"amazing. we wish we had a place like this back to home in the usa (hint: open one in orlando, fl.) the filled mushrooms, a vegetarian option, were amazing! the mushrooms were tender, the filling was an excellent compliment, and the cheese was only the correct amount and taste. the lamb cake was also unbelievable, just the right broth. had the roly poly for dessert, which led me to a new fruit, called the physalis, which were both excellent. the dessert was covered with custard in the U.S. custard, is usually frozen or picked, which was a liquid like crème anglaise. I hope I'll do it again!"

my man and I went for our one and only date at night, the bark wellington was really good, but the sweet and the carrots were not cooked, really pampered it for me, I will not hurry back.

A bit boring. I tried this place on the reccomendation of a friend. I eat out a lot and had never been in as it doesn't look inspiring from outside. I didn't like it. It was a bit bland, samey and boring. On the plus side, the staff were attentive.

a small and intimate restaurant specialising in homemade cakes and homemade cuisine. loved that huh, laugh and mushroom cake. great consistency and divine Flösch bakery above. Woman has wolfed her steak and nierenpis and our friend has enjoyed her little ritual. friendly and efficient service in a place that is steep in the old world history.

Delicious!. Warm atmosphere, attentive staff, and especially worth a lunch time visit for the same great service and delicious food at a bargain price! I have frequented Brown's on many an occasion and have never been disappointed, good honest food with the attention focused solely on this, no unnecessary show off gimmicks, and special compliments to the accompanying veg, always cooked to perfection with that bite and crunch so many other eateries just miss. I cannot praise this place enough. A must visit for all.

It's ok, but over-rated. A bit 70s'. This place has a great rep in Lincoln and visitors are often recommend to it but in my opinion its OK but nothing special. Average home cooked pies in a rather 70s-80s' restaurant. It needs either modernising or if it wants to keep the classic old fashioned look it should go to retro country kitchen. What it has at the moment is a blast from the past from about 20-30 years ago. The menu looks reasonable but the whole experience is lacking. Perhaps ok for a passing meal but not for anything special.

"From the outside, it looks like another tacky eatery in a street lined with tacky takeaways. Walk through the door and pleasantly surprised. A little deli counter, a back room then a garden. The garden overlooks a derelict abandoned overgrown garden. Not a problem, I am used to this in Athens. What is the problem, and I don’t see in Athens, tenants throwing rubbish out of their windows into the garden. It is ideal breeding ground for rats. The local environmental health should investigate, and if needed carry out enforcement action. To sit outside or not? Maybe too cool when the sun went in, and too hot if it came out as no shade. I decided to sit inside, near the back door. A red rose on the table is a neat touch. I was the only diner. Oh but we were busier earlier. Strange how I am always told, if you’d have been here when you weren’t here, we were busy. The menu was singurly uninspiring. Why panini’s? Everywhere does paninis. I have never understood why. Or pasta. The choice penne (which I don’t like), or spaghetti (which I dislike slightly less) I chose spaghetti Bolognese. It arrived seemingly quick. I was asked when I placed my order, did I wish for Parmesan cheese? It was added in the kitchen. Usually brought to and added at the table. Spaghetti Bolognese is not an Italian dish. It was an artificial dish with elements of North and South. The spaghetti mediocre at best, the Bolognese sauce excellent. I was going to leave but decided to stay. I chose tiriamasiu for dessert. Coffee, Illy, no thanks. For coffee walk to Madame Waffle or Coffee Aroma. I visited a couple of weeks ago, the previous week I found closed."
