We have Bern eating here, before we came to live here, and stayed when we were house hunting. Excellent service and food.

20 of us turned up on a windy cool day and were made very welcome; plat du jour was good and dinner was a la carte and excellent.

We have visited this restaurant several times over the last four years. We have always had a delicious meal here served by nice people

It's a fine restaurant but nothing special at the same time. You get a lot of food for your money and the food that you get is simple and good. There is plenty of choice but the food does feel a bit quick and dirty (meaning that the desert for instance is not freshly made on the spot). The service was very quick which made the experience feel a bit rushed.

We live in France and whenever we are in Vouvant we make sure to include this restaurant as our Lunch stop. It never fails. The staff are friendly and helpful and the menu covers all desires, including children's fussy appetites!I usually order moules frites in a cream sauce but this time I ordered Moules Frites in Curry sauce and it was mind-blowing! Just enjoy.

We have enjoyed this auberge on a number of occasions. The food is good the menu changes regularly. There are relaxed indoor outdoor seating areas more formal dining room by the fireplace. The service is good too; efficient friendly in conversation patient with limited French speakers! Parking is available in the car park opposite the church or in the village square in front of the Melusine Tower.

We have revisited this restaurant several times this week for lunch, dinner and just drinks/ice cream. Run by very friendly French family offering a varied menu at reasonable costs. Tables inside and outside with plenty of shady umbrellas. Right in the centre of the village close toÉglise Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption de Vouvant. There is a great circular walk round the village taking you to points of interest, along the river and up through the ramparts.

We stayed one night in the Auberge with our little dog and were made welcome, all three. We ate dinner in the smart dining room. The food was good and the service excellent. The next morning a generous breakfast was served in the bar which is a cheerful part of the Auberge.Our room was charming and comfortable and the young owners, who have been there for seven years, have made a great success of their business.We had intended to stay two nights, to explore the nearby forests as well as the fortified town, but we had to change our plans. The proprietors were understanding and refused payment for the second night despite our firm offer to pay for it.Altogether a very pleasant stay.

This is the sort of place you'd not normally find but are pleased you did.Recommended to eat here by our host at a nearby chateau 4 of us had a booking for dinner.Ok, so we sat at plastic tables outside overlooking the village square but it could not have been better.Such a friendly and charming place to eat, popular with locals and visitors alike.The service was swift and engaging. A complimentary aperitif went down well. The menu is excellent and varied. My entrecôte was sizeable and delicious washed down with a carafe of local red.The sweet courses were equally excellent.
