"What a find, the hospitality was excellent, we decided to follow the signs off the main road to have something to eat before we headed to Chatsworth to watch the firework display. We made the right choice, we were welcomed with a smile by the staff, the atmosphere within the pub was relaxed and the smell of the roaring fire added to the experience. We were looking to eat and the kitchen wasn’t open for another 1/2hr, we agreed to wait and placed our order, I had Scampi and my husband had Gammon. We waited not expecting our meal till after the kitchen had opened, however the staff knew we were on a tight timeline and we had our meal early. The meal was hot, fresh and tasty and we really enjoyed it.We are so glad we took the turning and will definitely be back again in the future. Nice historic old pub ,well kept real ales ,off the beaten path plenty of walks in the area Didnt eat there but the food looked good

Fantastic Sunday dinner, friendly staff, great location for visiting the Nine Ladies. Easily one of the best Sunday dinners I’ve had . The red cabbage was wonderful

It was a wet and wild day, we were welcomed with warmth and genuine care, wet dogs and muddy as we were. The fire was stoked, the food was excellent and there were even games to play. We had a smashing time View menu

Good food, good service, prices reasonable and most importantly for Derbyshire the staff are actually friendly. Situated next to Rowtor rocks, worth the short climb for the views. Not too posh so thankfully they don't seem to mind muddy boots.

We went in for a drink at the end of a long walk. We got there just before the heavens opened and it was relaxing to watch the rain in warm surroundings. A roaring fire was most welcome. Good range of beers and the Yorkshire crisps were well received
