"Bath, England, February 2025. During our stay at the charming hotel Indigo, we decided to try out the small restaurant 'Brasserie Beau,' which had impressive reviews on Google. We specifically chose Sunday to taste their renowned Sunday roast. The experience was quite intriguing. The service and ambiance were outstanding—a solid 5. As for the food, it was interesting overall, with the exception of the French onion soup, which was excellent. The burrata appetizer featured roasted pumpkin, drizzles of balsamic vinegar, and a generous sprinkle of sunflower seeds, accompanied by a small ball of incredibly fresh and creamy burrata. This combination was unique, offering a nice twist, but ultimately it's a matter of personal preference. Not being a big fan of pumpkin, I found myself preferring the classic burrata with tomatoes. However, if you enjoy pumpkin, you'll likely love this rendition. For the main course, we sampled both the beef roast and the chicken roast, and the portions were substantial. Both dishes boasted flavorful meat, accompanied by a grilled piece of juicy turnip, non-greasy gravy, and large, crispy roasted potato chunks—a solid 4. However, the side dishes weren't as impressive; the boiled cauliflower topped with bland melted cheese lacked seasoning, resulting in an underwhelming flavor. The other side, mashed cooked carrots, was acceptable thanks to a hint of spice—possibly ginger—but it really depends on your fondness for cooked carrots. Overall, trying a traditional English Sunday lunch at Brasserie Beau was an interesting experience. I highly recommend this place if you're looking to indulge in such a meal. It’s worth a visit at least once to see what it’s all about. Complimentary sparkling or still water is offered for the table, and there’s a good selection of intriguing cocktails if that’s your preference.
