"We often visit Portobello and have tried a few cafes in the area. This one was on our list to try so we did. My partner and I were seated at a table that needed cleared as we wanted a window seat. The staff member cleaned it but was a little slapdash about it and wiped some of the debris onto my knees. The service was a bit slow but overall the food was ok. Slightly pricey for what it was but ok. Very handy for both the high street and the beach."

"The restaurant was clean and well-maintained. The staff at check-in weren't very helpful, but the bar employees were attentive to arriving customers. It's worth noting that Skye Island relies heavily on tourism during a short season, so prices may be higher. Overall, it was an okay experience. The breakfast selection was limited but the room was clean and comfortable. Just keep in mind that this is more of a pub than a hotel."

"This restaurant was an incredible surprise! We were on our way to our hotel and decided to stop by without checking any reviews. As we entered, we noticed a sign asking for patience due to being short-staffed, which made me a bit skeptical. However, the delicious smells wafting from outside hinted that we were in for something special. In the end, the staff was fantastic and attentive, and the food was outstanding—we ordered the seafood platter for two. They also offer gluten-free bread that actually tastes like real bread! But the real highlight was their salmon chowder, which I had never tried before; now I can’t imagine enjoying chowder any other way. I highly recommend you visit and experience it for yourself!"

"Visited the restaurant on the 7th September for lunch. Coffee machine not working!! Had the beefburgers in bun with fries a cold drink. The drink was luke warm as were the chips, nice burger though. Overpriced for what we got. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: £10–20"

"My husband and I were staying in the hotel next door so finished 2 of our evenings in this charming cafe. As soon as you are seated a bottle of water and 2 glasses are immediately brought to your table, could so easily have been...in France! My husband adored his Irish coffee whilst I tried a couple of different cocktails, both of which were really good. On the Thursday evenings at weekend eves) they have live music so it was great to catch the end of the set. The night we were there, the music was provided by a keyboard player who also sang and a guitarist, both of whom were very good and despite being close to them the volume was not overwhelming, just perfect."

"I had lunch here on the first day of the restaurant opening amazing seafood fresh off local trawlers. As it was the first day the staff served the seafood in takeaway boxes which I loved! The monkfish had come that day off the restaurant owners family boat. Fantastic food the best we had on our trip around the Scottish Isles! Even better was the friendly service from the staff including at the bar next door. Thank you so much for a great day!!! Service: Dine in"

"Fantastically terrible. Unwelcoming staff as guests in this town we did not feel welcome at this place. The bartender was more interested in watching the game than helping the customers. We ordered some food hoping it would be decent. DH ordered the haddock, which was ok. Not great, but tolerable. I ordered the scampi. So many regrets. I'm still trying to digest that processed hunk of grease. Broke one open and severely regretted the sight of that slimy piece of shellfish. Been traveling through the UK for the last couple weeks, and this was hands down the worst meal I've had on this trip. The food was nothing but Sysco (heavily processed food supplier in the US) quality processed junk. Don't order the scampi plate. For the sake of your stomach, don't do it."
