"A warm welcome from a young Polish man, who we took to be the Manager (if he isn't, he should be...! . Boisdale of Bishopsgate is tucked away down an alleyway. The bar, on ground floor level, I found to be a little claustrophobic and quite small (not sure how I would get on in the restaurant, which is underground . We were on a very cheaply priced set lunch menu, which included a glass of prosecco and coffee. Everything was OK, not exceptional, but OK, except for my husband's fish... well, the actual fish itself was perfectly acceptable, but the batter was something else! It was soft, damp and rubbery and my husband picked it up with two fingers from the top and the fish just fell through the bottom of the batter. Yuck! The Manager sympathised and treated my husband to another glass of prosecco (thank you but, to be honest, we would not return."

First time at Boisdales but would highly recommend. Hidden down side alley next to Dirty Dicks, great basement intimate atmosphere. Good excellent. Blues set by Errol Linton superb.

Thoroughly enjoyed our night out to Boisdale of Bishopgate, the staff were excellent and what a treat to have an outstanding jazz pianist and superb singer as part of the evening. The food was delicious and we hope to return again! View menu

I was invited to this restaurant by a few business associates and had a wonderful lunch. Being Scottish, I couldn't resist trying the Haggis, which was delicious. My companions opted for a steak and a veggie burger, and they were both pleased with their choices. I found the prices to be reasonable for London standards. I heard that the atmosphere in the evening is quite lively.

Having enjoyed the other Boisdale restaurants we were delighted with the intimate atmosphere of this newly reopened venue. Excellent music from a young jazz singer and the usual high standards of steak and haggis to eat. The only downside was the slightly yobbish group of city boys smoking in the narrow alley entrance but the music and food is downstairs away from them. Even with a dinner and music offer, drinks and desserts plus service will leave you little change from £100 a head but it is worth it.
