"The crab was lovely however the lobster special was sadly anything but, grey, smelly and far too fishy! So very disappointed and sorry to be writing this review, I had such high hopes and have raved about this place before, so much so I was excited to get a table. It was just a last minute booking to take my daughter and her fiance out whilst they were visiting for the weekend, I've previously given a 5 star rating and been here a few times with friends and never had a bad experience. I've had the lobster before here too, so I had every confidence it would be lovely, sadly, it was not! Our server was lovely and he did ask if we enjoying the food early doors, my daughter was eating hers (she ordered the same) and I asked her how was hers and she seemed to be enjoying it! So I politely nodded and tried again, no it wasn't to be. I thought maybe I had a bad bit, so I tried once more and ended up spitting it discreetly into a napkin. I 100% appreciate I should have said something then and there, but it is such a small intimate restaurant and I just didn't want the fuss or to spoil the evening for everyone else! I didn't leave a tip, well just the minimal change as I was so disappointed. The whole experience for me was ruined. We all enjoyed the spiced crab starter and the red wine x2 and maybe if the lobster had been spiced I wouldn't have noticed and I tried to eat the pasta and prawns instead avoiding the lobster but eventually I gave up. We left without having a dessert as my daughter noticed I had pushed the lobster off to the side and was asking me what was wrong, I told her I had probably eaten too much crab and the lobster just didn't taste as nice. Her face said it all, oh my God, she said and then asked, do you think it was off looking at her empty plate and pulling a face ! Bless her, she can be very dramatic and I just wanted us all to go out for a nice evening, so I said No love, I'm sure it was fine. I'm just not feeling it tonight. The monkfish my son in law (to be) had was lovely and my other daughter who went for a veggie pasta option took hers home for later. The waiter as always is very professional, pleasant and kind but not even his charm could save the day. I knew it was not right and I suspect the persons or persons who cooked/served it knew too so why cause a scene. It may get me little respect, but I've joined the growing so called keyboard warrior crew by complaining online and in my own time. We went home and I made our own Affogato and a new version for my daughter with pistachio liqueur very nice they were too!"

"A rather long wait one is forewarned on the menu , but eventually, very good food arrived. The owner ? not very engaging. Living in Bali I thought he might have something to say about Thailand, but he did not seem keen to engage in a conversation, however short. Oh well, end of season exhaustion?..but the son ? more concerned and apologised for the long wait.... the Thai ? lady in the kitchen gave me a big, genuine, smile when I stuck my head round the kitchen door on the way out and thanked her for the spicy food, just-as-we-like-it, and she reminded me of service back home in Bali . "A few months since we have been here, but only due to travel distance! It’s not enough to say this place is good! It’s excellent! The staff, the customer service and the standards are high! The open plan kitchen allows you to see the high standards of the kitchen team. Yes they have a menu, and yes not everything is available on it, and whilst I get this may be disappointing they’re ethos seems to be fresh food. Would you want it, if it was frozen? The fish is fresh, that day and sometimes they run out of things. What you are guaranteed is a high level of service and food at more than reasonable prices. Once again credit to Izzy, front of house team, and the kitchen team!"

"My first visit to 'The Old Sail Loft ' and it definitely will not be my last. The food was absolutely stunning!!!! I mean STUNNING!!!!! Some of the best I 've had. The staff were lovely. I 've recently suffered with some very poor health and have mobility problems, so they relocated our table for us so I didn 't have to climb the stairs. They were thoughtful and courteous. The service was great! It was so amazing I 'll be returning with my husband as I want him to try your amazing food. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening x"

"Nice pub in a good position. We were there with friends for the day. The first time we asked for food it was outside the serving times. The second time we asked we were told there would be an hour's wait so we went elsewhere, hence only one star. Bar service was good, atmosphere wasn't bad. Pity about the landlady, she was very free with her affection, not at all professional. Wheelchair accessibility: No access, steps down from the street and no ramp.
