"I was in the shop a little over a week ago on a Monday afternoon. Thought their gelato/ice cream looked delicious and so many varieties. I chose the white chocolate, hazelnut and I believe what is called stracciatella, which had little chocolate bits in it;...that last one was my favorite. There were just a few people in front of me in line, no one in back. So I place my order for a triple scoop cone which came to a little over pounds cost, and hand the young lady a pound note, but after she hands me back just a pound note, I inform her of the mistake, that I didn't have anything but in my wallet. So she gives me a pound note, and doesn't offer an apology. Then it became more odd, when the other young lady scooping the ice cream asks for my receipt and then doesn't give it back to me, but places on a counter behind the ice cream. I ask her if I can have it back, and she said No, we need to keep it in order to get the right ice cream but something seemed odd, so I asked for the receipt back, which she handed back reluctantly, and after looking at it and verifying the cost for the ice cream I gave it back to her. As I sat eating my ice cream, I noticed that other patrons weren't asked for THEIR receipts in order to fill an order. So I believe that these workers perhaps thought they could pull something over on me (being from America and not as familiar with the pound system) and that I wouldn't notice if they shorted me by pounds. Just buyer beware if you're a foreigner come into this ice cream shop. It could have been a simple mistake with the cashier, however there was no line forming behind me she wasn't rushed, and then there's that odd bit of them not wanting me to keep my receipt... Mind you, this was the only negative interaction I had on my wonderful vacation in England."
