"So decided to give this place another try.I was there with my teenage grandaughter. She used to love the quiche, but was 2 bits left( approx 1-30 Saturday afternoon The, what would have been lovely steak pie, was totally dried up.While I waited to be served ,saw a Bacon/egg sandwich being made up(should have walked out there and then! 2 bits of sizzling overdone bits of bacon were being put into a bread bun ,which was upside down anyway, one of the slices fell out onto the top of the hot serving dishes, and picked up by hand(no tongs or gloves and plonked onto said bread bun, then an overcooked egg (at least on the bottom was passed through the serving hatch to be added! approx 4-5 butter packets were added to the plate and then taken to a table.I decided to get 2 sausage rolls and a portion of chips between us,and tea for two.just over £10. no cutlery apart from 2 knives and 1 fork. no teaspoons for our tea.Not one table had been cleared so had to move a dirty tray of stuff to another dirty table, before we could eat.Sausage roll ok, chips usual rubbish .Tea was good! although had to stir sugar in with a dessert spoon! would definitely not recommend this place. disgusting."

young is what I would describe as 'old school' and this is a compliment! a department store that really has almost everything and fair trips. the staff is friendly and helpful, its real facility at bridlington.

I go here regularly for their famous steak pie. Never had a bad meal there. Steak pie, chips and peas with gravy has always been very, very tasty and nice. Totally lean steak (no gristle or fat) and delicious gravy. Great meal and good value. I can recommend the tea as well. Nice cuppa and you get 3 cups of tea out of the pot for £1.90. The restaurant has great views over the bay on one side, and a much larger seating area with nice views over the town. There's also a really interesting museum within the restaurant, that shows the history of Boyes department store.

"Visited today with my wife and month old daughter whilst we are on holiday in the area. We didn’t have a booking but this wasn’t a problem, the staff were friendly throughout and accommodating about lack of booking. We asked for a children’s menu...(website says they have one) but we were advised it’s was the basket meals menu which they advertise as selling to guests sat outside, they did also mention they could make a smaller portion of something from the adult menu. The basket meals menu is mainly fried food and chips, the kind you might share with friends over drinks, I wouldn’t call it a children’s menu. To me a children’s meal should at least come with some option of veg/salad/beans and ideally not be fried, plus the chips that arrived with her chicken bites were salted, not great for little ones. We didn’t make a fuss as for one meal as a treat we weren’t unduly worried but it would put me off going back with children. They also charged the full basket meal price so no reduction for children. Our meals, fried garlic mushrooms, salt and pepper chicken goujons to start then a beef burger and chicken burger as mains, arrived promptly and were generous portions. The food was fine, nothing spectacular just average pub food. The main issue on our visit and the thing that made the whole meal much more stressful and unenjoyable was the flies, we were sat in what they called the restaurant area and our whole meal start to finish was disrupted by or flies continuously buzzing round us, trying to land on our food and land on us, not fun. I accept that or flies can be around when doors or windows are open and it’s hard to stop them coming when food is around but or round us and more to be seen in the room seems too many to me, it really put us off especially when they were landing on our daughter. At the point of eating the meal we didn’t raise the issue as we couldn’t see that anything could be done about it and I’m sure the staff are not a fan of the flies either. I did raise the issue whilst paying and was told they knew about the problem and were doing their best to solve it, sadly for us it would stop me wanting to go again. All in all not a great experience and the food whilst nice enough wasn’t good enough to overcome the issue of the flies and the lack of a proper children’s menu."
