"I've just eaten here. I asked the waitress what was vegan friendly and the waitress talked me through the menu. There was nothing she said non vegan that wouldn't have appeared so at 1st glance at the menu. Thus I had quite a bit to choose from. The menu and pricing goes based on the client chooses a platter based on the number of mezze dishes in the platter, It was £12.95 for the 3 mezze platter and 15.95 for the 5 mezze platter. I had the 5 mezze platter. I have to say it was delicious. each of the mezzes though wasn't overly so I am glad I went for the 5 as the 3 I don't think would have been enough. There bread and a little salad included. There's also a special all you can eat party platter at I think was £21.95. Delicious as the food was, it felt a little on the pricey side. 10% was added to the tab for the mezze (not for the drinks that while extra, didn't seem to incur the service charge). Thus if you are watching a tight budget, there's defo more economical alternatives elsewhere foodwise. If you are looking to put some booze away though, you could maybe save some cash utilsing that this place is BYOB. Decor and atmo were utterly fine as was the demeanour of the waitress. If I was eating with someone who refused to go to an all vego restaurant, I'd be happy to eat here again no problem at all. Otherwise it would be one of the nearby all vego restaurants in Edinburgh for me. If this place was all vego I'd defo rate it higher."

empires is a beautiful place. the resturant is beautifully decorated and has a wonderful, transparent atmosphere. eating is very delicious, and very good for sweet, but could have more options for vegans.

I love this place. Here during the festival. Amazing, great food, first-class perfect coffee (seriously great job). Loved the classic decor, beautiful atmosphere, very relaxed. Note that there are limited seats here, in safe time for dinner this place must jump.

What a great place! You feel in another country because of the atmosphere. Well decorated and beautiful music. Eating wise this place is a 10 out of 10, we ordered a 5 Meze plate each and that was more than enough to feel like we have one of the biggest meals ever.

beautiful restaurant that she greets with the smell of smokers, a beautiful atmosphere, and friendly staff, the vegan. we sat at the window cabin, which was fed with cushions and very comfortable. we ordered a bundle of mezes and our favorit was the fasulye that was a delicate green bean bowl that didn't need a naan to go with it. the ezme was also good as the humus. her mincetee was also delicious. we were too constipated for dessert! I came here with some friends and had some amazing vegan meze around 1/3 of the options on the menu were vegan and all the ones which I tried were amazing, especially the acili! The decor and atmosphere is wonderful, cosy and beautifully decorated, and the staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. They are happy for people to bring their own alcohol, and I highly recommend trying their lovely teas too. Updated from previous review on Tuesday January 22, 2013

this restaurant serves 4 types of Turkish mezzenplatte. a vegan, a veggie, a meat based and a dips based (which may have been veggie friendly, may not quite remember.) all mezzenplatte come with a basket of pitta. kudos for a delicious vegan option. I wrote a picture of what I had. 2 falafels, 2 dolmades, artichokes, hummus, warm green beans in tomato sauce and salate. the food was filled and delicious. the stick for me was the price at £14 per plate, it does not feel worth that for such basic foods. if it were half the price, I would highly recommend.

This is a very special place, I often choose here for my birthday or if there is something big to celebrate! It is a small eastern/Turkish restaurant with a cozy and intimate atmosphere. They have served a huge menu with all dishes tapas style, and designed to share. Absolutely everything on the menu is incredibly delicious, my own personal favorites are the lamb moussaka and the baklava. It is BYOB so make sure to bring a bottle of wine or two with you and also bring cash because they are often unable to accept payment by card. The staff is super friendly and very helpful with food recommendations. I can't wait to come back! View menu

At a loss where I eat and my girlfriend suggested Turkish, seen as we never had... So glad she did. The staff, I suppose the big guy was the boss, was very attentive. Before I even had 2 sips of my Turkish beer (which was nice and easy) our food was here?! I thought the records they offer were too much, but it was just right. It wasn't hot either, so you could fit in right. Between us we had the veggie and not veggie plated and loved every part of it. Great interior while waiting for your food for the whole 2 seconds. £40 for two plates and 2 beers, somewhat more than expected, but it is worth recommending this place very much.
