"From the moment we arrived until the moment we left the owners of this hotel couldn’t have been nicer and always on hand if you needed anything. We had a lovely spacious room overlooking a field with horses and a very quiet road. Slept well. Breakfast both days were delicious, various cereals, fruit juices, yogurts and fresh fruit to choose from as well as a choice of items for a cooked breakfast. Dairy free alternatives available on request. Lost a point for dinner, I had fish and chips, being beside the sea I thought the fish would have been fresh but it was a frozen brand and not the best. The hotel is around 30 minutes walk from Kirkcudbright, a nicer walk along the river. Kirkcudbright itself is beautiful, lovely walks, buildings etc, places to eat, coffee shops and pubs. If you have a car you could visit the many beaches in the area, we visited a few and they were beautiful and peaceful. If I am down in that area again I would definitely stay in the Arden House Hotel, their hospitality would be hard to beat. 100% recommend."

Enjoyed our stay once again in this warm, welcoming hotel. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent and the little waitress serving dinner was very efficient and pleasant. Very relaxing and great value for money. We would, and already have, recommended this hotel.

We had a smashing long weekend cycling, with Arden House as our base. Very clean throughout and rooms are very cosy. Staff and owners were really friendly and helpful. Lovely breakfast, as was dinner on evening. Would definitely recommend. Thanks for a lovely weekend. View menu

Fantastic hotel , from the smiles of the owners to the service, to the fantastic rooms, first class there was no faulting the whole experience. I will certainly be back to such a warm and inviting hotel perfectly positioned above the river Dee with easy access to all local amenity's.

Stayed for two nights, had never been to the area before. Contacted the hotel as we would be arriving after the restaurant had closed, but they stayed open for us. Had a full selection and specials. Enjoyed it so much that we made a reservation for the following night. Breakfast was off a menu, just pick what you want, full waitress service.

Arden House is a fabulous old building from the early 1700s set in beautiful gardens with nice views and ample parking. Although a little way out of town, the walk along the river was flat, easy and very pleasant. Breakfast included a wide choice of hot and cold dishes and was first class. The room was very comfortable and Leah was a lovely host. Who could ask for more! View menu

Went here on the 13th March 2024,and what a beautiful place where to start, booking in very easy no problems whatsoever went up to room no 17 first floor I think one of the cleanest rooms I’ve ever been in,a big room one king bed and a single bed with en suite that you could take your dinner off it was that clean. The staff were excellent especially Jackie who we had a good wee chat with at dinner which again was first class as was breakfast.Would recommend this hotel To any one.Ounce again thanks for a great time

We stayed overnight for our wedding anniversary and had a lovely time. The room had distant views over the river, was comfortable and well appointed. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. We actually ate from the Senior Citizens set menu, whch was 3 courses for £10.75, and whilst the portions weren't huge, they were more than acceptable, freshly cooked and very tasty. During the sunny evening we lost count of the bunnies on the lawn. Breakfast the next morning was also very good with cereal, yughurt, fruit juice, porridge, toast and a full cooked breakfast to choose from. I would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel to others.

"Myself and my partner where just outside of portpatrick yesterday and wondered about somewhere to have lunch, it was about 12.30pm on a scorching hot Bank holiday Sunday. We hadn’t actually planned to go there to start with but thought why not. I saw on Facebook Connors Restaurant had just uploaded a Facebook post about stopping there for a choice of 2 lovely menus and a cheeky gin, sounded perfect! The post had went up about 15 mins before we arrived, so I assumed they must be looking to take some tables. I walked down and there where 2 tables taken outside, and 1 table inside. I asked if I could get a table for 2 outside if possible and I was told no they had been reserved and I thought okay but before I could even open my mouth again she said all tables inside where also reserved that they where fully booked. There was 1 table inside, other wise it was pretty empty. Ok no problem, we found somewhere else so no big deal, after about 2 hours spent having food and wondering around we went back to the car (parked just up from Connors restaurant) and I noticed again there was only the 1 table outside, and no one at the others. I’m maybe wrong but I felt like this was odd, the inside didn’t look like it was “fully booked” either. It actually looked a little dead compared to everywhere else. This has also happened to my friends a couple of times too they’ve went in and the place has been stone dead but got turned away because of the excuse of being fully booked. Just felt like it was not quite right. Sorry I never usually write reviews but felt like I had to get my point across on this one. We would love to dine here and hopefully will in the future."
