"so. for a kick-off, this place has many potentials and is a very attractive and beautifully positioned place, right at the main train of the fair mile at henley on thames. good. that said the experience of our meal was less than satisfactory. After we decided that we didn't want to start and have only preferred a main course, we were surprised that our food came out within 5 minutes after the order and was ploned before us. that's good, but what we were greeted by has given us the feeling that we were back. the 80s with a beefeater art of experience. my friends steak was floppy and looked like something from tesco for 3 pfund and her veg was overcooked and black. with young, trunk broccoli, they only need to blanche for 2-3 minutes, as they wipe very quickly. on my head. this was 4 crevettes, deep fryed with a dressing that was good; no problems there at all and a lacking 1970 style prawn cocktail with super market marie the rosesoße pressed about what had been frozen on the bed of the shrunk iceberg salad. the chips, were stacked on the side and were dry and bleeding to be honest. no taste, and they were probably too long in the many remaining ofenchips. When I came back from the gents, I found my friend who knows the very polite and young waitress that eating was not good at all. that said the ingredients were good, it was how they were cooked and presented. pretty awful. each cook worth weight white how to cook a good steak and present young veg without being floppy and crowned. then we saw the young waitress who left the owner who then went to empty us. I guess she was upset that we had complained. I understand, but this is not professional and shows a significant lack of customer service as home personnel. the barman was polite and we paid quickly. we couldn't get out fast enough."

"I had lunch here the other day. I ordered the Mothership and spent a while trying to work out exacty what it was I was going to get. The marketing material is heavy with the brand 's lexicon, intended to draw the consumer in and make them feel they belong to a cool world of pies and happy consumption. I found that it mostly works I enjoyed the graphics and thought they looked good, clear colourful but with a lot to take in on what should be a fairly straightforward subject what shall I have to eat? We enjoyed the ipa while we waited and with the food. It was clean, cool and hoppy a great drink to accompany the meal. The 'ship arrived promptly, nicely plated and piping hot. The gravy was smooth and savoury, the pie, the mash, the peas, the toppings were just so and the chosen filling steak kidney in our case tasted good. It was an enjoyable and filling meal, which at £13 felt like good value. The staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient, too. However, my eating partner and I both felt the pie seemed like it had been put together some place else and (effectively) reheated on the premises just prior to us eating it. Not necessarily a problem, of course, but we both agreed the loser in this instance was the pie 's hot water pastry. The pastry showed every sign of being delicious and delicate back when the pie was freshly out of the oven, whenever that was, but by the time it had been reheated for us, it had hardened to the point that it was tough to cut and chewy to eat. To be fair, most customers will neither notice nor mind, I imagine, but for us, we felt the pie, as presented, was rather a 3 star version of what likely started out as nearer to a 5 star product. We both chose the steak kidney jobbie (aka Kate Sydney, in PieM speak) and both agreed we enjoyed the savoury filling and in particular, the pieces of chopped kidney surely the whole point of a steakNkiddley pie... funnily enough the kidney pieces were rather more in evidence than was any steak, however, the filling as a whole was moist, tender savoury. That 's A Bingo! I 'm consious of sounding slightly snippy about a meal that was both filling and tasty, but there was this sense that the pie itself had the potential to be really good but that by the time it made it on to the plate, was merely OK... which we both thought was a bit of a shame. All in all, we enjoyed the meal and thought that we would both eat here again after all there 's plenty of variety to choose from! Pies akimbo for many a visit Bravo!!"
