"Clarification: This review and this page talk about the Gandhi Restaurant on Rue Cail near Gare Du Nord, Paris, and NOT of Chez Gandhi at Rue Dauphine. Review: I have been frequenting this Gandhi restaurant on Rue Cail a lot since the last 3 years or so. The previous owner was a wonderful and friendly man, who always was taking good care of the food and service quality of the restaurant. The food was just 'decent ', (north indian being better than south indian food) HOWEVER, I went back again with some friends tonight, and l am hugely disappointed to let you know that THIS RESTAURANT HAS BEEN ONE OF MY WORST DINNER EXPERIENCES! We were six people, ordered a first round of dosas, followed by a second round of chicken biryanis. 1. Dosas: How long does it take to make a masala dosa? not that long when the batter is ready! The first dosa came after 30 minutes, followed by the remaining 5 dosas with a gap of 10minutes each between every dosa! POOR POOR POOR Service! No chutneys came Horrible Sambar! 2. Biryanis: Definitely reduced quantity from previous portions of biryani, quality similar 3. Idlis: We had to get some idlis packed for friends back in the apartment. Believe me, when we got home and opened the idlis bag, THE IDLIS WERE STALE, WEEK OLD, BLACK IN COLOR! 4. Service and staff: Very very poor. Slow servers. Uncouth owners. NEVER Going back again! And would suggest the same to you."

This was an excellent dining experience Perfectly spiced tandori, daal and vindaloo. My wife enjoyed this Indian cuisine very much and the King Fisher beer was a real treat.

Very nice restaurant, well furnished and tables with real table cloths. Average to good Indian food, not very far from the major stores in Boulevard Haussman. Enjoyable dinner

I like Indian food, I don't deprive myself of betting, this restaurant serves what is best in the country of ghandi, a little high price but it's bet. my favorite dish with chicken with chips and their delicious savings.

Yes this restaurant looks pretty ordinary but we found it clean and the food was authentic with little salt or oil and extremely good value. Their biryani was very good and the place was busy with many French-Indians eating or ordering take outs.

I never been to this restaurant but I have multiple charges totaling 384 dollars on my HSA Visa Apparently the restaurant accepted my Health Savings Account card number? Really? Taking a HSA card in a restaurant? The charges showed up in Feb 2012

Being vegetarian, My husband and I are always looking for places where we can eat out and we have tried some Indian restaurants in Paris. We went to Chez Gandhi with another vegetarian friend I must say we loved everything we ordered: the lentils, the curry spinach, the curry chickpea, the vegetarian biyarany rice and the bread. It was delicious and we were happy to have many options to choose from. It´s true that the service is not the best, because they don't come very often to see if you need something else, but I would go again because the food is great!

We chose to eat here instead of yugraj. The interiors were warm and nice. We are vegetarians and teetotallers. We had a very satisfying and tasty meal here. We ordered for the main course (parathas, mushroom curry, daal tadka). Just 23 euros. The owner was very courteous and we spoke in hindi. He spoke of his entire story. Was courteous to ask us for onion salad, pickles and papad. We had requested him to make food spicy and my wife loved the food. The plain parathas were very large in size. 3 large parathas were good enough for both of us. Papad was complimentary. I would definitely love to eat here again on my next visit.

This little restaurant tucked away behind the door was a carved wooden delight. The restaurant was decorated wonderfully and food fantastic and abundant as well as very well priced. After eating at the usual haunts around this area we opted for something different as was not too phased on the local food. We are so glad to have found this place as it was one of the better meals we had during our 3 weeks away. We ordered the rogan josh lamb, chicken tikka, a fish dish which eludes me saffron rice, dahl, naan breads as well as a soup. We walked away not feeling stuffed or bloated. Kitchen looked clean and tidy. Restaurant was not so squeezed in others and was also not as busy. If you are feelin...

We went to Chez Gandhi on the final day of our Paris visit Jan 4/12 . The restaurant is located on Rue Dauphine a few blocks south of Pont Neuf. The interior is dark burgundy with the usual Indian deity accoutrements. For starters we shared the lamb kebabs moist and tasty and chicken tikka bland . Our mains were the chicken vindaloo and the aloo saag spinach w/ potato , with naan, raita and a side dish of onions. Both dishes were very good; the vindaloo, spicy as customary, the spinach with perfect seasoning however without much of the aloo portion. The naan was moist and buttery but rather on the small side. The service was adequate but lacking in any sense of customer need. Our server neve...
