"Lonely Planet recommended this hotel and restaurant in the tiny town of Ficuzza, between Corleone and Palermo. SIRI was having a difficult time with the Italian, I guess, and we had many misdirections in finding Ficuzza. When we finally got to the charming little mountain town in a forest preserve, we couldn't find the restaurant. We asked a perfectly dressed elderly gentleman, who spoke little English, for help and since he couldn't express the directions, he walked us down a grassy hill in the forest to the hotel and restaurant! It turns out his grandson lives in San Jose. The hotel, a restored old railroad station thus the name) is beautiful and the obvious setting for many wedding and other large celebrations. We arrived just in time to be served lunch the last remaining diners were just finishing up), and we were so glad we made it. Unable to communicate much with the server, we indicated that she should pick, and she came out with a truly vast plate of antipasti-artichoke frittata, marinated egg plant and red peppers, salami, cheese, olives, polenta, prosciutto. We couldn't believe all the delicious food. We changed our order, so that after that, we had one main dish, home made pasta with sausage and mushrooms, to share. Still, we had to take two boxes home, which we had for breakfast in the airport the next day! The entire adventure and the delicious meal form a great memory of Sicily for us."
