"I was unable to find a specific mention of this restaurant, but it is located within the Holiday Inn complex so I assumed this was the correct place. The restaurant is conveniently located off the A1 with plenty of parking, although the speed bumps at the entrance were a bit jarring. There were no signs indicating which party was located in each room, so we headed to where we had dined previously. The bar was not too busy and the drink prices were reasonable. There were no Christmas decorations in the room, but this may have been due to it being early in the season. The waiter in a 'tree rex' t-shirt added a festive touch. Our meal included tomato and basil soup for starters, followed by a turkey dinner with various sides. Dessert options included Christmas pudding or lemon tart with raspberry sorbet and whipped cream. We enjoyed a nice meal that ended with coffee and mints. We plan to visit again next year."

I had a wonderful dinner with a wide variety of meal options at this restaurant. The pizza was truly outstanding and I highly recommend it.

The evening menu caters for all tastes. I tried the more unusual black pudding fritters which were plentiful and very tasty. Then the smoked salmon and prawn salad was far larger than even I could manage and again was beautifully done. Reasonably priced. View menu

I stayed at this hotel for the second time recently. I was so pleased that the receptionist welcomed me back. So often, even when returning to an hotel I have been to dozens of times, there is no recognition of the fact that you have decided to stay again in the same establishment. The receptionist was a perfect ambassador for the hotel.

I attended as a guest to a social event. The menu choices were preselected. Mass catering is never easy but they did a very good job. The liver parfait was a tasty starter. The pork main up to stratch but the cracking just not there. Well cooked veg and pleasant dessert. Overall good service . The surroundings are typical holiday inn but no complaints.

Having seen the same fixed menu for two days, one begins to question the seriousness with which the restaurant takes its dining experience. The food, I found, was mediocre and seemed to be prepared from pre-packaged ingredients. The service was decent, with staff appearing enthusiastic enough. However, the building and its furnishings looked worn and tired. If I were the manager, I would have considered leaving, unless of course, I no longer cared or had simply given up. View menu

We decided to give the hotel restaurant a try since it's only a 5-minute walk from our home. Before dining, we had a drink in the bar area, which felt a bit cold and unwelcoming. The food in the restaurant was decent, resembling typical pub fare and priced reasonably. The bright lighting in the dining area took away from the ambiance, in my opinion. However, the staff were fantastic - friendly and attentive. We would consider dining there again, but overall, there isn't much to draw in non-hotel guests.

I ate in this restaurant for a total of 8 nights over a 2 week period. The food in general is good, the pizzas, very good. Some of the food not so good, mushroom risotto was stodgy with little taste and the chef can't seem to cook the steaks right, one night one of my group asked for medium and got medium to well, another night another one of my group asked for medium rare and it was medium to well, that was disappointing. The pie and stew are great, very tasty and the meat very tender. The restaurant is a pleasant place to be and there's a lovely conservatory area. The servers are, in general, great. I would recommend eating here.

"The welcome we received was pleasant, although not very personal, and our details were not checked, which was surprising considering how difficult it was to secure a reservation. The restaurant is not licensed, so guests are welcome to bring their own drinks. My husband and I brought two bottles of champagne, but we were not offered an ice bucket and were given standard wine glasses instead of flutes. The food was served promptly, starting with an amuse bouche of butternut squash veloute with a creamy accompaniment served in egg boxes. The chef explained the dish himself, and it was delicious. The second course, an aged rice dish reminiscent of a soupy risotto flavored with parmesan and espresso, was my least favorite. I found it poorly presented and the coffee flavor didn't come through well. The third course, a beautifully cooked lamb cutlet finished on a barbecue outside, was accompanied by flavorful lentils. However, the broccoli that came with it was plain and could have used some additional flavor. The dish was not explained to us. The fourth dish, which I initially thought was eel, turned out to be smoked eel and was served with beetroot. This was one of my favorite dishes of the night. We were served two desserts: a warm chocolate foam with orange sorbet and a deconstructed rhubarb custard with pink meringue pieces, both of which were delicious. The bill was not presented to us, so we followed the lead of other guests who left cash on the table as they left. My husband had a nice chat with the chef, and I joined in after a visit to the restroom. The chef was very knowledgeable and skilled with flavors. Overall, I was a bit disappointed by the lack of personality in presenting and explaining each dish. The experience felt somewhat impersonal and lacked interest. I believe guest interaction is crucial, so my tip would be for the restaurant to take the time to engage with guests, even if it means spending less time in the kitchen. I did not give a perfect score due to the presentation and slightly underwhelming flavors in some dishes. I believe that in fine dining, every element of the dish should be bursting with flavor. Despite this, we had an enjoyable evening and would return if we are able to secure a reservation."
