"Travelling with my son to visit a friend living in the nearby village of Staplecross we had been minded to make a brief detour via the popular tourist destination of Bodiam Castle. Time passes all too quickly and in the event we decided to take...lunch at the well known Castle Inn, literally across the road and a short walk away. Welcomed upon arrival we initially planned to eat outside on the terrace, but with the sun shining brightly we headed for the cooler climes of the restaurant. Our starters consisted of Homemade soup of the day (tomato) and samosa served with a pea and potato puree, a mint coconut dip, and a side salad. The mains were Homemade steak burger and chips, cod and chips, and a smoked salmon baguette with salad garnish. Liquid refreshments consisted of a couple of glasses of Sauvignon blanc and a regular supply of coca cola. Throughout the meal the young crew provided a good table service, patient over our somewhat long deliberations with our individual choices, whilst also making several visits during the proceedings to enquire if all was satisfactory. The party were happy enough with their respective dishes and in my own case the smoked salmon baguette is worthy of a mention. To sum up a very enjoyable interlude in an unhurried and clean environment which also included the washroom facilities."

We went there after visiting Bodiam castle on Easter weekend. We were 3 adults and 2 kids and although it was busy they facilitated us without booking. Food came relatively promptly and was great. I had the burger and my wife the steak salad. One...of the kids had fish, chips and peas. Portion sizes were excellent. Staff were lovely.

great location and beautiful view, as we sat outside to eat. the eating was mistaken with clean tellers and a full magnifying from the big portion size, but what made this even better was the welcoming, friendly staff who smiled, chatted and attentive, there is. many places that could learn a lot from them. will certainly return and be recommended to family and friends. great work for all affected View menu

We were visiting Bodium castle and needed somewhere for lunch. It was a hot day and the pub has a large garden with plenty of tables and chairs on the terrace. Our order was taken quickly but there was a very long wait for food....When we chased up our order after 50 minutes we were advised that there were two large parties in a small their orders had been prioritised as they had booked. I appreciate the delay in those circumstances but it would have been good to let us know when we ordered as we may have decided to go somewhere else (we had limited time as we needed to catch a train back)
