"Having been to the Concept Cafe once before and visited the sister cafe at The Hollies Little Budworth several times I was expecting great service and excellent quality food. Unfortunately today’s visit was most disappointing. Although we were served very quickly, that’s exactly where the service ended. No one checked if the food was fine (it wasn’t), no one asked if we wanted more drinks or food or the bill ...... in fact no one even made eye contact or spoke when clearing the table. We waited, waited and waited for someone to come back and actually speak to us to offer us more but no ........ so I went to the checkout, paid the high prices and left. Even then no one spoke or asked if everything was ok. The sausage sandwich was the greasiest I have ever had the bottom slice of ciabatta was completely soggy with butter/oil dripping off and far too much onion marmalade I had to scrape loads off which still left a lot on the bread which was too soggy to eat. I won’t be going back as the staff don’t even have the basic courtesy of speaking to customers and the food was disappointing."

I really liked this place but I just don’t think it’s worth the prices it charges. Lovely food, not so lovely prices.

Berries with a scone turned out to be 2 blueberries and 5 Redcurrants. Pitiful. How much do berries cost ! Scone was nice.

To expensive for a glorified cafe , there are a lot better options available in the area and considerably better value for money

Had an Americano and a slice of coffee and walnut cake. Cake was dry, no walnuts in the cake or in the filling. One half of a walnut on the top. The filling was over sweet. Disappointing and expensive.

We couldn't fault our lunch here. Food was top quality and was served quickly. Staff were good friendly, efficient and helpful. Yes prices are on the higher end for this sort of cafe. But in my opinion worth it for a treat given the standard here.

Very good value for money, very quickly served, tasty and plentiful. I had chicken and bacon Ciabatta with chilli sauce. All are on the more expensive side but I felt it was well worth the expense. My five friends had a similar lunch menu and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. View menu

Had a smoked salmon and avocado sandwich. Came on a seeded roll but the top half of the bun was hot! Strange. The sandwich was OK, but only OK. The salad leaves that came with it were not very nice as they were tough somehow. Expensive lunch that could have been much better. Service not over good. No one asked if we would like anything else or another drink, no one asked if the meal was OK. No one asked if we wanted the bill. Used to be much better than this.

OK so it's not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. My husband and I stopped for lunch and both had the sausage and marmalade jam sandwiches one toasted they were superb and came with the most delicious coleslaw and salad on the side. The service was great, friendly and efficient. We had to return to the cafe 2 hours later as my husband realised he had left his mobile on the table, staff were so helpful and showed us 2 old codgers !! how to set up the emergency service should it happen again hopefully not .

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."

"Open since 1970 and located on Mardol, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest streets @thecurryhouseshrewsbury serves locally sourced ingredients married with traditional spices and chillies from the Indian subcontinent, a match made in heaven. 5 5 Recommended Price No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try. The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor. Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours. Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly. The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Thank you for our invite to share the exciting menu created with passion and creativity.
