Great romantic atmosphere at the bar upstairs. Classic tartare was excellent, hand cut, not ground. Fries were frozen though.

This is a gorgeous place. It has a different name now. Just reported it to @tripadvisor to fix. Wonderful service and fabulous decor. This is a very old gem in Paris. Can't wait to go back.

One of the most beautiful bar and restaurant in Paris. Worth a definite visit to either enjoy drinks or to have a bite. Great staff and management. You will recognize many of the stars in the pictures of this very old establishment under a new...owner and very nice team. Can't wait to go back.

The Bar Romain combines beautiful ambiance, friendly, well trained staff, with excellent flavors. Headed by a Joël Robuchon trained chef, the tartare was exquisite. Not sweet like the typical French style. Well balanced with fine mustard, capers, Parmesan. Or have it three ways on the sampler. A really fine bar and food just steps from the Paris Opera.

Nous sommes ici accueillis avec le sourire et une grande amabilité. Le rez-de-chaussée de l'établissement, grandement décoré, est des plus chaleureux. Au niveau de la cuisine, c'est un sans-faute. Les entrées et les plats sont fins et savoureux, les ingrédients sont bien choisis et de qualité. Reste un tarif un peu élevé, compter deux entrées, deux plats et une bière pour 70€ environ.

A Group of 8 of us stumbled upon this fabulous Restaurant during a busy lunch period. Could we be accommodated we enquired? The very friendly and welcoming staff very courteously found room for us in the delightful cellar style basement restaurant. Everyone agreed that the food was 'out of this world ' and the service truly exceptional. The copious amounts of wine consumed were very fairly priced. There were absolutely no negatives and the staff could not have been more attentive.. We will be going back!

We went to Bar Romain after I read the reviews where people say this the best tartare in town : we went next day of the reopening of the restaurant after the summer break and the only explanation I can find to my disappointment is : it is perhaps under a new management ?? With a new chef ??? The tartare was too acide : too much balsamic vinaigre probably and the experience was ruined ! Obviously paying 24 euros for a tartare you expect it to be excellent but this one was very poorly made. Then I had to endure the mood of the main waiter on the floor who again seemed to have hired new waiters and he was literally telling them off in front of us : such a bad atmosphere and disrespect to his te...

Do not miss this little jewel! you can hardly see the rue caumartin in direction bd of the capucines. even if they are aimed at the great Olympic theatre, they will hardly notice the little one that is in fact in the Olympic building. the. old bar in belle époque mode is now the actual dining room with only a few tables. even if the accommodation is available for many more guests in the cellar, where a modern dining room with a lot of space was built. but they do not get the wonderful inner of the upper level, even if it is the same. So, how are you? Price/performance here is extremely good, especially if it is in the middle of the (very expensive) opera madeleine district. it is not super f...
