"The atmosphere of this place is very historical. Once entered asked if we have reservation which we did not. However still let us in and allowed us to sit where ever we wanted. I highly recommend to make a reservation on specially occasions as it may be busy. Falafel was delicious, however Humus was as not thick as it it should but I used it as a topping for the main food and made small little wraps-which given extra taste to it. The mains were also good however, the chicken could have been cooked a little longer. The food was also unsalted for my likings but again I am a person who likes salt the only negative part would be this and also not provided with a salt when asked :"

Al-Shami is a decent spot for Middle Eastern food in the town of Oxford.

Food is amazing!! We ordered the family plate for 2-3 persons. We had three people eating and had food left. Great Mom and Pop Square. Very recommended.

We went as family for second time as visitors in Oxford. The food is excellent and they have many vegetarian options that our daughter loves. The place is humble but clea and you can feel at home. We will surely come back and recommend.

Good food and good fast service : ! Having student discount could help more to get more students to come as well. We ordered vegetarian option and one meat option came by a mistake, which they did not replace it with another dish was one flaw that could be improved. Potentially having more of the bread or hummus could help more with big number of people. View menu

Nice and cosy middle Eastern restaurant in Oxford. Food is delicious, slightly overpriced (or size of the portions could have been better or vermicelli rice could have given as part of the main meal . Waiting time and the order processing time are in the acceptable region : The restaurant is very neat and clean. I would recommend this place to anyone. Thanks.

The restaurant has a beautiful interior with an open and spacious environment. The staff is friendly. We tried the family menu for 2/3 people, which was actually enough for 3 or 4 people. We opted for the crockett, which was crispy and delicious. The bill came to £45 including soft drinks and service fee. While it may seem a bit expensive, we were satisfied with our experience and would recommend it. The food quality was good.

"I've been going to Oxford for 3 years now and in that time to be frank struggled to find a decent go to restaurant. I can now say with delight i've found my destination. I present SPICED ROOTS a little caribbean culinary gem. The fresh perfectly cooked food is absolutely delicious and gives off that home cooked by mummy vibe and is beautifully presented. The chilli and garlic prawns had my eyes closed Mark Weins style (if you know you know) so juicy with an incredible depth of flavour, the Trini doubles not only were seasoned to perfection they left you wanting more and the Jerk chicken spring rolls were an absolute triumph. For mains we had the ackee and callaloo Jerk Tempah (vegetarian) and the Jerk chicken. Both came with rice peas, plaintain and salad. Not only were the portions huge the flavours of both dishes were just mind blowingly delicious. Then we embarked on dessert and had the beautiful spiced rum cake and a selection of 3 home made ice creams namely Coconut, Guinness and the old Caribbean favourite Rum and Raisin, all recommended by the owner. It's at this point I feel compelled to speak about the rum raisin ice cream. I've eaten this ice cream on numerous occasions at numerous locations in Jamaica over my many years and I tell you no word of a lie this was hands down the best rum and raisin ice cream I've ever tasted, it literally left us speechless. So to summarise, this place has great food, great music, great service and a wonderfully charming owner who's totally invested in serving great, incredibly tasty, authentic Caribbean food clearly prepared with love. What more could you ask for. Fair to say it was meant to be. Uncle Jay."
