"disappoint. have lived in the areas for 3 years and meaningfully try to support how the local businesses. you have to say that everything was a little tired and dated. very limited menu and the waiter had zero initiative and a modest bypass. my partner asked for various kartoffels to the maic with the lamb; his immediate blunt reaction was £3,50 extra for each side. the only steak was on a stone they cook at the table itself. I get a discount for cooking, his answer was reflected in the price. I asked if I cooked the steak from the chef and could pay something extra. No, we can't do this because we don't have the facilities, was the bizarre answer. a restaurant that can cook a steak! starters were poor, lamb was beautiful, huh was very poor and tiny. felt like left. not back. the owners should also teach the waiter some customer focus and take a look at what they are trying to achieve in 2018."

I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The sea bass and Blackstone steak were delicious. The chef was accommodating and made adjustments for my food intolerances, such as replacing chili and garlic. I will definitely be returning.

when they go to canopy, they can feel a little confused by the decoration but if they are satisfied and by the two wonderfully attentive and yet unintrusive gents, which was supervised by the place they are pleasantly surprised, eating is beautifully well presented, fast and not yet hastened. a beautiful evening that wants to go back soon.

We had a fantastic evening at Kanu celebrating a birthday during one of their jazz nights. The food was excellent, made with quality ingredients and presented in a delicious and attractive manner. The bar was well stocked and served great cocktails. The atmosphere was cozy and there were also private dining options on the upper floor if needed. I will definitely be booking another jazz night at Kanu. It's great to have this right at our doorstep without having to go into the city. View menu

We visited on a sunny day and there was plenty of outdoor seating, although we chose the table offered to us inside. Our choice of food began with the main course and we enjoyed a large portion of pie of the day (steak and guinness), seafood risotto and fresh sea bream. All dishes were well cooked, delicious. There was a good wine list which included some reasonably priced choices. None of us had room for dessert but the coffee was freshly ground and helped to finish an enjoyable meal.

I visited this restaurant for the second time and had a great experience. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. The staff were helpful but not intrusive, giving us space to enjoy our meal. There were a few families and groups of friends dining, which added to the cozy atmosphere. The portion sizes of the food were generally perfect, although I was pleasantly surprised by the generous portion of mussels in my starter. They were delicious. I have recommended The Canopy to my friends.

"I visited my elderly Mum today, she suggested going to the Derby Arms for a roast dinner as she'd eaten there recently with my sister. However they were fully booked, so I looked online and found Galu. The reviews were great and my Mum has only ever heard good things from friends and neighbours. So I called and booked for 12:45 Sunday 21st Jan 2024. We were both pleasantly surprised to see roast dinners on the menu ... Mum order lamb and I ordered beef part of their set menu. When the dinners arrived, you could see straight away that the lamb was Very Fatty (not even crispy) when my my tried eating it, it was both tough and chewy! As for the beef, this was cooked ok and edible, although I asked for the beef to be medium, but it was more well done. The waiter came over to ask if the meal was ok, I highlighted how the lamb was... the manager then came over and offered my Mum a slice of beef to compensate, bearing in mind she ordered lamb. Mum subsequently found that some of her roast potatoes were hard inside! I finished my meal, but could see Mum really didn't enjoy hers leaving a substantial amount on her plate, and having tried her lamb it really was inedible! We were then offered a full list of desserts rather than the set menu, having chocolate brownie and creme brûlée (both were gorgeous) When the bill arrived, I was hoping they would have somehow made amends, but alas no ... as Mum doesn't like to cause a fuss and it was her treat, I decided not to say anything, although the staff manager could tell we weren't happy. Having come from East Sussex for the day and regularly have great Sunday roasts in local pubs, I was hoping for something special in this restaurant, but sadly that wasn't the case. In fact it's probably one of the worst roast dinners I've had in a long time. I very much doubt we'll return ..."
