"To put the scenario in context……..we have just returned from travelling overseas for my husbands 70th birthday holiday and I had promised him a Thai meal Thai food is a favourite of ours) when we returned…so I booked The Blue Orchid at the Verve hotel. We arrived and the place was absolutely empty. We were shown to the only table which had menus on it. We knew what we wanted as we had looked at the menu online earlier in the day. We ordered Set Menu A and two diet cokes and some prawn crackers. The starters arrived and after eating a few bits of battered vegetables, I managed to get the attention of the waitress and asked to see the menu again so we knew what we were eating, because I was pretty certain it said satay chicken and tiger prawns. The menu came back and I asked what we had been served because it had no resemblance to the menu description. The waitress apologised and said she had thought we had said Set Menu B …we said categorically not we had clearly said A. The waitress went to get her senior and we repeated the problem. The senior member of staff assured us we would get Set A main courses. The original waitress apologised again and I pointed out that menu A&B had the same starters and she said that the chef had misheard her and cooked menu D starters which were all vegetarian. She then asked which of the A starters we would still like. We agreed we’d like the tiger prawns and chicken satay served with the main course. Some time later the main course was delivered by the original waitress and her senior. I asked her senior where the main course tiger prawns were and what was the food on the table because once again it resembled nothing like what we had ordered. She said she would go and ask the chef and off she went. We divided the rice in half and ate the starter prawns and satay which were cold…at which point the other waitress disappeared….we waited a while for someone to return and then we started eating the duck and chicken. After a while I called out was someone going to come and talk to us about the food. The senior waitress and the original waitress returned and said they would make an adjustment to the bill. I said that wasn’t acceptable as we had deliberately chosen that menu to eat prawns and because it had no chilli. I asked to speak to the manager. When he arrived he went into a tirade saying he wouldn’t have his staff shouted at or spoken to the way we had spoken to them….we had been in normal voice and very polite, considering they had completely ruined my husbands birthday meal. The manager was shouting at us “did we want the meal removed and set meal A cooked for us yes or no “ he kept repeating “yes or no”. My husband, a quiet man, told him we wanted him to listen to our complaint and explain why we had been assured we would get Menu A after the starter mixup and we were still not served what we had ordered. The manager didn’t reply he constantly interrupted and spoke over us and I told him at least twice to stop being so rude to us both…he still kept shouting “Do you want this replaced with menu A, yes or no” We finally said no. I said, I no longer wanted to eat as I was very upset and I apologised to my husband for his disastrous 70th birthday meal. The manager said we needn’t pay for the meal….as if that made it OK. He then stormed off. I put £10 on the table to pay for our drinks and the prawn crackers which were the only thing we had which we had actually ordered. The waitress said we didn’t need to. But I left it there. As we went past reception I waited for the manager to finish booking 3 people in and told him I had left £10 to pay for the drinks and crackers, and that his behaviour was an absolute disgrace. We were absolutely amazed at this shameful behaviour of the manager. The waitresses had had polite and civil conversation and we had been polite in return..if telling someone that it was unacceptable to continuously serve food completely different from what has been ordered is being rude, I wonder how one can convey the situation to the staff…neither me or my husband shouted or raised our voices but the manager didn’t even ask us what the problem was he just steamed into us…..this establishment doesn’t deserve to be in business if this is how it’s managed…it’s no wonder it was completely empty in its restaurant. I can honestly say we will never be going again neither will any of our family or friends."

"We plumped for the set menu, selecting a start each to share and both had the Chicken Shish for mains. A word of warning, the houmous was lovely, however appeared not to be homemade and was served unceremoniously in a pile on a plate with no pita bread. The chicken was a little over cooked and the rice lacked flavour. The presentation showed they some ideas of making things look good, however it looked a little silly on the plate.My friend ordered a diet coke, she watched the waitress open a can, pour some into a glass, bring it over, then her colleague drank the rest, so we asked for the rest of the can please (as we were paying for it), they seemed surprised, had to open a second can, fill a glass and then bring her what was left in that one!! Getting anyones attention was a challenge except when it came to us paying, they tried to take it before we had placed all the money down.I will most likely not be returning anytime soon."

"Restaurant waa very clean and food was overall very good, nice portion sizes, good value and had a lot of flavour. Would only suggest being more generous with the amount of prawns I got in my dish as I only had a few. Can't complain at all as the food was cheap and very nice would go again and recommend to others"

"had a great time! eating was delicious, service was great, and the prices were amazing! quality is sacrificed in none of the courts, which is my concern when I see low prices. I went on a Friday night, with a few friends and it was the perfect place. my friend ordered the Saki-Sauer and I was mildly jealous because it was so good! but I had the Jai-alai ipa for $4, so I couldn't complain. Although the selection of beer and cocktails is not endless, the few that they really have good. concerning food, we started with the mouthwater cheese and spinach puffs. it is hard to put in cake, how amazing the spinat poofs were, the taste was improved with each bite. I secretly hoped that I was the only one who liked her, unfortunately I was not and had to share it. we were also surprised with a free dish from the cook, and it was the pork bell! it was tantalizing, we had to stop from ordering another dish because we had not yet received our escapes. what I had the cale salad, deliciously light and refreshing. my friends had the roasted buck tomatensalat, who looked amazing, and my other friend had the crispy snapper, everything was really great! definitely coming back soon!"

"really authentic Thai food, in the beautiful environment of a day florist, so plants and flora everywhere. the service and attention are very good, but eating is really top drawer. so delicious and very well presented, beautifully balanced dishes. we had meiang phuket (drilled garnels on cha pruu leaves) which were super, thai squid, which was very nice, som tam papaya salat, which was about as exact as any eive ever had in bangkok, and easy the best eive had in london, gai yang gorlea (married cheefs with kokosnuss and curefa it can get to do so even if they book, they may have to wait a little, and it is a little expensive also (all up (1 haupt 4 small plates,) 1 tear, cracker and 5 small beer £105,) but it was both worth the price, and have to wait outside for 15 minutes. I'll be back. if I can afford it!"

"We stayed two nights upstairs at the Clerk and Well, and had a VERY mixed experience. We arrived a bit early and had lunch, with our luggage next to our table at the bar server 's direction . The staff seemed resigned to helping us, as if we were interrupting their day. Except for the manager, who was very very nice indeed. Lunch was pretty standard pub food and was quite good. When we went up to our room, we had to go outside, enter a separate door from the pub and go up 40 quite narrow and steep stairs. Luckily, the staff took our heavy luggage up. The room was quite nice fairly large for a London hotel and lots of outlets always crucial . BUT There were two of us. The breakfast supplied was: 1 yogurt, 1 muffin, 1 fruit cup, 1 milk, and 1 orange juice. We were told we could request more. There was no outlet in the bathroom except for a shaver, and our converters would not work in it. On the morning we left, I went downstairs at 9 AM to get some assistance with our luggage; I assume they had a lift in the back for such thing. Also, I wanted to check out. But the pub was closed and there was no help nor a number to contact, so our luggage went down the stairs like sleds. We have stayed in hotels and pubs all over England so we 're accustomed to the problems with old buildings narrow stairs, etc.. In short good food, good pub, nice room, mediocre service."

"It could be better.. while booking i did mention it was for birthday. As we walked in they didnt ask anything just gave us the menu and sat us at the availalbe sit. Then i said i have a booking at 12.30 and was asked name of booking. I did’nt feel anything special even after mentioning it was a birthday lunch. After food was finished they came and took the plates, hubby went for toilet i told the waiter its my husband birthday to that i was replied ok nice, nothing else. I was disappointed aa i waa expecting a little more."

"This is my second time giving a one-star review. I decided to review this place and brought a friend along with me because I heard it was a great spot for Thai food. I'll keep this brief. We went for lunch and there was only one other couple there. We ordered a bottle of New Zealand white wine but received a bottle of cheap white wine instead. When I mentioned this, the waiter said it was all they had. I asked the waiter for food recommendations but he couldn't suggest anything. We ordered four dishes and each one came out warm and quickly. I requested fresh chilis but was given sweet chili sauce instead. The waiter never checked on us during our meal and instead sat watching something on his laptop. Overall, I was very disappointed with this place, especially after reading the great reviews."

"I am in love with Ting Thai's food honestly some of the best Asian food I have had in a while. The restaurant is tiny and it was really busy when we got there, but we were helped immediately and seated right away. The restaurant is clean but a bit chaotic, due to its size I'm sure. It has a great atmosphere of lingering late night eat8mg in New York in a tiny Asian restaurant where everyone knows everyone and is very vibey. The service was ok, not that great. Quite impersonal and rushed. We almost felt as if they were rushing us in order to flip as many tables as possible, which I understand, but then your customer service should be on point. I had the and my husband had the. The seafood was so fresh and the muscles were so big and sweet! We also munched on the crispy pork skins were were crispy and flavourful! "This cozy, family-owned Thai Malaysian restaurant offers easy parking at a nearby council car park. A nice touch with the colorful prawn crackers served as a snack. We enjoyed a bottle of Thai Monsoon white wine with our meal. The starters of chicken satay and prawn in a parcel were delicious, though it would've been preferred if the chicken was cut into smaller pieces on the skewer. The sauces were tasty. For the main course, the lamb Massaman curry was flavorful with large chunks of lamb cooked to perfection. The Nasi Goreng was a bit spicy but enjoyable, and they even added a fried egg on top per our request. The coconut rice was a nice accompaniment. The prawn and broccoli curry had tender broccoli and tasty prawns in a good sauce. The staff was friendly, polite, cheerful, and efficient. Overall, the meal was enjoyable and good value for money."

"I recently visited Giggling Squid for the first time while in Stratford upon Avon, and I must say, it is an outstanding restaurant chain. From the fantastic cocktails (I highly recommend the Thai Sabai and Thai Mojitos) to the delicious starters (we tried 6 different dishes) and top-notch main courses, everything was simply amazing. The standout dishes for me were the Chicken Massaman curry, Paneang Chicken curry, Sticky Chicken stir fry, and Samui Zingy Prawns. The Salt and Pepper Squid, Pork Dumplings, and Chicken Satay starters were also delightful. I would also recommend trying the garlicky Pak Choi and Tender-stem Broccoli as a side. The service was quick and friendly, and the atmosphere was relaxed. I am looking forward to visiting another Giggling Squid closer to home soon."

"This was our second visit to the restaurant and it will definitely not be our last. The atmosphere was great and we had lots of fun celebrating my wife's Birthday. After the meal, everyone sang Happy Birthday, and then a confetti bomb went off. The kids were given silly string to spray all over, especially my wife and me. "This restaurant serves the best Thai food we have ever had outside of Thailand. The staff member who served us was the nicest we have encountered in any restaurant. They adjusted the chili heat levels for us, recommended dishes based on our preferences, and even offered to accommodate us for the night when it seemed we might be locked out. As self-proclaimed foodies who cook at a high standard at home, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and had many conversations with the staff. "Bar Salsa is definitely going to become a favourite place of mine to visit on a regular basis. I discovered it two weekends ago whilst exploring Soho, Covent Garden and Leicester Square with a friend. We were keen to catch up and so wanted to find a bar to sit down and have a relaxing drink. We were attracted to Bar Salsa instantly due to its vibrancy and fairy lights (very girly I know but they really would look lovely in the evening too! We went into the bar which set alight your senses. You just don 't know where to look! It has chic furnishings and quirky murals/paintings on the walls which were so bright and vibrant! Being a creative pair we were became very intrigued by the venue and took a look around downstairs. Downstairs was the 'club/bar ' area very dim let with an array of lights (even disco lights on the dance floor featuring different levels of flooring. It was so exhilarating; we instantly wanted to return on another occasion especially after we discovered they offer salsa nights for minimal money. The thought of dancing away to the Spanish club music soon became too much for us and we decided to return later on with boyfriends in tow (of course they wanted to salsa who wouldn 't?! . We ordered a bottle of wine to share which was good value for money. They also informed us that it would soon be happy hour and all cocktails would be at least half price! We were definitely staying! We sat in the outside courtyard in the sun which was lovely. The ambiance was great with people chatting away, we didn 't even notice the big, busy main road next to us! Happy hour soon arose and we ordered two cocktails at the downstairs bar. These were delicious, some of the best cocktails we had ever had! If we hadn 't had to have left to meet my friend 's boyfriend we would have stayed in there all evening! We did return in the evening but unfortunately didn 't enter as entry price rises after 9:00pm. Although highly disappointed by this we will no doubt return! I rated the Salsa bar a 4.5, we had a delightful experience but we are yet to experience the club and salsa.I definitely recommend any upbeat, easy going person to visit especially if they love music, dancing and cocktails!"
