"Afternoon tea was not the best experience. We were kept waiting at the door for about 10 minutes for some unexplained reason for a start, although we had a booking. Tea consisted of 3 sandwiches, two of them tiny, a cupcake, 2 scones (why 2, I don 't know), a tiny pot of chocolate something, a square inch of fruit cake, tiny smoothie and a hot drink, for £29.95. Champagne was £10 extra. There was a question on the booking form about dietary requirements, so I noted that I was vegetarian, but I was told at the table that there 's no vegetarian option! Why ask then?? I therefore could only eat one of sandwiches, which were all on spongy mass produced bread . Everything came to the table at the same time, including the coffee and tea which was luke warm on arrival, so we had champagne, a smoothie and hot drink all together. Also, a substantial service charge is added to the bill, so for three people it was over £123!! Appalling price for minute, low quality food!"

"I was in London to attend a conference and was looking for a good steak restaurant after the event close out. I was pleasently surprised to find this charming Argentinian restaurant with excellent reviews. I walked there from the station with my rain coat. The ambiance was nice and the food was great, but unfortunately I had a very unpleasent experience which I will proceed to illustrate. There were many white Europeans inside and a lady who looked Asian. I am from Angola, but look a little Arabic due to my lighter complexion. People payed normally and left. When it was my turn to pay, I too asked for the bill from the younger waiter and paid. Apparently, the older (supposedly Argentinian) waiter did not see me pay and when I left the restaurant she went after me outside inquiring if I had paid. I then showed her the card receipt as evidence. This event was quite saddening to me. There were some German tourists outside who witnessed the occurrence as they were leaving as well. Whether I can blame this on a bias I really don't know, but what I can share is that this really changed the whole mood of my trip which had been quite pleasent up to that point. Appart from that, everything was great. The restaurant is really nice, the other waiter who happened to be from Romania was really friendly, and the food was excellent. Maybe I was just unlucky."

"Something seems to have gone wrong. We have greatly enjoyed staying here before and dropping in for occasional lunches. We liked the good food and wine, and the exceptionally good service. The premises looked immaculate and smelt fresh. Back today, looking forward to a pleasant impromptu late lunch at about 1:30pm. People were eating but there were plenty of spare tables. We waited to be seated in the restaurant … and waited… and waited. After a while my wife reported to the hotel receptionists that there were similarities to the Marie Celeste. They said that someone would come. A few minutes later a barmaid arrived at the bar. We explained that we had been hoping for a lunch table but that there were no restaurant staff. She went to find them. But several minutes later she still had not returned. So we left. By that stage we had realised that things had changed at the Hotel du Vin. It no longer looks immaculate. We let the receptionists know that we had intended to have lunch, but had decided to leave. They didn’t seem bothered. This place used to have excellent management. It needs to get it back again."

"Friends and I had drinks here. Brilliant ambience, they have a heated outdoor space too. Lovely cocktails and the food was scrumptious. Definitely try the Salmon Bellini. But what really was great about this place was the manager, Manuelle. What a gentleman and great conversationist. We had some issues with our table, which he immediately sorted and was a brilliant host the whole night. Would definitely recommend this place for speakeasy drinks and nibbles night, as there is music, but you can also actually hear each other talk without getting that scratchy throat the next day! 10/10."

"Won’t be back in a hurry… we waited 45 minutes for our first drinks order even though other larger tables around us ordered after and received theirs long before ours. The appetisers and starters were dumped on our table without explanation of which sauces went with what and the closh from one starter was left on the plate with no room to discard. The side dish (simple steamed broccoli) was delayed on a considerably overcooked fish main (turbot) and was delivered 20 mins later, only after the dish was almost finished. To add to this, when we enquired about a fish fork for the ‘on the bone’ turbot, the waiter did not know what one was… after asking around it appears as though ‘the Ivy’ don’t even have them. Some of the food was delicious (especially the venison tartare and the Keralan duck curry) so it wasn’t without merit, but the terrible service means we’ll be going elsewhere unless things change. Unfortunately, looking at other tables around us the same feeling may be commonplace…"

"We had a fantastic dinner experience at this restaurant! It was our first time dining here. Our server, a very friendly and knowledgeable young man on a Sunday evening, made our evening even better. We started with the English Pea Ravioli, followed by the Chicken Schnitzel and Braised Prime short rib stroganoff, all of which were absolutely delicious. We shared 3 glasses of wine and our server kindly gave me a little top off since I only had 1 glass. As we were celebrating a birthday, we ordered dessert and received a second one for the celebration. The atmosphere, service, and food were all excellent."

"We pre-ordered and two phone calls were made to ensure my meal was gluten free. The restaurant on the calls confirmed this would be possible. I was then given a place name with GF written on it from the restaurant. I was then served camembert with gluten bread, I asked for the gluten free, to which they offered gluten biscuits. So I then had to change to scallops as the only GF starter option. I then received the steak and chips and double checked whether the chips are fried separately, I was then told the chips were not fried separately so therefore were not gluten free. Later on I was told the chips were actually gluten free. The waiter was not very happy or welcoming. Would not return to this restaurant."

"We were in an overflow room so the decor wasn’t classic Gaucho and it didn’t have the Gaucho flair. My steak was lovely but the vegetables came cold and then returned limp and brown where they had been heated up was then told that it is real broccoli and it is how it comes! . Third time was what it should look like green no brown limp stems and hot! Rigatoni was lovely. Kids max and cheese is tiny so probably shouldn’t be ordered for anyone over 6 or 7. We ordered an third for our two to share!"

"The food was very nice, and the service good the only issue was that because of the acoustics as waiting staff pass by speaking it was interruptive as it seemed they were speaking to me or one of the guests I suggest that the staff make way to their colleagues to speak with them and not as they past diners towards where their colleagues are to avoid the confusion to dinners and disrupting a business discussion It was unintentional and the service and food great but it did disrupt and pause discussion on numerous occasions during the breakfast meeting."

"Warm greeting on arrival and an unexpected free glass of prosecco to celebrate my friend's birthday. The staff are very attentive and welcoming. "I have to say we arrived early. I have to sit in the bar. while we wait until our table is ready and our family arrives. we had cocktail and coffee in bar area. we were on our table looking at the themes that were fabulous. we had the set star who was amazing. the quality of the rib just melted in the mouth, we all ordered various steaks for the main that was cooked to perfection. well done to the chef who cooked them. the sauces that came with steak were done. the taste was right. the odds we choose to go with the steaks were stopped. the cheese garnel pasta was excellently combined with the taste, now we chose the sticky toffee pudding. with ice, well, I had some sticky toffee pudding. in my time and this was really amazing. it melts in my mouth with a wow factor. well done on the dessert section. the waitress who took care of us was very knowledgeable, well done with her. her service was excellent. we will come back again?"

"We visited Heritage on Wednesday to try their Christmas menu, I checked it before on their website and really liked the festive dishes they put. When we arrived, we were greeted by a lovely hostess, I think her name was Simona, she was so welcoming and attentive, and to me this attitude is always a huge bonus. The Christmas menu itself was a wonderful experience, we couldn't be more satisfied! Such a nice mix of authentic Alpine dishes with more familiar to us dishes of European cuisines. Taste-wise, our food was fantastic, from foie gras to bbq grill and then to a beautifully shaped quince strudel... Just marvellous! We will be definitely back again in the new year, looking forward to our next visit!"

On this cold winter's day, there was no doubt what was needed; a bowl of hot soup! On the menu was celeriac, Bramley apple and whole chestnut soup. "Me and my boyfriend went for our 5th year anniversary meal. They messed our booking up as we had to cancel our first booking but they were under different email addresses and we were told they had sorted it. We arrived to a woman who eventually gave us a table after we had tried to explain they had cancelled the wrong booking even though I had emailed from a different email address and they had confirmed the previous one has been cancelled the day before we made the second booking, she still told us it wasn’t the restaurant fault and we weren’t bothered as accidents happen… The food was average at best, nothing special what so ever, I got the fish and chips and the fish was extremely greasy and I found some black plastic in my fish, however I did not complain as I have good manners and didn’t want to cause an issue as we were there for a celebration. My boyfriend has allergies and could not eat coleslaw so we asked for it to be removed…his burger arrived with coleslaw inside!!! Luckily I had realised and warned him before something serious happened and we asked for a replacement which took 15 minutes! I had almost finished my meal by that point. I ordered a sticky toffee pudding and it was completely dry inside, I was struggling to get my spoon through it and we did not finish it. The cocktail and beer was average and overpriced. Paid for a coke, came in a small glass with more ice than anything and wasn’t even half a can. The most strange thing was that when we asked for the service charge of £8 to be removed…a very old woman with short hair and large glasses and clearly a temper issue came over and spoke to us horribly and questioned why we had asked for it to be removed. I told her the fish I got was very greasy and the cake was very dry, she did not like my honest reply and started to raise her voice which was very unprofessional, I was so shocked with her tone of voice and then she of all people asked us to leave when we refused to pay the service charge and I told her it was discretionary as it said on the menu. Disgusting treatment from what I’m assuming is the manager and I’ve seen other reviews now that have complained about the same woman. Honestly so disappointing as we went for a celebration and someone had to ruin a nice day for us, hope she gets some help with herself or finds a job more suited to her hopefully away from members of the public. "this as been our favorite restaurant for a few years , we bought our friends for a meal last night what a disappointment ordered two soups one from the set menu one from al a carte roll with the al a carte soup and no roll the set menu at your prices we would expect a roll with set menu. the clearing of our table two plates where collect and place in the corner of our table then the third plate was collect and place on the pile of plates then again with the fourth plate then removed from table I have never seen service like it !!!It was sorry disappointing if felt as those the business had changed hands. "I was very excited to try the famous cipriani restaurant. my mother was a regular customer a few years ago and she spoke so much of it, remembered both the eating and the staff in so detail and had even met the owner who sounded. very friendly and kept his facility on a very high standard. the eating was average, absolutely overpriced and she was shocked to see the difference in the service between now and then, and I was extremely disappointed by the behavior of the waiter on our table. we were asked to wait for our table, although our friend had mobility problems and they were aware of it. the atmosphere was quite loud, as the waiter took our order, he had to lean on to hear what we said was perfect. when I ordered, I was sure that the appetiser, but thought it right, first a question about the risotto of the day and the other pornstar I was interested in, and one of the two was the same question asked another person of our table. he replied that the dame has already asked me the same question and I just replied sorry, I could not listen to her conversation, although I had no obligation to say that or do that. when he explained, I told him the court that I had decided and then moved on to order my appetit to which he asked, this is her main course, I answered no, I would like this as my appetizer, to which he replied they always begin from top to bottom, never from bottom to top meaning they never start from their main and then order their appetizer. this was said in such a repulsive and aggressive way that I was actually shocked, but he quickly moved to the next person and I thought it was best to leave. my friend looked at the weeping list and asked if they had a certain whisky to which he answered no, we did not. if they were the whisky menu, not the wine menu that he disappeared and never brought, we had to ask another waitress who kindly informs us that they actually have it and brought us the whisky list themselves. when everyone had the appetit, he brought me the wrong one. I told him politely that this was not the praised court that I had ordered to answer that this is the one you showed me in such an rude tone and resurrected. that is impossible, because the court I showed him was the one he brought me to the menu. the cherry above was the fact that he did not remove the wrong appetit from the bill and I had to ask to remove it. this is absolutely unacceptable for such an expensive restaurant that has long been here. I will never really understand what such people are right to behave on these wise and how management allows this. this is the only reason why no one is visited by our table again and it is really a scandal in view of its long history. ps: we found out this morning that they put rest of another table in the Takeaway bag we demanded. this device is really the epitome of catastrophe and a spirit of pastness!"
