"After reading the reviews, we were hoping to discover an excellent Indian restaurant. Unfortunately, this one did not meet our expectations. The starters were okay, but the main courses were lacking. The Tandoori mix was especially disappointing, and the special biryani wasn't much better. We are only giving it a 3-star rating because of the friendly staff. Dining in for dinner cost around £90-100 per person. The food quality was a 2, service was a 4, and the atmosphere was a 4."

"We ordered takeout from this restaurant and were pleasantly surprised by how quickly our food was ready on a busy Friday night. The restaurant was nearly full, which indicated to us that it was a popular spot for dining. Our meal was delicious and the service was friendly. I highly recommend trying the lamb rogan josh. "We are a family from Sweden with two young kids and had dinner at Chutney. Food was fine but we hated the ambience and the service. Restaurant is so bland and empty that there was a lot of echo when people were talking. It became very noisy due to this and was hard to talk.The waiters were in some kind of hurry as they were not ready to wait for even 5 min to let us decide the drinks and when we decided they gave us wrong drink we were ordering mango lassi but that was finished so waiter suggested lemonade but we got sprite instead of lemonade. When we said it was wrong we wanted lemonade then he said no it was not available As mentioned earlier, It seemed they were in hurry and even though kids had food in their plates they wanted to clear the table. We did not feel Welcome at all and will never go there again."

"I have been coming to this restaurant for many years. After a grueling workout at the gym, I was eager to try the mixed grill. It was incredibly tasty, well-seasoned, and beautifully presented. "I like the Mogul because the cooking is slightly different to the usual curry house greats. I would prefer it if the spicy food was more spicy, in our case the dansak was hotter than the Naga curry , 3 chilies should at least make you wince a bit. I'll ask them to rev it up a bit next time. Ambiance could be improved with a fish tank and 20 sitar greats. Beer is way too expensive and they didn't have Carlsburg on tap. I enjoyed the flavour and quality of the food and I'll be back , but I'll go to the pub first."

"Was staying in Portsmouth for a few days. Went to Purple mango Indian restaurant. Arrived a little early but that did not matter.Was shown to r table which was clean. Had a nice bottle of wine. Which was nice chilled. Good poppadoms a great selection of dips. For are starters we had mussels in lemon garlic also meat samosas they came lovely hot. For are mains we had king prawn masala ,garlic naan, sag aloo, chicken tikka masala, all very good lovely hot also had water at the table. Nice chilled. Had dessert chocolate mousse , strawberry dessert .very nice .to round of the evening coffee .very nice. Also Baileys on the house. Nice touch. Big shout out to are waiter Ali nothing to much trouble for him .All the waiting staff are very well dressed clean tidy.The restaurant is a lovely setting. Nice for couples or big groups of people.The owner Raji is lovely asked if are food was ok. At the end of the night he even called us a taxi back to are hotel. Which was very good him .would definitely recommend this place if you are staying in Portsmouth area. Lovely clean restaurant . Lovely friendly waiting staff. Food amazing.best Indian in town. Raji should be very proud of his team in Purple mango they all was working very hard Friday night."

"I went to a restaurant that had a vegan section on the menu, so I thought ordering would be easy. The menu also listed allergens, making it simple to identify vegan options. Most of the staff were unsure about what vegan meant, except for one who had to be called out to help me. I was told not to use the buffet because utensils could be mixed up with non-vegan items. When I ordered from the menu, I received a message from the kitchen saying that the dishes labeled as vegan were not actually vegan. I had to point out the vegan options on the menu again. Despite the confusion, the food was tasty, especially the chapattis, but the portions were small. The salad was missing, possibly because they thought it wasn't vegan."

"We are not locals but visit Epsom every few months and always take in an evening at this restaurant. In the past it has been excellent. However, this time it was a major disappointment. We arrived at 19.30 having made a booking. We finally received our meal at 21.00 some 1.5 hours after arriving. Not only that, the service was 'ridiculous ' for example, it took ages to get a beer, we asked for tap water for the table there were 4 of us after a while the waiter arrived with two glasses and we had to ask for another two. In addition, at times, the delivery guys were stood inside the restaurant which just looked messy. We were not the only ones receiving a slow service, others were almost pleading to be served. To us, it appeared that the restaurant prioritised greatly the deliveries as opposed to their inhouse customers. Once arrived, the food was delicious and we were offered complimentary drinks. The staff were friendly. I suggest the management take note of this review before their business really suffers."
