"2018 Oct : This place was recommended by a lady in our hotel. I don't know if it was because I was hungry for a long trip, but the food was great! Try better than it looks (which is not bad at all, below a beautiful street that looks past life. Only loses 1 star because the service, while very friendly, was a bit slow for us, as we have one under 2 minion with us who do not like to sit around for long, as our dinner usually looks like a food fight with our daughter! I need to catch up quickly before she's bored and standing on her high chair, like a mini-rock star screaming at passersby!! While mom and dad try to stop them, make a dive with just one table plate to catch them! (That happened a lot!) This place is also a touch price. 4x 1/2 beers, 2x coffee, Paella, Veg tempora, Steak, Croquettes, Aubergine and Tuna lasagna all came to €65....but we plan to go back! Everything is freshly tasty and beautifully cooked with a sprinkle of love."

Nice quiet place. Not the best food or service. Although ok.

Great service, good prices and a very good rice. Lunch menu is a good way to taste your dishes at a very reasonable price

We ate here on a midweek night in February. Alicante was quiet so we had plenty of choice and we chose El Suquet almost by chance. We had croquetas to start very nice, tasty and crisp. We then shared a dis of banda rice with gambas and cuttlefish. It was really delicious. We had one drink each. The bill was very reasonable. Service was friendly and efficient.

Yes, it’s in the middle of a vibrant and lively street but the food is average and slightly over priced for what you get. Paella was slightly underdone. I had the cod Very small with three bits of potato to accompany my fillet. Overall, an ok place but recommend getting off this strip and finding a spot in a quieter, less busy street if you are looking for a nice meal.

There is so many nice restaurants in Alicante and this just OK. Looks nice and is designed well but the service is slow and food is just ‘fine’. Waited 15 minutes for drinks to arrive. Did the two tapas for £20 and they missed some dishes off. Nothing tasted amazing. The fried dishes tasted funny like the oil needed changing in the fryers. Stella on draught is very strange considering the amazing selection of Spanish beers? Wouldn’t recommend as a ‘must try’ place in Alicante.

Skip this place! On a not-busy-night (no one even inside the dining room), they took forever to take our order, rarely checked in to see if we needed more drinks, etc., left out entire ingredients from our order (that we saw other diners get) and then told us several times that the included dessert wasn't really included. The wine pours were really small and when I ordered a second small beer, they brought (and charged me for) a big one instead. The food was just so-so. Some tapas were decent. Others were pretty uninspired. Literally 90% of the restaurants in the area would be a better choice.

I don't know about you but I just hate pushy waiters who try and grab you as you walk past and having several such experiences on this street, I was ready to leave when we spotted El Suquet where the waiting staff were ready to serve but not in your faces if you gave even a half glance in their direction. My wife and I enjoyed a very good quality tapas meal accompanied by a pleasant bottle of local rosada wine. We sat outside for a ringside view of the increasingly desperate attempts of the waiter at the neighbouring establishment to get people to sit at his tables before deciding to beat a hasty retreat when he successfully captured a large group of men on a stag party! El Suquet was a prof...
