"Walking from our hotel in Jesmond to Newcastle we happened upon this bar called in on the way back, what a great find, pleasant staff serving, nice atmosphere, good service lovely cocktails, sat in the conservatory area which was light and airy, great outside area which is a great sun trap until mid-late afternoon. Only gripe was, another group nearby were vaping indoors, not a fan of smoking or vaping shouldn’t be allowed on the premises, mind you the staff never visited our table in the time we were there so didn’t see it either, maybe if they had it would have been stopped."

This pub advertises food being served 12-4 on Sundays. Today they had ‘run out of food’ in a half-full bar at 230pm. Disappointing.

Last night, we visited this pub for a friend's farewell party. It was previously known as the Brandling but has now been rebranded. The bar staff was friendly, offering a good selection of drinks, and the outdoor area was excellent with ample free parking available.

The food which is now known as Brandling Village Kitchen within the Dun Cow. We have ate here a number of times and as always is absolutely delicious. Fab beef. Great desert too. Lovely pub with lovely staff always taking time to have a quick chat. Go visit you won’t be disappointed

Wow! This Sunday was amazing. The food and drinks were excellent, served by a flawless team in a pub with a wonderfully friendly atmosphere. Overall, it was a fantastic family outing. This hidden gem definitely deserves recognition. Hats off to everyone involved, we will definitely be returning! View menu

Sadly this place has gone really down hill. Food was terrible, we had to send it back. White wine was warm, their answer was to load it with ice which just watered it down! When we complained it made no difference and we were just handed the bill!! We use to go here weekly but now wouldn’t go back again as the last few times have been awful!

This restaurant has undergone a positive change with the Brandling Village Kitchen taking over the kitchen. The food is fantastic - during my visit, I had a delicious roast beef Sunday lunch with thick slices of beef, flavorful Yorkshire puddings, and fresh crunchy vegetables all for a reasonable price of £9.95. The service was great, the atmosphere was friendly, and the restaurant is dog-friendly. I will definitely be returning!

We found this place on the Thursday afternoon during a weekend in Newcastle. This place is quite large but has a village local feel about it. We liked it so much we came back to have some food before going to a rugby match. The staff are friendly and efficient, especially the chef who prepared a meal for my partner that wasn’t on the menu as she is veggie and was struggling to make a choice. The food was good with well sized portions. I wish there was a pub like this close to where I live. View menu

The reason I say ‘Back On Form ‘ is like many pubs restaurants kitchen staff come and go which are reflected in feedback. I’ve experienced both good and indifferent, however since the return of the original chef and kitchen staff the food is consistently good. My recent Sunday lunch was excellent, tender beef and tasty fresh vegetables. I think it’s good value and as good as any I’ve had in recent months. Personally I like to try new places but it’s also nice to have a few reliable favourites to return to often, this is certainly one of them. Great Sunday Lunch

Giving this local bar and kitchen a third chance after some very iffy past experiences, we were quietly optimistic that things would have improved with new staff and menus. Sadly it was not to be. Played safe with two of the advertised pub classics ... fish and chips and gammon with eggs, chips and peas. The fish and chips were burned and oily, the gammon tough as old boots with more of the burned greasy chips. Add a dirty ketchup bottle and a sticky varnished table and no desserts to choose from as it ‘wasn’t a Sunday’ and you get the picture. Never again. No more chances.

"The place seems unprofessionally run. The staff all look like they could do with a bath. No overalls are worn and their clothes are all of the type that many would wear to lounge around the house in . Several have longer hair and beards but don’t wear any kitchen p.p.e. The decor is shabby and I wondered what kind of hygiene rating they would have. Although not busy, the staff seemed to be disorganised, falling over eachother and lacking in training. They seemed to handle the food in an inexperienced, clumsy fashion. The only tool I saw being used was a pizza peel for taking the pizza in and out of the oven. On all other occasions the food was handled. I didn’t notice any hand washing or alcohol gel in evidence. The menu is quite limited and uninspiring. 2 of the 6 pizza choices include chicken which Italians would argue is definite no no! All pizzas are reheated to order which eliminates the possibility of customisation. I don’t believe the restaurant would stand out in many European countries, as pizza in general is of a much higher standard than that in the UK. In spite of the above, The basic pizza is excellent in taste (even though it is all re-heated). And for this reason it is worth a visit. Compared to other uk pizza restaurants which are typically serving absolute garbage, the food is way out in front. If you can tolerate the negatives I’m sure you won’t be disappointed with the pizza. However with a bit of effort, this place could be transformed into something truly amazing."
