"Dreambakes staff are very welcoming and was nice to see a that most menu options had a vegan alternative. I had a oat milk flat white, was great to see they use local speciality coffee such as Darkwoods from Huddersfield and they showed knowledge in making the coffee. Lovely latte art to. For my meal I had a spicy cheese toastie on sourdough. The alternative to make this vegan was to swap out the usual cheese they use to a smokey one. Arrived very well present with extras such as salad leaf, slaw and crisps. I did feel they cheese in the toastie was a little on the spare side and it didn't really melt, could definitely taste the smoke through the cheese which I loved. I don't know why but unless the venue is full vegan I don't always trust items such as pasta as it came on my children's plates to who had ham sandwiches. Overall I was pleased. I also say they did a few vegan cakes such as a banoffee shortcake and choco concrete. Also nice to see they sell the coffee beans to and have guest coffees. It's great to see more vegan friendly places in Doncaster"

This place is a hidden gem with a friendly staff that definitely deserves more advertising. The coffee is excellent, and all the cakes look absolutely fabulous. The flavors are delicious as well. It's a must-visit for coffee enthusiasts. Highly recommend this new establishment—I’ll certainly be back to explore the menu further! View menu

We came here as a family of 7 in late Aug 2020 as a family meet up after lockdown eased. We were made so welcome. We sat outside under the cover and that worked well. We had 1 dog too. Really tasty food and lovely staff. Something for everyone on the menu. I had a Tyne Chease toastie but the soup looked great too. We were told that local vegans love their concrete cake (local specialty) with custard but I was too full to try it. Recommend this place to anybody. Update Sept 2021: post lockdown arrangements clearly stress the owner a bit, frazzled, table wasn’t cleared because that would mean resanitising and coffees to make… Updated from previous review on 2020-08-22

"The welcome we received was pleasant, although not very personal, and our details were not checked, which was surprising considering how difficult it was to secure a reservation. The restaurant is not licensed, so guests are welcome to bring their own drinks. My husband and I brought two bottles of champagne, but we were not offered an ice bucket and were given standard wine glasses instead of flutes. The food was served promptly, starting with an amuse bouche of butternut squash veloute with a creamy accompaniment served in egg boxes. The chef explained the dish himself, and it was delicious. The second course, an aged rice dish reminiscent of a soupy risotto flavored with parmesan and espresso, was my least favorite. I found it poorly presented and the coffee flavor didn't come through well. The third course, a beautifully cooked lamb cutlet finished on a barbecue outside, was accompanied by flavorful lentils. However, the broccoli that came with it was plain and could have used some additional flavor. The dish was not explained to us. The fourth dish, which I initially thought was eel, turned out to be smoked eel and was served with beetroot. This was one of my favorite dishes of the night. We were served two desserts: a warm chocolate foam with orange sorbet and a deconstructed rhubarb custard with pink meringue pieces, both of which were delicious. The bill was not presented to us, so we followed the lead of other guests who left cash on the table as they left. My husband had a nice chat with the chef, and I joined in after a visit to the restroom. The chef was very knowledgeable and skilled with flavors. Overall, I was a bit disappointed by the lack of personality in presenting and explaining each dish. The experience felt somewhat impersonal and lacked interest. I believe guest interaction is crucial, so my tip would be for the restaurant to take the time to engage with guests, even if it means spending less time in the kitchen. I did not give a perfect score due to the presentation and slightly underwhelming flavors in some dishes. I believe that in fine dining, every element of the dish should be bursting with flavor. Despite this, we had an enjoyable evening and would return if we are able to secure a reservation."
