"I have dined at Mamma Mia on numerous occasions over the years when visiting friends in Oxford, most recently last autumn. I was excited for another enjoyable evening, but unfortunately, this time I was rather disappointed. As someone who has lived in Italy, I appreciate authentic pizza and have always found the pizzas at Mamma Mia to be delicious, filling, and a good value. However, on this visit, the toppings were sparse, the crust was very hard and overcooked, and the pizza itself was very thin. Both the pizza and the gnocchi dish we ordered from the specials board, priced at just under £17 each, were underwhelming. Our shared starter also left something to be desired, with crunchy peaches included. Fortunately, our desserts were good and the staff were polite and welcoming. However, the overall experience did not match the cost of the meal. As dining out is a luxury for many, I want to continue supporting restaurants like Mamma Mia, but only if I leave feeling satisfied, which unfortunately was not the case this time."
