"My wife and I, accompanied by four friends, decided to take time out from our stay at nearby Sancerre and motor to this establishment for dinner. One of our number had eaten here on a previous occasion and he recalled the delicious fare and copious quantities. The choice for starters included Fois Gras, smoked wild salmon and home made terrine. We consumed a superb bottle of Dame de Chatendy, then one of the local reds (Meneton-Salon). This was followed by a wonderful filet mignon du porc in a rich sauce, the alternatives being roasted Pintade (guinea fowl) with mixed vegetables. There was also a fish dish option. Most of our number went for the gateau de pommes (du maison) with crème anglaise for desert - and this was served with several bowls of fresh fruit (orange segments, pineapple chunks, apple wedges, banana discs and more! Lastly came the assorted cheeseboard and the inevitable "petit café".After all this we felt totally replete and staggered out to the car park and drove back to our accommodation. The unanimous opinion was "merveilleux!""

Quite wonderful simple and exquisite french food. The service was also great. I suggest you reserve. Try it.

French cooking like you only read about in books. Certainly one of the best meals I've ever had in France. A Family run Restaurant still using grandmother's recipes. A must go to when you are in the Loire Valley!

Yes, they still exist. The restaurants our grand-parents took us to. C'heu Le Zib is one of them. Country cooking at its best, from start to finish: A delightful marbled fois gras, a coq-au-vin (out of this world!), a cheese-board with at least 30 choices and several desserts (of which you take as much as you like): Country cooking doesn't get better than here! Our third visit over the years and always consistent in their quality. View menu

Spent a wonderful evening at C'heu L'Zib enjoying a hearty and plentiful meal of delicious French country cooking in a warm, family-style atmosphere. Great value, too; I spent less here for more and better food than I have in several other restaurants in the area. We ordered the 'formule' that included a starter, one entrée, cheese plate, and dessert for about €20 apiece, and it was plenty. Could have ordered the full meal deal including a fish and a meat dish, which I would recommend only for those with a large appetite and a lot of time.

On a wine tour of Menetou Salon we knew we had to eat here-we weren't dissappointed! This old auberge, situated in the upper part of the town, looked very welcoming and it was. Simple, local food was served with a smile. The short menu, that changes regularly, was good value and very fresh. The pike in a sauce 'style'-beurre blanc was very good so give it a try. Unusually for a French restaurant the main courses are served with loads of fresh vegetables. The portions are huge so make sure you are hungry. A lovely meal in a lovely setting-what more can you ask for?

Lovely building, friendly staff. We mentioned gluten free when we made the reservation but they were a tad confused when we arrived. However, one staff member was able to help us. The food is brought to the table on serving dishes, so you can easily share. The food is simply hearty French fare. Excellent and the lunch menu is many courses for about 40 euros. This is a great, affordable place for a traditional French meal. I can't give 5 stars though because of the moment of panic when they thought sans gluten meant I needed help translating the French rather than having a disease! View menu

A lovely spot with traditional French food. There is no menu. Madame tells you what is available and you select from the 4 or 5 course version. Starters for us included terrine, foie gras, smoked salmon. Fish was pike in a beurre blanc sauce which was incredible. The meat course was huge but disappointing. My veal in tomato sauce was fine but unexciting, my colleagues chicken thighs were tasty but unexciting, while the guinea fowl in whisky did not go down well. The cheese options are incredible and delicious, while the pudding, entering round a supreme chocolate charlotte with various fruits etc was first class. Highly recommended but I'd skip the meat course.

Plenty of good food on the menu is cooked by the 2nd and 3rd generation and served by the 4th generation of Albert's family, aka L'Zib. The pike à la crème is the house' specialty together with the Charlotte (chocolate cake with vanilla cream). If you don't want fish, meat is the only alternative. The Ambiance is very convivial, several guest parties sitting at the same table. If you are not very hungry, make sure to tell the waitress that you want to eat à la carte because they take it as granted that you come for the menu. And make sure to consult the options and prices before you enter the restaurant for they don't hand out menus.Overall, a good eating experience with a friendly service.
