"We arrived at the restaurant without a reservation but were able to be seated. We found the food to be of higher quality compared to Pizza Express, which we used as a benchmark. The boys enjoyed their squid starter, while I always love the tomato brushetta. We also ordered mixed olives, which came in a tasty garlic herb dressing. For our main courses, the boys had a chicken burger and pepperoni pizza, both of which were generous portions. I opted for the pumpkin, ricotta, and crispy sage leaves ravioli, which was handmade and absolutely delicious. However, I wish the portion size had been larger or that it could have been offered as a starter for a lower price. The dish reminded me of a similar one at Watson and Walpole in Framlingham, but was much more affordable. We all ordered cokes, which were served with ice and lemon. The only thing missing was the chili oil that we used to find on the tables, which the boys requested for their pizza. We decided to skip dessert as we found the prices to be a bit high for the portion sizes, especially without a voucher and on a Saturday when there was no set menu offered. The service was decent, although one of the waitresses was quite loud when shouting orders across the restaurant, making the atmosphere a bit less relaxing. Instead, we opted to enjoy pastries, cakes, and coffee at H&H Honey and Harvey in Woodbridge, where I highly recommend the almond croissant."

"I must say, I was so disappointed with my visit to Fredricks. My friend and I went for afternoon tea and were really looking forward to it. But we both found the experience really disappointing. Firstly the afternoon tea cakes looked nothing like the advert, nowhere near as fancy. The scones were lovely but we only had about a couple of tablespoons of cream between the two of us which wasn’t enough! The chap who initially gave us our tea was lovely but then once he had gone we didn’t see a soul. There was no one coming to check if we were ok or needed refills. I ended up drinking cold tea and my friend who had a coffee had nothing once that was finished. It wasn’t until we were practically finished that someone else came to have afternoon tea that we could actually grab someone to ask them for a refill! The ambiance of the afternoon tea was awful. Initially there was lovely music in the background but after about 15 mins it was turned off and we were left in silence. All we could hear were staff in the next room shouting to each other about something or other. There was no atmosphere at all and we actually felt like we shouldn’t be there! I’ve been to a number of afternoon teas and this was by far the worst one I have had. However this was my friends first afternoon tea and we thought that Fredricks would be fabulous for a first time tea..... but she was so disappointed! I felt really bad for her! : I don’t think I would come again."

"Met up with friends in The Terrace Restaurant of the Amba Hotel. It’s in a very convenient position for travellers coming through the very busy station which is just next door. The Strand is always a busy thoroughfare and it’s a good meeting place with...buses coming through frequently. The Foyer And corridors were nicely decorated but on arriving in the bar nexr to the Terrace restaurant it felt rather under dressed. There were Christmas trees and decorations but it felt. Bit open and not very warm..as we had just come in from the very cold street it didn’t feel very welcoming. The Table in a long narrow room over looking the Strand again had a good view not much else going for it. The staff seemed distracted ..I don’t know what by, there seemed to be a few young Waitreses around , none of them rushing to take our order, we had to call them over for everything. . Gin and Tomic was good and 2 glasses of wine picked from a not very good selection. We ordered the Chicken thighs stuffed with some filling, cream sauce, four thin slices of radish and that was it? The chicken round the outside of the five thin rounds on the plate was so thin and quite dry you would not have known what you were eating. The sauce was good but that was all. The Fish and Chips was Ok, 8 messed up peas, chunky chips in a basket were about the highlight of the lunch. Not very good at all! The prices were not reasonable for the quantity and quality of the food that was served. Ice creams were 3 ballsof 3 flavours and then Coffee..but that arrived nearly cold. It was clean and nice table cloths and napkins. Lots of nationalities in the staff but Very disappointing to say the least.. I was surprised because they have so much competition there you would have thought it would have been good. I shall not be rushing back..can do better I think?"
