"We have travelled in Japan and we are serious fans of Japanese food but we recognise that this means we can be difficult to please, because we have some knowledge of what to expect of a good Japanese meal. This was definitely a good meal! The deep fried aubergine in a delicious sweet sauce was especially outstanding, and the tempura prawns and vegetables were excellent. There are some Korean dishes on the menu too. Well done Yoshi Sushi we'll be back..."

"Very poor. More like a takeaway with tables. Didn’t have the options advertised on their website. Order via a QR code and pay upfront. No waiting staff- just servers. Food took half an hour to come and it all comes at once (starters mains) and then the drinks came after. Food was edible but nothing special. Toilets weren’t clean. I will never go back"

"Every time I have been here there is always something wrong, food great and senior staff members seem perfect, when sitting in and eating ordered a drink and a main dish, only drink arrived and didn’t order the main for us, we were in a bit of a rush so had to leave. Then when I ordered online for collection, someone had taken the ticket off and just left it next to the register which was rather annoying as I had to wait a while due to a busy Saturday. Food is excellent, 10/10 recommend, just a bit of a pain to go out for a meal and have to chase someone for your food. They were very kind about delaying my collection and gave me a larger drink."

"Let's begin with where to start. I highly recommend avoiding the fish taco starter. It was not actually a taco, but rather a mint leaf. It was truly awful and far from being a taco or anything Japanese. Overall, it was quite repulsive."

"during the kovid we were forced to go to clifton instead of zanzibar and the experience on par we were obliged to go to the best restaurants in the opposite. noa ended on our radar thanks to a friend's recommendation and we came here twice in a week. eating was absolutely incredible. the highlight was the drachenrolle, I must have eaten four of them during a week. an unforeseen Japanese restaurant in a romantic part of the city and gives the best Japanese restaurant I have visited in the last 10 years. unexplained thanks to the kitchen staff."

"Myself and my husband ate here to kick off our honeymoon. The food in Sakanas was absolutely incredible! We had the beef teriyaki and Korean steak gambi with jasmine rice, and both were gorgeous. Steak was melt in the mouth, incredible flavour and filling. Not the cheapest but well worth what you pay. Nice atmosphere, could have done with some air con as it was very hot in there! The only criticism we had was that the guy serving our table had zero customer service skills. We didn’t get a name but he was the tall server with his hair up in a top knot. No check back to see how our food was, zero conversation, came across as pretty rude and didn’t bother asking if we’d enjoyed the food. It was a shame as some of the other servers were really friendly but we didn’t tip because of his service. Otherwise, lovely meal out! Would definitely recommend for the food itself."

"We organised a karaoke party for a group of 12 year old girls on Sunday afternoon 3 July and they absolutely loved it. It was the only place in town that did karaoke for kids and families. Our host Ivy made the karaoke room warm and inviting and for the girls it felt really authentic and special. There was plenty of food and drinks included in the price and all of it was delicious. The girls enjoyed singing their favourite songs, eating together and being looked after so well by Ivy and her team. Whilst the girls enjoyed their space we parents sat downstairs and enjoyed a tasty set menu box. I had the Gyosa with skewered veg and my husband the tempora which was hot and tasty. The cost per head for the party was good value for money and was very relaxed. Yes there was a 10% service charge which is pretty common now, and we were happy to pay it because we'd received such care and attention to everything. I'd recommend Obento for family, kids, parties it's a really fun way to share an experience together with good company and super tasty food. Thank you to everyone at Obento for making our party so amazing, the girls were raving about it !!!!! I've included a pic of the set up, this was before I added some party banners, balloons. There is a sunken table lit from beneath which looks great"

"We really enjoyed our meal here The sharing platter, with 6 different dishes was delicious and filled us both up. Service was very friendly and efficient, the place itself is fitted out to a very high standard and has a lovely chilled atmosphere. My only bugbear was the service charge, but that's something I've never liked. I want to tip an amount that I feel is appropriate, and in this case we tipped more than the 10% service charge."

"I cannot recommend this place enough. Me and my fiancé actually came here on our 1st date, so of course 1yr later we had to return as we loved it so much. If you want top quality but affordable sushi this is the place to go to. Our bill came upto nearly £100 this included drinks as well. Really cute and chilled place, the staff are helpful and friendly. You don't have to wait long for the food. I would say though that the tables are not big enough to fit multiple things on there once you have your drinks there, condiments and 2 plates its already tight. So we only ordered 2 dishes at a time and took breaks. If you like to eat alot like we do then save it for a special occasion as £100 isn't just a normal day expenses, but if you are a 2,3 plates kind of person it is a lovely place to go for a meal. An example of costing we ordered a pink lady (8pcs) £12.95 for top quality sushi that is value for money. Can't wait to go next year for our 2 year anniversary!"

"The food is very good and reasonably priced. You can chose from lots of half portions if cant make up your mind.the vegan options are excellent and the cocktails sublime. The staff know the cocktails so well and will help you choose what suits your mood, everything comes out with such flare especially the smokey the Tokyo tea.. its supposed to be for 2 people but I have it by myself"

"Caption: A real filling treat. Occasion: Went there for a birthday dinner. Ordered: Spring rolls for starters, the Seafood Palace for main, and swapped regular rice with egg fried rice. No dessert. The main dish comes with a side salad, soup and plain rice. The food was more than generous and we were overly stuffed. The ginger sauce to accompany the meals elevated the taste and is a must try. Service: While waiting staff were friendly, the true service was provided by the chef, Francis. If you do visit, ask for him, he was absolutely hilarious! Facilities: Everything was clean and there was ample space, we had the table to ourselves. Location: tucked in the corner of Piccadilly, the place was moderately busy for a weekday afternoon. Price: Starting from around £25 for mains, their prices are reasonable for what it is, a live performance with a main dish and sides to match. I paid £80 for my order (which includes a 12.5% service fee so don't worry about tipping), there are other items on the menu that are cheaper. Recommend? Yes! If you are going there prepare to be interactive with your chef. In my opinion, they are only extra funny and open when they receive positive affirmation while performing."

"I was so excited to go there as the restaurant has excellent reviews. I really wanted to try their sushi even before the pandemic. Disappointing wasn’t sufficient. I don’t consider it’s Japanese restaurant because I don’t think if sushi is served the restaurant is Japanese. There is no Japanese person and no Japanese style service available. Don’t take me wrong, I’m not insisting without Japanese staff it can’t be Japanese restaurant. There is no properly cooked japanese food and all over food quality is very poor. First of all, I can tell with confidence all supposed to warm dishes are just microwaved. As soon as we ordered those dishes very familiar microwave sound started. supposed to be steamed chicken gyoza came floating in water. I can tell those are definitely frozen food from most probably certain Chinese cash and carry wholesale store. Spinach was incredibly tough. It may be good for you if you are on extremely high fibre diet but I felt I had become a cow. Sushi was another huge disappointment. Quality was poor although eatable. But I would rather prefer to eat that quality sushi at one of the famous chain restaurant’s branch in Victoria Street. Because it’d be more spacious and more importantly cleaner. But the worst part was when we ordered CURRY UDON! The waitress didn’t understand what we were asking because she pronounce it CA-RAY UDON and insisted she had asked what we water was noodle in soup. In my opinion even curry udon is noodle in curry soup. But by the time we had realised we made a big mistake and decided to leave as quick as we could, so didn’t argue. And when the bill came we just paid the amount. it stated that ‘no service charge is included’ and some Korean that neither of us didn’t understand. Since we left no tip the waitress suddenly became very rude. She even didn’t bother to say good-bye! I will never go there again and wouldn’t recommend anybody who would like to eat decent Japanese food."

"Have visited this restaurant many times and always been impressed with food, service etc. Our last visit seemed to be not up to their usual high standard possibly due to being very busy. Food was slow to arrive there was a long gap between different parts of our main and the drinks arrived after the starters. The wait staff were rushed off their feet but kept their composure and could not be faulted. They did knock 10% off the bill. If we visit again it won’t be on a Saturday."

"a real hit or miss that is a scandal, as it is the only good sushi around the soft bowl crab is good, like the sushi and the general standard of the food. However, the hot eating can disappoint the greatest sleepers of this place are the ridiculous time that it takes to get food, the non-maintenance of the foreign staff and the fact that maybe once from 40 deliveries I have actually got everything I have paid and again only once I have been properly compensated for, I will continue to use it, but I like to lick my food now, so I check, I have actually everything."

"Consistently shocking service. I feel like the person who works there has a future as a doctor's surgery receptionist, they do as much as possible to prevent you ordering. They try and get you to use a machine to order, which often doesn't work, and if you mention it you get scowled at. They seem unaware of how to fix it. They are extremely rude when you arrive and if you're lucky enough to get their attention they treat you as an inconvenience, manners don't exist. They are obviously focused on Deliveroo rather than walk ins for lunch. Sadly it's nice enough sushi (albeit a very confusing menu that makes no sense on the ordering machine) but the service is rude and confusing. This has happened on too many occasions now and I won't be returning."

"my man and I visited for what we thought would be a nice relaxing Sunday evening dinner in our neighbourship, as we live near. but we immediately regretted the decision. the restaurant was completely empty (and we should have left after we had seen that. it was cold inside and there was hardly personal. we ordered a bottle prosecco, which took quite a long time to arrive, and were charged £40 for a bottle canti that we suspected that they had ran and bought next to the tesco. booze is always highly marked, but at least have a brand on the hand where the customer does not know that it costs £8 at tesco. the waitress did not even pour the prosecco; she brought the bottle and we had to pour ourselves. the appetizers were well presented and tastefully. the nets (steak and lamb and sides were very average; my lamb was barely dreaming, which meant that I had to eat it quickly, so I didn't have to eat cold lamb. £220 for an average dinner with a bottle cheap super market prosecco (oh and £10 for a bottle of still water! is simply absurd. we eat in michelin star high-end restaurants quite regularly that costs £500 for two people, so this is no problem with price. I've never seen anything about food quality, environment, service, general experience. Avoid this crazy overpriced place with average life means!"

"I love this place- the cashiers are lovely, the food always tastes fresh and well seasoned, and the price point is amazing for the portion sizes you get. Your food is prepared fast but with care, my favourite thing is to get takeaway and take it down to the gardens to eat. I can’t recommend it enough. Their Kimbap is really good!"

"Booked restaurant by mistake but decided to have a go. Lovely staff. It was our 22nd anniversary but reservation seemed lost. Cocktails were poor.! mine was served in a ceramic black cup and was half full with ice cubes, the kokokura? Dinner was ok its all about a tasting menu but selection was poor. We had to order a lot to be filled up, some dishes were extremely expensive ie:the duck . Not one dish was outstanding or memorable. Service was amazing i did not dislike the reastaurant but as a chef i was disappointed, I've had better Japanese food. For people with little knowledge of food then it's worth a try can't say I would be back."
