"Booked afternoon tea, had to re check booking as the first time they didnt ask for a name or phone number and we wanted to know they could provide options for someone who was Gluten free. They said they could provide Gluten free but it was revealed they obviously couldnt when we received the afternoon teas. The gluten free option consisted of cheesecake and a couple of bought in cakes, nothing was home made, there was no scone for the gluten free person...... the staple of afternoon tea....how long does it take to knock up a batch of gluten free scones. The sandwiches consisted of two approx 2 triangles one ham one cheese and a split bread roll with very runny egg mayonaise on it, no salad or garnish to make it at least cover the micro small bottom of the cake stand, there was a scone provided on the non gluten free option and it seemed home made and there was lashings of cream and jam and it was very nice, the other cakes consisted of a difficult to describe moose type thing that had been cut so thin it just dissolved into nothing, a massive dry piece of victoria sponge....shop bought with nasty cheap butter cream and a quite nice home made but miniscule chocolate eclair. We had to ask for tea and coffee to be provided. The staff clearly had no clue what to provide for afternoon tea but were attentive and helpful and pleasant, the surroundings were quite grand but in need of some housekeeping, cobwebs in corners and on lights, a lovely view onto a veranda with a fountain and across the park. It cost us £12.50 each and it was daylight robbery for what we got, on the whole the place seemed to lack anyone in charge and appeared tired and lack lustre and they need a chef who understands gluten free diets and options and who knows how to provide an afternoon tea that has at least some wow factor. We didnt complain to the waiter as he was doing his best but wont be recommending the venue to anyone else."

The building was very nice, but the event itself was poorly organized. There was no seating plan, so it was chaotic and seemed disorganized. We probably won't attend again next year, as there are better events to choose from.

My wedding reception was dire. I paid thousands to be spoken to awfully. Please if you book this place, just book the building, do not use anything they supply. It was all terrible and has been nothing but stress. Joshua Holmes is not a manager he is simply a salesman and does not take complaints seriously or do what he said he is going to do. I just can't even, anymore, it's exhausting. Utterly disappointed Demi Florence. View menu

I received a wowcher voucher as a Hanukkah gift and decided to bring along a corporate guest to try out the sandwiches and pastries at this restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. I ordered the egg sandwich, while my guest chose a grated cheese sandwich without butter. We both enjoyed a delicious scone with red jam (without butter) and washed it all down with a lovely cup of tea with boiled water (milk and sugar optional). I can't wait to use my next voucher at this restaurant.

We got married at Alfreton Hall at the weekend. Everything was perfect. The staff were friendly and attentive. The Hall was spectacular the Christmas decorations made it really quite special. A beautiful venue for a wedding. The food was great and plentiful. The firework display was superb. Feedback from all the guests that we spoke to was nothing but superb. The master bedroom has to be seen to be believed fantastic. All the other rooms were great too! Thank you so much for making our special day absolutely perfect.

We had our wedding at Alfreton Hall in September 2020. We had booked our date over a year in advance, before the pandemic. Despite the challenges, Josh and Alex were incredibly supportive and accommodating. When our church canceled our ceremony, they helped us arrange a civil ceremony at the venue. The day was perfect with amazing food, excellent communication, and everything going according to plan (after a few adjustments due to COVID). We hope to return for a larger reception party next year to celebrate with more guests. Thank you for making our wedding day so unforgettable! View menu

A very disappointing Christmas afternoon tea. We were shocked as to how standards have slipped since our last visit. Upon arrival we weren’t shown to our table but the greeter merely pointed to our table from the other side of the room and said “that’s your table over there!” The room was freezing cold so we kept our coats on throughout the stay. One of the other guests commented that her hands were so cold her fingers were numb. When the soup arrived it was cold. There was no bread roll or butter which we had to ask for. When the bread rolls were brought out instead of us being offered one, the server picked them up in his bare hand, leaned across each of us to put them on our plates. We we...

Have visited Alfreton hall on several occasions for afternoon tea usually via a groupon offer which is excellent value. Had booked a specific date, as my friend had flown down from Scotland, confirmed the date both in an e mail and via phone, and they had made special arrangements to allow us to have our afternoon tea on the date but in the bar area as a wedding fair was being held, unfortunately upon arrival, we found some “opportunists” had taken our place and were eating our afternoon tea package! Someone had told the staff when asked “have you booked?” ...yes ... and they were lead to MY table! As this was being specifically laid on for myself and my friend, the Hall had only catered for...

"we enjoyed another very pleasant dinner at the Dog’ in pentrich recently. it is a very civilized but relaxed escaping area, and the type of place where people are miles for, for the culinary experience traveling and with good ground. eating is good. the dining room is spacious, contemporary and beautifully furnished with a relaxed ambiente. also the adjacent bar area is very cozy and cozy. we were warmly welcomed and immediately shown on our table. the service was attentive and pleasant, without being overlaid or intrusive. our meals were very pleasant and we enjoyed the selection of things we had (start, head and dessert). However, it seemed to be some unconsistencies with a portion size. with the appetizers the leek and the potato portion was very small a piece laek about two centimeters long filled with cheese and in a sea of sauce to convey the grasp of “more”. the crispy szechuan cauliflower and aubergine, on the other hand, contained large parts of the two components of the teller. similar to the net, the green thai chicken contained three very large portions of huh in different shapes: a large chicken breast as the main component of the Thai chicken shell, accompanied by a huge serving of shredded chicken in rice, and a huge Bao beer filled with a large piece of baked chicken. while the various components were delicious, it was just chicken overload, almost like three main dishes as one, and much too much. the same applies to the puddings we have chosen. the dog inn trifle was a huge bowl with lemon-rossel sponge, with white chocolate-creuzard, and celestial gel and sorbet. the yorkshire rhubarb cheesecake, on the other hand, was a very small roll of cheesecake with a puppy game of rhubarb sorbet and a few pieces of poached rhubarb. our meals were certainly delicious, and we enjoyed them. the hanger steak was cooked nicely after a discussion about it; it was clearly stated on the menu that the hanger steak was ‘Served ‘Pink or well Done’, but we were informed that it could not be ordered well. which condition is then on the menu? the dog is worth looking. it is in the beautiful and historical village pentrich, on the b1016 between the towns ripley and alfreton in derbyshire. we're coming back."
