"I have eaten here several times in the course of the years, with a friend and in groups. in 2016 we went here with a larger Veggie group and were overwhelmed by their six vegan options, all written on a separate board. we were all satisfied with our eating. this year we went back there, this time with a smaller veggie group. much to every unmut the vegan was already sold out. my camouflage flambée was not prepared with much love exactly, burned on several sides, not with a lot of tomato sauce, and with the sweet randomly distributed, i.e. some larger parts were empty, while some parts were filled with veggies and rather mushy kartoffel dumps. the waitress was not too happy about our asking, could not really answer all, nor did she follow frequent label as wait until all her meals have ended before they clear the table, or apologized, no longer the weekly vegan special. the vegetarian dishes are marked but can easily be confused with the gluten-free symbol, because both are in small print with the same color. on a positive note, we were served quite fast, my tarte flambée tasted ok, I could sit free of charge water (not so often in German restaurants and we spent a relaxing summer evening outside, with a view of the main shopping street."

Had a really lovely lunch here this week. Food was so tasty and fresh and satisfying and service was good too. Food came out quick in spite of it being busy. Would definitely return. It’s a good restaurant to try some local dishes too but...they have a nice big menu with lots of choices

I've been twice now. I like that, it seems a lot of good Saarland decisions. the mixed menu is useful if I am friends with non- vegan. they always seem to have a vegan special on the menu of the day. some dishes can be adjusted. how many good restaurants in saarland they are professional and attentive. I want to give more stars. I would see more variety of permanent vegan choices.

"I'm not keen on negative reviews, as everyone is entitled to an off night, bit the experience was pretty shoddy. Was a busy Saturday night in Saarbrucken, World Cup quarter finals playing everywhere... and we were a party of 7 that hadn't booked anywhere on...an overnight stop over. We checked with the restaurant if they could take us, they said yes and led us to the table. Staff were pleasant and helpful. This was about 8pm. We ordered drinks, food, one of which was a mixed platter of cold meats as an entrée. The mixed platter arrived an hour later. An hour. For sliced cold meat. The waitress was apologetic and as we were in no rush (at that point), we just ordered more drinks. The platter was pretty average, but then we'd just come from Italy where Antipasti, Salami and Cheese is infinitely better. By 10pm there was no sign of the mains. We asked when the dinner might come and the waitress said she would check. When she came back, the response was that they couldn't tell when they would be ready, but not soon... and that was it. This is 10pm. Two hours after coming in and being told they could accommodate us. The outside tables of the restaurant were busy, the large inside pretty empty. We chose to pay (a lot, because it's pretty expensive) for what we'd consumed, and left. Shame the staff in the restaurant kitchen didn't care as much about their customers as the waitress did, but even so... a shoddy service, elevated prices that simply benefits from its location in central Saarbrucken. There are better alternatives all around the centre, some of them much better value too. I'm sure they have better days... But if you want to get a reliable, quality service at a good price... Maybe don't choose a Saturday night at Gaathaus Zahm."
