I often know most of us avoid hotel restaurants because we do not believe that they offer good value for money. but as I have realized in the last few years, after spending a lot of time in hotels, we sometimes get good surprises. hide and seed is part of a boutique hotel in a quiet opposite of putney. my plan for the day was to start with a good lunch and then go for a walk along the river.

I was given by zomato after I won the check-in contest on her birthday party, the opportunity to try the hide seed in putney. the place is fantastic as it resembles a studio and its library, with a whole wall covered in books and the comfortable high sessels that embrace them during the meal. the personal is welcoming and attentive and enchants the whole atmosphere. but here ends the dream and the reality beats hard. eating is disappointing, hardly warm, in small portions and the taste I had expected was completely inadequate. From first sight, both outside and in, it is clear someone has thrown a whole bucket of cash at this place and the result is a suitably elegant boutique hotel To begin, we chose the pork belly (served with a couple of swooshes of sauce and very little else) and the octopus (tapas style with baby potatoes and a generous dusting of paprika). The ingredients were clearly top-notch – the pig had obviously been allowed to wallow with abandon, and a very contented cephalopod had given up its tentacles for my enjoyment. just 5 minutes walk from east putney train station on the District Line, or 15 minutes from putney high street, hide and seed is part of lodge hotel. the restaurant itself is located in the ground floor, right in front of the lobby. the elegant dining room has a relaxed library style and a wall of black and white sport photos, all very modern (if a little dark) while I penetrated the menu I ordered a cocktail from the bar. I really, really wanted to like Hide and Seed- so many wonderful reviews, Zomato had invited me to give it a go, and I'd seen some pretty pictures but unfortunately our experience was not quite as I had expected. I do agree with one thing- the dining room is lovely. The seats are rather plush, I like the whole library vibe' and the photos on the wall... all very elegant.
