"This tiny Bacareto in the Santa Croce district specializes in small panini's and glasses of local wine. It was quite an experience. Once you get through waiting in line, with locals and university students, you'll enter the the tiny space greeted by 3 friendly staff (2 serving you and one preparing the panini's). Unbelievable prices, panini's between Euro 1 to 1.20 and wine ranging from 0.80 to 1. Had 3 panini's and a glass of wine for less than Euro 5. You can eat outside either on the church stairs or next to the canal. Less than a 5 minute walk from train station. Enjoy."

Awkward place where there are and where there are only sausage and cheese to eat. Well, despite that, you have to know it. They have a dozen bulk wines less than €2 so you can get hurt for little money, something unthinkable in Venice. Very blind from Piazzale Roma to get on the bus to sleep the monkey.
