*"

"My husband and I were visiting Poole and found The Thai Pantry on Google Maps. After having a look at the menu and salivating we decided to book a table. We were definitely not disappointed. The welcome is warm and friendly and the owner is happy to chat. The food is absolutely delicious and were we to be here another night we would most definitely be back. We can't recommend it highly enough. All we can say is how lucky the people of Poole are to have this on their doorsteps!"

"Found this pub on Tripadvisor when looking for somewhere after Longleat balloons. Don’t be put off by the website which is a bit clunky and out of date. We’d rung ahead to book, and received a warm welcome, and they had a good selection of draft beers and ciders. Outside was busy, there were plenty of tables inside, although we found one on the terrace. We were advised there might be a wait for food, so we ordered the bread and olives board to keep us going. This was nice, good chunky bread with tasty pesto and chilli jam. I had chicken and chips main, which was generous with lots of parmigiana and fresh veggies. My wife had pulled pork in a bun with chips and slaw, which was lovely, but she struggled to finish. It had a nice friendly atmosphere, lots of dogs (including ours) and staff were all very pleasant, albeit busy. Riverside setting is gorgeous on a summer evening, but I’d imagine it’s warm and cosy inside in the winter too. Seemed very popular with locals, but we were made to feel welcome. Recommended."

"Been coming here on and off for years. We came for a meal the other week. We are vegan and flagged when we ordered non meat fish items that we didn’t want any containing fish sauce. Instead of the deep fried vegetables in batter that we ordered, we were bought deep fried prawns in batter. My partner took a bite. He was horrified as has not eaten any meat or fish for many years. We were given a verbal apology and a replacement starter but I don’t thing the staff grasped just how terrible a thing this is to happen. It put us off the whole meal. Also I can’t help but think of people with allergies also. After asking for the bill, we were left with it for ages due to a large party arriving and we had to flag someone down so we could pay and leave. I would have liked to have seen a gesture of goodwill with regards to the bill, such as that item being removed. But it wasn’t. I am not one to ask or demand discounts, and prefer to see what’s forthcoming. I sent the restaurant a message via their website the following day as I don’t believe in writing reviews like this until you’ve properly communicated how you feel direct with the owner but I received no reply. So decided I will do a Trip Advisor review."

"Compact and bijou it may be, but both the welcome and service is warm and friendly. It 's not my first visit here, but this time I went here with my daughter, for her birthday, and her sons aged 9 and 14. The menus have a good selection of dishes, covering all tastes and requirements. Portion sizes are more than adequate (isn 't it amazing how you can be stuffed from your dinner, yet always find room for dessert? Chef was ok to swap out an item on the 14-year-old 's menu choice. I feel that 's important as, even with an adult, it can make or break the ordering of a dish. We left full, satisfied and with a doggy bag of food that we couldn 't eat because we just HAD TO have dessert. (You know how it is, lmao Definitely worth a visit. It 's above 'Sammies ' chip shop at the main traffic lights, diagonally across from Morrison 's in Cardonald (where you can easily park the car."

"Overall, it was a good and classic dining experience. I enjoyed a well-cooked sirloin steak with chips, salad, and delicious onion rings. The dessert was hearty and satisfying. The beer was great, but the Rioja wine did not stand out. The only downside was a confusing billing system that forced one person to foot the bill for the entire group. Additionally, the singer that started performing towards the end of our meal had to lower the volume of her music due to complaints from our group about being able to talk comfortably."

"I was staying at The Novotel, next door and was staying when the breakfast transitioned from in room to in the dining room. I have been up on a really long work trip working long days for 7 consecutive days. The staff were the only ones I really had interaction within the hotel. The guys were brilliant each morning, renegotiating a space that has been closed for so long. They made me feel valued, took their time to find out how I was, and to notice and remember what I liked. For example, this morning when I arrived, they had my soya milk and orange juice that I had requested each day ready for me. The little things to take the time to care make all the difference. Their interactions were professional and thoughtful. In what really is a challenging time with everything opening up, I wanted to pass on my thanks and compliments to the team and to thank them making my stressful work trip a little easier. Please do pass my thanks onto the girls."

"Located inside the Islay House hotel. This restaurant serves up top quality meals using only locally sourced ingredients and makes every item fresh to order. The menu changes depending on seasonal offerings and the head chef has zero problem with special requests. We opted for the rare steak salad and seafood chowder as starters and were blown away by the taste, presentation and fair pricing. For our main dishes, we both chose the pan-seared salmon. It was cooked to perfection and served atop a mound of mashed potatoes, a sprinkling of peas and came with a dozen mussels. Amazing. For dessert, the creme brûlée was divine; I would bathe in it if I could. The restaurant is open every day of the week and is open to both hotel guests and non-guests alike. The dining room is set inside the quaint hotel, built in 1677 and is served by candlelight. In other words, you won't find a better ambience."

"I have a gluten sensitivity and was excited to order a jacket potato when I went out to celebrate my birthday with friends, but was disappointed to find out that it was no longer on the menu. The only option available for me was gammon, which was not what I had hoped for. I will not be returning to the Haywain, even though it is conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from my house. "My in laws live in High Wycombe and for years we've enjoyed going for lunches at The Old Bell when we visit them. On this occasion it was Mother in Law's birthday. Booked but didn't realise it has been taken over from the previous owners. Greeting was friendly, starters came super quick and were tasty (Mackerel Pate and Chicken Wings). So far so good, 4 roasts and a Caesar Salad for mains. Worryingly, mains came out literally seconds after the starter plates were taken away. What a horrible sight (think of School Dinners); everything already served on the plate (no helping yourself at the table) awash with watery brown liquid (NOT a rich gravy), the yellow mush turned out to be Cauliflower Cheese, beef look alright but turned out chewy, roast potatoes weren't they were the shape of a frisbee and looked like they'd been fried on one side (and were now waterlogged sitting in the puddle of brown liquid) and the huge Yorkshire was burnt to a crisp (dark brown/black). The waitress came past asking if everything was OK, before I could answer she walked off. As she passed again, I explained I was not happy because of the above. She informed who I assumed was the owner/manager who asked if I wanted anything else, I refused (if that was the standard of food, no thanks and I had lost my appetite). Nobody finished the roasts but salad was finished. Desserts were 2 x ice cream (can't get that wrong) and Apple Pie and Custard which came upside down resulting in soggy pastry. On receiving the bill (over £150) I noted no concession at all for the appalling meals, I did raise this with a waitress who just walked past. I decided not to make a scene and upset the family so paid and left. Clearly the owner/manager who we walked past on leaving didn't care, she had our money by then, as no apologies were offered. Spoilt a Birthday treat and we will never ever return to The Old Bell. A real shame as we had been looking forward to returning to an old favourite."

"Very disappointed!! Brought starters had to go find cutlery. Brought mains whilst 2 guests were still eating starters. Food very mediocre and Luke warm. Had to move plates to an empty table as no staff came back to ask is the meal was ok, clear table, ask if we wanted dessert/coffees etc which we didn’t, by now just wanted to leave. Had money taken off the bill when we complained but unfortunately the damage had been done !! Will not be returning and on today’s experience would not recommend."

"The staff at this restaurant are wonderful - welcoming and friendly. They allow dogs in the bar area and even have a menu for dogs. Our puppy was given water without us needing to ask, and we noticed a treat being slyly slipped under our table. The meal was outstanding, as always, and we have never had a bad experience here. The prices are very reasonable. A special mention to Kerry, who is always delightful. 10/10 would recommend."

"I was unable to find a specific mention of this restaurant, but it is located within the Holiday Inn complex so I assumed this was the correct place. The restaurant is conveniently located off the A1 with plenty of parking, although the speed bumps at the entrance were a bit jarring. There were no signs indicating which party was located in each room, so we headed to where we had dined previously. The bar was not too busy and the drink prices were reasonable. There were no Christmas decorations in the room, but this may have been due to it being early in the season. The waiter in a 'tree rex' t-shirt added a festive touch. Our meal included tomato and basil soup for starters, followed by a turkey dinner with various sides. Dessert options included Christmas pudding or lemon tart with raspberry sorbet and whipped cream. We enjoyed a nice meal that ended with coffee and mints. We plan to visit again next year."

"We visited today for Sunday lunch. The pub is under new management and everyone was very friendly and keen to please. The roast beef was cooked pink, just how we like it. All the vegetables were cooked just right and were delicious. Although this was a generous helping and we were quite full, I managed to squeeze in a delicious apple crumble and custard. The crumble was tasty and crunchy and there was plenty of apple. As the weather was cool for the time of year, there was a welcoming fire in the pub. For a warmer day, there is a large sun terrace overlooking the river."
