"Following a delightful tour of the Glenfiddich Distillery near Dufftown, we decided to stay at the Commercial Hotel, one of the few lodging options in the area and conveniently located near the whiskey trail. The rooms are basic, comfortable, warm, and peaceful. There is ample street parking available, and guests can choose between rooms with or without en-suite bathrooms, although there are shared bathrooms available in the hallway. Just across the street from the hotel is a fantastic Indian restaurant with friendly service and reasonable prices. The hotel also features a cozy pub on the ground floor that is popular with both tourists and locals, offering a selection of beers and whiskeys and staffed by incredibly welcoming and helpful locals. The breakfasts are excellent, with options including a traditional Scottish breakfast complete with haggis and black pudding. If you are seeking a down-to-earth, modest, budget-friendly, and genuine accommodation in a picturesque village, the Commercial Hotel will not disappoint."

We dined at a charming little restaurant with impeccable service and delicious food. I enjoyed a bowl of tomato soup while my husband opted for the taco haggis.

Good choices on the menu with something for everyone. Would recommend the steak and ale pie with the chunky chips. Everything cooked fresh to order and piping hot. Reasonable priced View menu

The hotel and restaurant sits right by the main Dufftown intersection. Simple Scottish fare on offer, ok without being exceptional, nice scotch selection, not expensive at all. The dining room can accommodate around 18 people in total.

We visited for an aninersary meal with our 7 year old son unlike other places he was genuinely made to feel welcome and wanted there. Beautiful roast beef and son loved his sausage and mash. Price was very good too. Only one minor gripe and that is there was not much choice of pudding, that only minor issue , apart from that highly recommend View menu

The restaurant, now called the Whisky Capital Inn, was the setting for a group of 9 diners from the United States and Scotland. We enjoyed a delicious meal that was freshly prepared and well-priced, along with a great selection of wines. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and we were impressed by the vast array of whiskies available. We would definitely return for another visit.

"Genuinely couldn't fault the experience. When I heard that the Drouthy had a new menu focusing more on a veggie and vegan base, I knew I had to give it a whirl. The starter of hot Smoked salmon with lemon creme fraiche and oatcakes was simple yet packed full of flavour. I could have easily have had 10 plates of that and been happy to give it 5 stars. My partner had the smoked duck and even though I have given up meat, I was salivating at the look of their dish. They assure me that it was as delicious as it looked. Served with lavender roasted potatoes (which I'm told were amazing and charred salsify. The mains were more than a match for the brilliant starters. If I could give one piece of advice, it would be get the beetroot risotto. Not being a massive fan of beetroot, I wasn't too sure about it. But the incredibly warm waiter (for my son's, I never got his name. I only hope he can forgive me if he reads this! assured me it was tasty. He was not wrong. Beautifully cooked vegan risotto with balsamic beetroot chunks, shiitake mushrooms and rocket, it was simply divine. WHEN I go back, I'll be hard pressed to go for anything else because it was so delicious. It was creamy, packed full of flavour and cooked absolutely perfectly. Just the right amount of bite, nowhere near being mush like you get in a lot of other places (who charge a lot more, by the way . Superb. The highest of compliments to the chef. I was so taken by my dish I forgot to ask how my partner's was until I had eaten all of mine. But their home made vegan tagliatelle had disappeared from the plate so it must have been amazing. I couldn't handle dessert so had a delicious ruby port (delaforce I think it was called , and I would also like to give credit to whoever came up with their wine list. It covered every single base and no-one could ever be disappointed. Finally, if you're ever in Elgin, please make sure this is one of your destinations. You will leave extremely happy."
