"we enjoyed another very pleasant dinner at the Dog’ in pentrich recently. it is a very civilized but relaxed escaping area, and the type of place where people are miles for, for the culinary experience traveling and with good ground. eating is good. the dining room is spacious, contemporary and beautifully furnished with a relaxed ambiente. also the adjacent bar area is very cozy and cozy. we were warmly welcomed and immediately shown on our table. the service was attentive and pleasant, without being overlaid or intrusive. our meals were very pleasant and we enjoyed the selection of things we had (start, head and dessert). However, it seemed to be some unconsistencies with a portion size. with the appetizers the leek and the potato portion was very small a piece laek about two centimeters long filled with cheese and in a sea of sauce to convey the grasp of “more”. the crispy szechuan cauliflower and aubergine, on the other hand, contained large parts of the two components of the teller. similar to the net, the green thai chicken contained three very large portions of huh in different shapes: a large chicken breast as the main component of the Thai chicken shell, accompanied by a huge serving of shredded chicken in rice, and a huge Bao beer filled with a large piece of baked chicken. while the various components were delicious, it was just chicken overload, almost like three main dishes as one, and much too much. the same applies to the puddings we have chosen. the dog inn trifle was a huge bowl with lemon-rossel sponge, with white chocolate-creuzard, and celestial gel and sorbet. the yorkshire rhubarb cheesecake, on the other hand, was a very small roll of cheesecake with a puppy game of rhubarb sorbet and a few pieces of poached rhubarb. our meals were certainly delicious, and we enjoyed them. the hanger steak was cooked nicely after a discussion about it; it was clearly stated on the menu that the hanger steak was ‘Served ‘Pink or well Done’, but we were informed that it could not be ordered well. which condition is then on the menu? the dog is worth looking. it is in the beautiful and historical village pentrich, on the b1016 between the towns ripley and alfreton in derbyshire. we're coming back."

Four of us visited early evening between Christmas and New Year. The place was busy but the service and food was very good. Portions were plentiful and it was all very tasty. The place had a good, welcoming atmosphere.

Called for a bite to eat. Nice looking pub but very cold where we sat. Food wasn’t great, the ribeye steak was barely 5mm thick and couldn’t have weighed 6oz which made it expensive at £24.95. Mussels were not good, the broth they were cooked...in was dreadfully salty, the artisan bread was very stale. Wouldn’t recommend it.

Haven't been to The Dog for a long time and what a welcome return! The menu was varied and at times unusual with little twists on the usual pub menu. I was asked about intolerances on booking which I explained on booking. When I arrived...a personel menu had been written out fir me saving all the embarrassment and waiting I hate when having to ask and staff having to go to check. This list was wonderful to me, a great start to a wonderful meal so thank you! The service was great too. We will return!

We visited here finally after failing a couple of times (our fault). We arrived a little early and had a couple of drinks at the bar. Lovely welcome and great village feel. Got chatting to what I presume was the landlady and she was so...welcoming and chatted about the area and the history around it. Food wise, wow! We enjoy food and restaurants and was very very impressed. The small plates are excellent, especially the Szechuan Cauliflower. For mains we had the Veggie Bao and then Hanger Steak. I dont order steak very much as im usually disappointed but was intrigued by the Hanger as its not a cut you see often but it was incredible. Cooked as i wanted, the bone marrow addition was excellen...

The number of pubs and restaurants that say they are accessible for wheelchair users and prove not to be. It's very frustrating. However I am pleased to report that the Dog Inn is very much accessible. From the logical placement of disabled parking bays to...wide opening doors and ramps to wide corridors and enough space in the restaurant to accommodate a wheelchair. All on one level.Other restaurant owners take note. After all it should be access for all, right? I am also pleased to report the food was quite simply stunning. We both had Sunday roasts, lamb and pork respectively . Vegetables are served separately in hot small pans on a wooden base. Carrot and Swede mash, wonderful home baked...
