"I was very excited to visit this restaurant after the canary wharf display. but I was quite underestimated by all the experience. I had booked the online £20 2 cursor menu plus a cocktail. when we arrived there, none of the employees seemed to know the least I had booked this offer. they seemed a little uncertain what was to be done, and it felt something like we were fed for ourselves. we had to ask several times what the cocktail was and also the set menu was very limited. (on the website will not show them what the set menu is.) we had to wait a long time for our eating, and when it arrived, it was warm and not hot as they would expect. also my friend, who ordered the fish, was very disappointed by the tiny part she was given and had to order a shell of clobig chips to go with him as it came with very little. the puddings were really nice, and almost for the night when I'm honest. I think the biggest disappointment for me was the place, it just didn't have the wow factor for me. I expected butlers wharf chop house or plateau, but it was very minimal and strong and had no warm atmosphere at all. the personal was friendly, and tried her best, but something has not quite come with this place and the price of the meal. I don't think I'd get in there if there are so many other restaurants to choose from."

"I used to come here regularly with my family in the 90s 00s. In those days it 's wasn 't particularly expensive, just hard to get a table. Pre Covid I 'd visit two or three times a year for a treat and we were always made to feel special. We decided to treat ourselves again in early January to ward off the blues. If it didn 't have the 'brand ' attached I 'd have felt it was a very average restaurant. The front of house staff were rude (not quite as bad as the ones at The Ivy Chelsea Garden but close) and passive aggressive. It was very busy at the front desk and I suspect the blockage was the wait staff not getting tables ready quickly enough. However, it was stupid to take it out on the people who 've just arrived. Then our waiter was a bit dippy. Very unusual for The Ivy. One eg he let both our glasses of wine empty and it took ages to flag someone down to fill them up (I 'm quite happy to do it myself but didn 't know where our wine was). Then the bloke who filled mine up wasn 't listening when I twice said 'that 's enough thank you ' so I had a large beaker of white wine to get down before it got warm. Also one of the loo seats in the ladies loo was completely detached. I daresay they are all knackered from a busy festive season or had a lot of agency staff on. But it 's not what it was and no longer value for money."

"We received a warm welcome upon arrival at the restaurant and were promptly seated at our table with menus. The menu was well explained to us and we ordered a glass of champagne while we waited for our afternoon tea to be served. The sandwiches were flavorful, though slightly dry, and the cake selection was excellent, particularly the strawberry shortcake. Unfortunately, the scones were disappointing - they were small, dry, and claggy, leaving a strange aftertaste and making them difficult to swallow. The scones should have been the highlight of the experience, but in this case they were truly awful. It was a shame, as everything else, especially the service, was top-notch."

"I had booked about a week before but it was hardly necessary as there were only other people in the room. Was greeted at entrance politely and escorted to tabel and issued with menus. Decided on smoked salmon statrter which was excellent and just the right portion. Main course was Roast Beef which was also excellent. The accompaniments were really good large Yorkshire, roast potatos and savoy? cabbage gravy. The portions were just about right but it was so delicious that I ate the lot! I had a glass of claret which, again, was very good. Two disappointments The complete lack of atmosphere due to empty room. I thought it a little overpriced as lunch came to to which service charge was added which I think is lot for person. However the food and service were first class and as it is such an iconic venue, I suppose that must expect to pay top dollar."

"I was given a voucher for afternoon tea for a special birthday and this is why we went to the Ivy. We were made to feel welcome and ordered two glasses of wine to go with our sandwiches and cakes. We weren’t offered any selection of teas to have which we have had elsewhere only at the end after we had finished eating. This was a bit disappointing. The amount paid for the afternoon tea was very excessive for what we received. We have received better value elsewhere especially with the addition of service charge on the final bill. The setting in the Orangery however was very pleasant."

"Positives buzzing bar, lots of people in lunch break. I went with baby in pram. Very easy to navigate around the bar and lift access to toilets/change room on first floor. Negatives waiter was a bit patronising. I asked if they served hot drinks, he laughed, rolled eyes and said 'we 're a cafe, of course we do ' pity he hadn 't left me a menu on our table to highlight this. I ordered hot chocolate, it wasn 't great. The BBC Apprentice losing team probably get something possibly better while waiting in the cafe for Lord Sugar to bring the axe down on one of their heads. I ordered chicken burger it was overlooked and would possibly have made a great chew toy for pets. Friend ordered regular burger. Same as mine, over cooked, dry and uninspiring. Maybe we just made a bad choice or the staff were having a bad day. I hope so as I used to really like this venue."

"We booked here for an Afternoon Tea to celebrate our Anniversary It is a shame that there wasn 't any choice of afternoon teas today apart from the Easter Afternoon Tea as we had been there before and had the Gentlemans Tea menu On the plus side, the staff were friendly and welcoming here. The warm scones were good but could have been slightly larger like normal scones). The sandwiches however were very poor as the bread was dry and some of the fillings were quite sparse between the slices of bread the classic cucumber with beetroot cream cheese on tomato bread for example) had hardly any beetroot and cream cheese on it. We mentioned about the dry bread issue when paying for the Afternoon Tea but not much of a response came back or offer of any compensation. The selection of cakes looked very 'artisan ' but were very sweet. Some were quite sickly sweet. The little nest with the chocolate eggs inside was probably the best of the cakes. This Afternoon Tea was quite expensive for what it was £56 for 2 people) this included a pot of tea or a cup of coffee which they would top up on request). My rating is based on this Afternoon Tea is of poor value. The attentiveness of the staff over the teas and coffee 's and the relaxing feel of the birch room where we dined were the only plus points of the experience. So overall not what we hoped our Anniversary Afternoon Tea Celebration was going to have been."

"that was a bad experience from beginning to end. first there was no beer, and then none of the weeps were available on the wine list except house wine. the appetizers were in order, but we had a big problem with the main meals. two of us were without the kartoffels that were expected when the vigil of my wife ran blood and another bowl was mainly fat. Although we were not charged for both, it certainly spoiled an expensive evening. no experience I would recommend."

"Bartender 's drink making skills were lacking. Flavourless drinks with too much ice. As we reviewed the menu and discussed the menu, he lectured us that no one comes here for the burger. When my wife said the burger looked pretty good, he replie, you should order something else. We were seated soon there after and told the waitress we wanted a burger. Sorry, sold out was her response. I ordered the overpriced fillet mignon medium rare and it came out medium well. Nice looking restaurant. Seems they put a lot of thought into the design. Someone else should be running place and they could be more inventive with the menu. As a former bartender, I recommend that rethink their cocktails. And paper straws? What a way to run a mint julip."

"We went on Mothers day which we know is a particularly time and feel that sitting down and no one coming over for minutes was poor. we went and got a waiter to be asked what we wanted to order when he came over. we had no menus and no drinks. These were ordered and although took a while did not mind. We waited over a hour and a half for our food and then was told that there had been a mix up. we got the meals of which all were warm not hot. We sent back and they took away a steak which never came back The dinners came back as they left just being put in the microwave which then made the beef not edible. We only really had good dinners out the and to be fair we only paid for considering the restaurant was not full up the service was shocking and the quality of the dinners was really poor. Would not recommend at all ?? at the end no one even appologised, poor customer service"

"Heaven help you if you want to select two starters from the £19.17 lunch menu and no main course. I was told the Polish owners rules don’t allow it. So much for pleasing your customers. No doubt it’s something to do with the IT system yet another example of technology trimphing over real service (as opposed to the PR version of service). In the end I had to pay for each of the starters and guess what? The total came to just over £19.17. Petty and ungenerous behaviour I call it."

"I seem to be going against the crowd here, but I wasn't very impressed. The decor is lovely, and the service is good, but the food was pretty average. They do have a gluten free menu which is helpful, but I ordered the chicken in a cream sauce with mushrooms, and that was really not what I got. My chicken had been cooked in a red wine with lots of tomato, there were mushrooms, but the sauce was not creamy, and was barely thickened from the braising liquid. Hubby had gluten free pumpkin soup for starters and did like that, so I suppose the dishes were hit and miss."

"The Ivy Brasserie chain is consistently good and so was this branch. However we found the reception staff unaccommodating the table they'd allocated us was very close to other tables, in a noisy, draughty part of the restaurant they could easily have re seated us, with lots of other tables empty, especially as we were only going to be 75 minutes, a pre theatre booking. The food was good (though expensive for what it is over £5 for salted bread?! , the decor lovely, very Christmassy. However the noise levels were high and the tables all crammed too close to each other for the sake of losing one table, the place would feel so much better. Not all the Ivy Brasseries do this."

"I was quite disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. While the venue is beautiful and the welcome was friendly, including a nice reminder about the two-hour table limit, everything went downhill after that. The service started out okay, but it quickly became apparent that our waiter had forgotten our order and had to return to ask us again. After our main course, the service completely dropped off. Menus were given to us, but no one came back to take our orders. I noticed that other tables around us were also frustrated with the lack of attention from the staff. It took 20 minutes to finally get a waiter’s attention to ask for the bill, and then another 15 minutes to actually receive it. What began as a promising evening ended up being marred by the nonexistent service. Overall, I felt frustrated and dissatisfied."

"A very average meal. We ordered the beef roast and chicken roast. Twice we had to ask the kitchen for forgotten ingredients on the plate. As the roast only listed 3 items in the menu description, it is disappointing they couldn't remember to put 3 items on either of the plates. Yorkshires were cold and potatoes were hard. Cooked and then not reheated enough. Chicken roast is served with beef gravy. Not good enough for £18 a plate and to then we had to pay extra 12.5% tip on top of this."

"Nice place but we visited on a cold day and and if you weren’t seated directly in front of the open fire it was chilly in the restaurant . Also some of the food needed to be hotter than served. And I totally disagree with the service charge, on our bill it was £30 thank goodness it was discretionary the service certainly didn’t live up to that high charge. That should be removed entirely and left at the customers discretion. Kind of changed the mood of the lunch which was a shame."

"We booked for a birthday brunch on a Sunday for 6. The place was full and we had to wait 10 mins for the table we had booked at 11. Once seated it was another 15 mins until our order was taken. 15 mins then until our drinks arrived and another 5 until the food showed up. Clearly massively understaffed and delays were not the staff’s fault although when we asked for something some fresh boiling water for the teapot and some more maple syrup we had to remind twice until they arrived. The bill took a full 15 minutes. Why do owners put staff and customers under stress only allow booking where your staff can cope? I was minded to remove the obligatory service charge but did not want to make a scene. As we had booked for brunch, we were expecting the normal things you would find on a brunch menu. There they were on the menu .. so we ordered only to be told: no sausages, no black pudding, no avocado, no French toast and, very strangely, no fried eggs but we could have poached or scrambled eggs! The food was OK except the bacon which was flabby, fatty streaky bacon that was only just cooked and not good quality. Guests at every table had left theirs on the side of the plate. For a restaurant claiming to serve an American style brunch, this was massively underwhelming. In short, we will not return and I strongly recommend that all reading this give this place a miss. There are plenty of much better places in Notting Hill."

"Just next door to the Gielgud Theatre terrific ambience, decor very stylish, like being in a swish club with the central square bar, some banquette seating and good lighting (love the lamps on the bar Food very good, as it was quite late after the theatre I chose a salad with chicken, avocado, crispy panchetta and egg. It was fresh, very tasty and huge ! Sadly could not eat it all there was so much. Husband said his Salad Lyonnaise was delicious. Great value for money. Waitresses excellent. We will return."

"The best restaurant in and around St. john’s Wood without going into Mayfair. Id say it’s on par with or even better than the Ivy just down the road. Food is always amazing, they are great with kids, waiters exceptionally attentive and will bring you anything extra you need. For a special family meal I came here over the Ivy and everyone had a wonderful time- prices are high but that is expected for a restaurant like this and when you have fantastic food and service you don’t mind paying."

"I love Tuttons, and have been there many times. The problem that we find is that if it's just the 2 of us, they always put you on a table that's so squeezed, in that you might as well join the next table, or in our case as table that was on a pathway between the kitchen and the stairs to the toilets. Very frustrating as this always makes us think twice before going there as a couple. We spoke to the manager and were moved, I'm not going to say reluctantly, but it was only after we said, it's ok we will go somewhere else, that we were moved. It was not just us, the couple who where put on the same table that we had vacated, asked to move, but were not so lucky. The food and the service, as always, were excellent. They maybe need to have a re think about table positions when you are a smaller party."
