"We join the visits of the “dolce vita”! The Italian cuisine we appreciate is not the first place. Many members of the community are still well known. Our contact keeps constant since our knowledge 2015. And now the Saarschmecker lured with another visit to Mario. We didn't ask for long! Mario is a class for himself. He lives pizza! Participate in international competitions, try and reinvent constantly. The new “inventions” are often recommended by day. We've been here a few times. Actually, I'd like to try the pasta, but it's getting pizza again and again. He reports interesting here:[here link] During the lockdown, he offered his already established pickup service. In the meantime the message came, he wanted to leave the restaurant business resting and only operate the pick-up offer. Last Saturday, Mr Saarschmecker was now offered a table in the outdoor area. The restaurant is closed for the first time, whether with or without a test. The weather played perfectly with and so in the early evening we moved our reserved table in a simple and quiet outdoor area. Mario's wife is responsible for the service, warmly welcomed us and accepted our wishes. It seemed to me that she was really happy to be able to host guests at the table again. My husband and I ordered: Alcohol-free Pils, 0.33 l € 2.00 Mineral water, 0.75 l proud € 6.90 Pizza Specials – € 12.90 Pizza Frutti die Mare € 13.90 We always give up an appetizer here. We know how big the pizza is. The drinks were served quickly and well cooled. We do not have wine here. This is unfortunately completely overpriced for quality. While waiting for the pizzas, numerous customers came to pick up ordered food. Over 30 pizzas went over the farm during our visit. The ordered dough flakes also reached us steaming! For my husband: Pizza Specials For me with seafood: Pizza frutti die mare A special eyewitness was Saarschmecker's choice, a pizza of the day recommendation. Every piece with another covering. And I can only say it again and again: I have found a pizza in comparable quality for the first time, many 100 km away. The dough is a dream. The coating is fresh and well seasoned. We were all 4 all around satisfied and a little bit later all around sat. Mario even later found a little time for a chat with us at the table. This is where we always like to come here! And fortunately, Mario has been well over the difficult time of last year. Now he's just gonna have to get the construction site over his restaurant. But Mario is looking forward to the new neighbors: It creates a large senior center and hopes for many guests who want to eat something right;"

You got to be a local to sniff out hot new places... the more so, if the owner does 'nt need or want to advertise. This is the case with MARIO, the definite TOP Pizzeria in our Pfälzer Bergland. I had a taste of 3 pizzas, a pasta and two salads... all stunningly tasty with no bells&wistles necessary. My advice? The chef pizza with garlic drenched prawns.... my girlfiend hates me ;
