"Unfortunately the website lead us to think that this hotel was set in beautiful grounds and was an elegant country house. One arrives at the back of the hotel which looks very rundown, giving a bad first impression, overlooking a large commercial building with a big car park. The hotel needs updating and seemed to be running on a skeleton staff, although the two people we did see were pleasant. The front of the building was obviously grand at one time but looks faded. The restaurant was not open for dinner so we had to find an alternative place to eat, but breakfast was quite good. Our bedroom, although clean, was not in the main house which might have given us a better impression. Our room was in an extension and was only adequate and overlooked a large car park."

Fawlty Towers Really sweet staff . Great breakfast. Not a venue for night time food at all Needs SO much money nt on the building. Outside views from windows... no excuse to be this dirty

The sole staff for the accommodation was v helpful. Lots of huge old furniture spread across the front room, which is very cold (temperature) and it turned out this is where the breakfast is also served. I don't think it will be a place I would like to be booked again. The good bits about it probably though very eerily is that it is quiet and the shower room was spacious and brightly clean.

Worst venue we have attended , food was cold and wasn't very good standard, bar was not stocked correctly . Bride and groom had water pouring in there room all night . Very tired venue ! Please think carefully before you book your venue/ special day here !!!! Went to a wedding at White Hart recently much nicer venue food there was excellent and the rooms were 1st class, Alfreton Hall should take a look at there venue and learn !!!

Shocking service. Phoned every day for a week and left messages on multiple lines to book afternoon tea. No one responded to my queries and once had got hold of someone. They were very dismissive and did not feel that they wanted my business. When I mentioned that I had phoned and left messages the person just did not seem bothered and then hung the phone up on me. So I will or would not recommend alferton hall for lack of customer service.

Myself and my new husband would like to say a massive thank you to Luke, Josh and all the team at Alfreton hall that helped make our wedding day absolutely perfect! Everything ran so smoothly and we both felt so relaxed. We couldn't fault a thing and the food was delicious, there was very positive comments from our guests about the beef main course and the hog roast went down a treat! Your team was very accommodating for us and even helped tweak times efficiently to allow for timings changing slightly due to our later arrival to the reception. We would highly recommend Alfreton Hall as the perfect wedding reception and look forward to coming back to enjoy the other events it has to offer.

"we enjoyed another very pleasant dinner at the Dog’ in pentrich recently. it is a very civilized but relaxed escaping area, and the type of place where people are miles for, for the culinary experience traveling and with good ground. eating is good. the dining room is spacious, contemporary and beautifully furnished with a relaxed ambiente. also the adjacent bar area is very cozy and cozy. we were warmly welcomed and immediately shown on our table. the service was attentive and pleasant, without being overlaid or intrusive. our meals were very pleasant and we enjoyed the selection of things we had (start, head and dessert). However, it seemed to be some unconsistencies with a portion size. with the appetizers the leek and the potato portion was very small a piece laek about two centimeters long filled with cheese and in a sea of sauce to convey the grasp of “more”. the crispy szechuan cauliflower and aubergine, on the other hand, contained large parts of the two components of the teller. similar to the net, the green thai chicken contained three very large portions of huh in different shapes: a large chicken breast as the main component of the Thai chicken shell, accompanied by a huge serving of shredded chicken in rice, and a huge Bao beer filled with a large piece of baked chicken. while the various components were delicious, it was just chicken overload, almost like three main dishes as one, and much too much. the same applies to the puddings we have chosen. the dog inn trifle was a huge bowl with lemon-rossel sponge, with white chocolate-creuzard, and celestial gel and sorbet. the yorkshire rhubarb cheesecake, on the other hand, was a very small roll of cheesecake with a puppy game of rhubarb sorbet and a few pieces of poached rhubarb. our meals were certainly delicious, and we enjoyed them. the hanger steak was cooked nicely after a discussion about it; it was clearly stated on the menu that the hanger steak was ‘Served ‘Pink or well Done’, but we were informed that it could not be ordered well. which condition is then on the menu? the dog is worth looking. it is in the beautiful and historical village pentrich, on the b1016 between the towns ripley and alfreton in derbyshire. we're coming back."
