"This review has taken longer than expected because I have been in two minds about leaving one. But considering how bad the situation could have been for somebody else, I concluded that I should write one. Unfortunately, a few weeks ago, having ordered a chicken sandwich with soup combination, I was served chicken which was 'allergen contaminated ' with prawns, which I have an allergy to. The contamination included whole prawns. The manager came out to see me and dealt with the situation politely and offered a refund, cookie for my son, and a new bowl of soup for me. She said that the chef did not know how the contamination had occurred. I understand that mistakes happen, which I why I didn 't make a great fuss (mainly because the reaction I had was relatively mild itchy throat, slight cough, and increased body temperature), and I thought it best not to leave a review. But having heard another story in the media, recently, about how a restaurant 's negligence had led to a serious reaction for a customer, I changed my mind. Of course, this could be a one off incident, but please be aware that something like this can happen and it can happen anywhere I will certainly be more cautious with everything I eat from now on and not assume that what I order is what I will get. Ordinarily, I would never expect to find prawns in a chicken sandwich. I would have given this eatery another chance, but I didn 't receive a refund for my meal (obviously I didn 't finish the sandwich I ordered); the manager never came back to process that or check on me in the last 20 minutes (whilst I was waiting to be sure I was okay). Consequently, I will not be eating there again which is a shame, as they are our neighbours."

Visited taking a disabled person for a morning out. Ordered a breakfast which looked OK, but turned toast over and it was some what burnt.

A friend and I met for lunch, as we are unable to visit in our own homes at present. The shop itself was in some disarray and it looked as if they were starting the Christmas displays. That said, we queued for a few minutes...

We visited today for lunch for a catch up and to make the most of the eat out to help out scheme. We ordered a sharing platter which would normally be £18.95 and is recommended for 2 people. We were disappointed. It was nice and...

I visited with my husband and our dog. We read the signs saying 'dogs not allowed '. Before we could take the dog back to the car a member of staff rushed towards us shouting that dogs were not allowed. We visited the restaurant and I... View menu

I visited the restaurant with my friend almost 2 weeks ago. Our details were taken upon arrival and we were lead to a table. Whilst the staff serving us had visers on, and ensured the tables were clean, we noticed that the chef in the...

Having given our 8 year old grandson his first tennis experience, we called in with my sister and her husband for lunch. There was a decent choice. We had a table outside in the sun. Service was very good and the food was delicious. It...

I used to love it here. Was always my first choice. I hadn't been for a while and it will be some time before I go again! Very pricey for what you get. Very disappointing tea cakes. Small, very flat and slightly over toasted. Three of us got our tea cakes, drinks were slow to follow and the piece of cake took even longer. The young lady who brought it was very pleasant. That can't be said for other staff. Rude, unsmiling. Cleared table before we had finished. It was expensive for what we had. I went to use ladies toilets what a mess in there. Others remarked likewise. Very, very poor standards today. Will stick to one of other GC nearby.

My sister and our hubbies took our 94 yr old mother to Pacific cafe for a little treat and trip out from the nursing home she is in. We all ordered meals from the menu but due to mums poor health can only eat tiny portions.so ordered her children's fish finger and chips. The lady taking the order stated that a drink of squash was included so we chose blackcurrant for her. We also purchased her a hot chocolate which we poured into her feeding beaker . We all had drinks too. Total amount was over £72. Which was fine . However they did not bring mum her squash as was supposed to be included with price of child's menu. I questioned this and was told by the waitress that as mum was not a child sh...

"This was our first visit. I have to remind myself that this is a training environment for students but there should be someone in charge, who is identifiable to direct the students on how to present a menu and how to place a dish in front of customers. However, four courses for £35, amuse bouche counted for one course. Amouse bouche lacked any seasoning, orzo starter, well cooked but again lacked seasoning. My wife had fish, Coley, which was nice. I had chicken breast on a bed of curry sauce with hassleback potatoes. My whole dish was luke warm at best, the curry sauce was overpowering, and the hassleback potatoes were not crispy. The chicken was lovely and moist and I ordered a side of triple cooked chips which were super hot, expensive at £4, I only wish the rest of my dish was that hot. I had cheese and biscuits which consisted of Brie, blue cheese and cheddar together with chutney. My wife had Pain Perdue which was well presented and tasty. The restaurant is more like a cafe, not cosy, so don't choose it if you want a romantic evening. Overall would I go again? probably not. If you are ever near the Lake district try to book a table in the restaurant at Kendal College. On a final note; there is parking on an evening next to the college. Drive up to the barrier and press the call button, security will let you in. The barrier opens automatically on exit."
