"You can easily miss this lovely little restaurant which is tucked away in the bottom corner of the Swan Courtyard. The welcome was warm and friendly and the menu was that little bit different and all the food cooked fresh to order. We enjoyed the Chicken Wrap and the Cheffed up Burger which were delicious. There was a nice selection of cakes and the wines are reasonably priced unfortunately we were in the car but next time we will visit Clitheroe by bus or on the train! Highly recommended for a relaxing lunch or cake and coffee."

"I have visited this church linked café/restaurant many times in the past the most recent being today. I have always had a hot meal whether from the standard menu or the specials board all have been excellent value and very tasty. Today I had the home made steak and kidney pie with new potatoes, carrots and sweet corn and a pot of tea more of this later. The meal was served piping hot and was ample for a lunch I was satisfied but not over full at the end of my meal. Previously I have had a lamb hot pot again home made that appeared on the specials board it was full of lamb and not wishing to repeat myself very tasty. I have never tried the desserts as I find a cooked meal is ample for dinner time so lunch to those with breading. My only criticism is that the tea is too weak the pot is large enough for two tea bags or the quality of the teat needs reviewing. of course it could be partly my fault by putting to much full fat milk in the cup first, I am used to skimmed milk at home. The café is run as a charity organisation, I was introduced to it by a work colleague several years ago and visit when ever I am in Oldham. The serving staff appear to have a mixture of disabilities or learning difficulties but all do their job very well. The café is large, well used so much a so at the normal dinner time 12 to 1.00pm it can be difficult to find a free table. If you want a nice ordinary home cooked meal and are in Oldham seek out this cafe it is tucked away down a narrow cul de sac just off the town centre."

"So disappointing yet again. Primarily come to use soft play and coffee..as nice selection of cakes etc... But, every time I queue for about 20 mins and give up on coffee and just pay for soft play and go. Staff are so slow and bored looking..with no enthusiasm or care it seems. To queue just to do soft play is painful...need another way to do this as adults get impatient in queue never mind children. Could be so much better for what else is there...but it's such a let down and although fresh baking is so tempting, I can't bear to wait... Please make changes..."

"My mum, sister and I visited the Sugar Boutique on the hottest day of the year so far for the Friends themed high tea. The cabin was all decked out with at least 4 different themed teas going on at the same time and they...all looked wonderful. I loved all the extra Friends themed accessories that were on the table (a wooden lobster, a central perk coffee cup and various quotes from the show) A lot of thought had gone into putting the various items together and I would say the vast majority were on point. My favourite from the savoury selection was the mini pizza. I could’ve eaten two myself (like Joey) but the sushi would have worked better for me with a little dipping pot of soy sauce. The sweets were well crafted. Loved the ‘peas’ in the trifle shot! The cupcake though was probably the best cake I have ever eaten from a bakery! Sadly though, as I mentioned the extreme temperature earlier, we had to cut our tea short and take the sweet treats home to eat because it was hotter than hell in the cabin, in spite of numerous fans going and most of the windows open. We will definitely be back for another high tea (in November when the temperature is better"

"We knew it would be busy at Lymefield garden centre as they were serving Christmas lunch. Two drop ins were just being turned away at the entrance with very long faces because they forgot to book. (Rookie mistake) our table was waiting for us and we were greeted by the smiling face of Gemma who served us. Now I believe good service is second only to the food in the enjoyment of a meal. Every detail was perfect and I know about these things. At times it seemed a long wait to place our order, ask for something or enquire about the menu but I only had to look up and she was there. It’s not like the staff were nt busy as there was a table of 23 they were looking after. Little touches like being asked what kind of glass we wanted with our drinks is something of a bygone age. You d have to dine at the Ritz to get better service. At one point she was busy with the long table and I thought uh! She’s took her eye off the ball but Yvonne her team mate turned up as if to read my mind with my bowl of steaming rice pudding with winter fruits. Perfect for the coldest day of the year so far. Team work makes the dream work at Lymefield. It was a dream there yesterday. It’s in the most glorious setting . Surrounded by frosted fields the view was like the Christmas cards I d written that morning. My final word must go to the shop. The produce is farm fresh and I am particularly satisfied with the local Alma Bridge honey I purchased . It’s the finest I ve tasted. The clientele are mostly of retirement age as you d expect in the middle of the working week. I don t consider myself old but I am old school and Lymefield is the perfect way to get the seasonal celebrations started."

"Yesterday evening, we stopped by the restaurant just before 6:30pm while waiting to board a boat at Tower Pier. My partner ordered a croque monsieur, which was average, and I had a mozzarella and pesto olive roll, which was also just okay. However, what was unsettling was the staff's eagerness to clean floors and clear tables in preparation for closing time, which was still an hour and a half away. They seemed more focused on closing up than serving customers, which didn't create a welcoming atmosphere. Unfortunately, it was quite the opposite."

"The Old Swan known locally as Ma Pardoe's I have heard good things about this place for years, but never actually visited it until last weekend. The food was excellent a good selection, well presented, excellent taste, served by very nice staff what more could you want. Well if you want more, and you are a real ale fan they brew their own beer next door excellent selection of beer and at a very good price. We had 2 main meals, 3 pints of beer and 3 soft drinks, all for £42.35 (almost fell off my seat at the excellent price) Large car park at the rear, a real old fashioned Black Country pub if like me you have heard of it but not yet gone to it GO NOW you will not be disappointed."

"I recently stayed at The Black Bull in Haworth and it was absolutely delightful. The friendly staff welcomed me warmly and made me feel right at home from the start. The rooms were a pleasant surprise, combining comfort and style perfectly. They were tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean, providing a cozy retreat after a day of exploring the beautiful surroundings. The location of The Black Bull is ideal, situated in the heart of Haworth with easy access to charming shops and historic buildings. The peaceful ambiance of the surroundings only added to the overall charm of the place. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that my needs were met throughout my stay, their genuine hospitality and attentiveness made my experience truly unforgettable."

"Tried this place for the second time today. The first time, we asked the scowling older lady behind the counter if we could come in for a meal and the terse response was ‘depends what you want.’ I explained that my daughter was vegetarian and I’d eat anything and was told they couldn’t accommodate, so we left and went elsewhere. Today I thought I’d give them a second chance. We walked in and was told to sit at a table and decide what to have before ordering at the counter. Myself and my daughter cleaned off one of several tables that were still strewn with the last occupants crockery and then realised there wasn’t a menu on any table. Another couple who had just walked in were also looking for a menu. I told them I’d get them one from the counter. I went up to the counter, someone decided to take the table we had just cleaned off and I was then told that they don’t have a menu! Huh? A cafe without menus? There were some items written on a board, that was behind some customers queuing for takeout. The staff were too busy and miserable to help any further, so we went and won’t be back again. The worst experience of a cafe I’ve ever been in. Terrible visit on both occasions. Do they not read their reviews and try to make positive changes?"

"Hello, I walked the Greater Ridgeway across England during August September. I arrived at the Chequers a bit before opening time. But the lovely landlady made me a cup of tea. After a long walk it was very welcoming. Once they opened at midday I was greeted by extremely friendly staff smiling faces and lots of help with my onward journey. I had bangers and mash for lunch and a pint of cider. I couldn't fault this place at all , it's a lovely old genuine British pub with very friendly staff and very nice hearty food."
