"This small town restaurant is in Tournamire, just a couple of kilometres from the cheese town of Roquefort which naturally features heavily on the menu. The restaurant is surprisingly large, has some impressive architectural features such as a large carved plaster ceiling but overall give the impression of comfortable country restaurant which has grown up over the years rather than been designed. It also has two parrots in cages which we were told will whistle the Marseillaise, although when we visited they remained silent. The service was prompt, competent and welcoming. There were three different set menus offered for Sunday lunch, and we elected for the middle priced one. There was a small quite refreshing vegetable puree as an amuse bouche and then we both had the very nice, simple fresh-tasting langoustine and asparagus terrine. Our main course was beef with a Roquefort sauce, nice beef nicely cooked and the sauce smooth, rich and tasty not harsh and salty as Roquefort sauce can be. For sweet we had a panacotta with raspberries, again simple, nice, correctly done. Overall a simple straightforward lunch, nothing exotic or highly ambitious but what was offered was done well. The wine list offered a good range of both local and better well known French wines at reasonable prices.Overall a very pleasant, traditional French Sunday lunch, nothing exceptional but quite up to, indeed possibly slightly above, its mid-range standard and price. Would certainly go again"

Do not judge this book by its cover! And take your time to peek inside. The food is an above average version of what the region has to offer, at a great price.

We went there after a visit to the Roquefort caves. The lunch was good with first quality local products and I enjoyed it but the very limited personnel made it that we waited an hour and a half for our food andvthatbis unbearable. They have to manage better.

Charming auberge with amusing parrot chatter as well as warm welcome from owner. Sunday lunch was excellent value with delicious dishes with tastes of Roquefort in several. It was too hot to eat on the terrace so we ate in the characterful dining room.Excellent longe de thon; creme brule was perfect. View menu

One can also eat on the terrace , and the 14.50€ lunch menu looked good too. Looking forward to our next visit. Very near Roquefort.

we had a really delicious and memorable meal at auberge des orchidees at an unbelievable price. set menus at 22, 34, 42 euro for 3 delicious courses and house-made amuse bouches (food also available a la carte). it was a real find for the area and far surpassed our expectations. between us we have lived 20+ years in NYC and london and we think it's probably the best value meal we've ever eaten. everything was really tasty from the bread to dessert ...delicious moules gratinee! nice service.

This is cozy village restaurant serves surprisingly high-end traditional French cooking. The 22-euro lunch menu was a sumptuous 5-course feast, balanced, well-paced, and elegantly served. Our bottle of local Marcillac red wine (also just 22 euros) was a perfect accompaniment. Sharp and creamy Roquefort cheese from the nearby Roquefort caves appeared in several dishes. The seafood ravioli are especially good. Diners can choose between the sunny porch overlooking the main street (shared with two well-behaved parrots) or the more formal high-ceilinged dining room, with comfy red velvet chairs. Highly recommended! View menu

Came to Tournemire for the Brocante market to celebrate July 14 and discovered this restaurant next door to the Mairie. Arriving early for lunch we had choice of table on the terrace - the setting was so quintessentially country French. We ordered the 22 euros menu which far exceeded expectation with Roquefort featuring in several dishes including the carpaccio of beef which was delicious. The service was friendly although at times a little slow. It was not surprising given that the restaurant had completely filled up both on the terrace and in the spacious interior. My wife and I were both impressed and will visit again

Our host recommended this restaurant to us, and we were very pleased with her recommendation.Easy to find, and with seating inside or outside. We chose inside as outside can get 'fresh' after 9pm. We were greeted with a smile and friendly welcome; water, olives and hors d'oeuvres were brought to our table. We chose the 23€ menu, which gave us an amuse bouche, starter, main course, cheese plate, and dessert. Coffee was another 2 or 3€ and was excellent. The food was excellent, well presented, and served in a very timely manner, neither slow, nor rushed. The house red wine was also very good and around 13€ for the carafe. We were amused by the two parrots, one of which sings la Marseillaise, and...
