this is a traditional country pub serving good food. I have no idea why it is listed on urbanspoon as harrow.

This is a fantastic find out in the countrysideWell kept ale, and a local ale (brewed just up the road) on tap as well.

We enjoyed our food but it didn't live up to expectations which were high due to previous reviews. Service was fine wouldn't be in a hurry to return.I had the beef blade and my wife had the mackerel and a spiced banana cake for dessert. We had lunch on a Friday at 2pm.

I absolutely adore the atmosphere of this restaurant and was thrilled to bring a friend who is new to the area. I keep up with their various menus on social media and am aware that the chef utilizes seasonal produce. Unfortunately, the service was slow and inefficient, and there were limited options for vegetarians. However, the food itself was heavenly. Below average experience. Roast dinners sold out by 4:20pm, went for the sausage and mash, my partner chose the cottage pie- both sadly below average. We last ate here 3 years ago and today was suppose to be a little bit of luxury- left me...feeling I make both dishes better at home myself. Service was mediocre. Was sat waiting for a menu and drinks for around 15 minutes. Such a shame as this place has stacks of potential. We skipped dessert due to our mains experience.

We used to live around Frithsden over 10 years ago and this was our favourite pub. We recently visited for my wife's birthday and were not disappointed. The ambiance, friendliness and quality of the food haven't changed and that's a very good thing. There's a focused menu which must make it easier to ensure quality. My only criticism is that first choice of dish was not quite ready yet so I had to choose an alternative. Disappointing that the chef hadn't quite got things ready for the start of lunch service, but the fall back choice was still excellent. I did not want to have to write this review. I actually phoned the Alford Arms and spoke to someone about our disappointing experience and especially with regard to the flies. I was told someone would get back to me on Monday but sadly no...one did. We were eating indoors and yet there were flies (large fat black ones) buzzing around our table the whole time. I was constantly having to flap them away! This should not happen during any meal anywhere! I should stress that this was not during the recent heatwave but on a fairly normal July day.
