"After being away for a while, we decided to take our grandchildren to Southend to visit the pier and have a fun day. On the way there, the speed limits kept changing between 50, 40, 30, and 20mph. Luckily, my car is equipped to recognize speed limit signs and automatically adjust the speed accordingly. However, the constant beeping near speed cameras meant we couldn't even listen to the radio. Parking was pricey at £3.50 per hour for on-street parking, and the process of paying was even more challenging. None of the pay stations accepted credit or debit cards, and we were informed by a friendly traffic warden that only the app on a smartphone works reliably. Since we didn't have the app and couldn't download it, we had to cut our trip short and head back home. Despite the difficulties, we still had a great day out."

Lucy looked after us so well, superb food (some of the best mussels I have had), and savage banter..

We went to see the seals and they were amazing. My kids loved watching them. I definitely recommend it. We all had a great time.

Spent an afternoon watching a band and had a really nice time in the company of like minded people. The staff were friendly and attentive prices not too bad either

Place was miserable, now to add to the disappointment unless a marina berth holder you must pay to park here, and its not cheap. Had a drink then left without food. View menu

My wife and I have gone to the Wardroom about 5 times this year. Always a very friendly welcome, which we really appreciate. Good food and drinks and very clean. My wife loves good coffee and rates what they serve very highly.

We had a delightful breakfast at this restaurant this morning. There were four of us and we all really enjoyed our meals. The smoked haddock was fantastic. We can't wait to come back for more delicious food and excellent service.

Whilst out for a walk at the nearby RSPB reserve we stumbled across The Wardroom for a welcome coffee. As the food menu looked very enticing, we went back for lunch after finishing our walk. The food and beer were excellent! Also live music was there on a Saturday afternoon. A great find, we will be back. View menu

Went with a few friends for drinks which is a really nice spot for drinks however when a friend asked about the gluten free options was greeted with a comment of “she must know what she can have”. This put a downer on the drinks and after one drink we left due to myself feeling very unwelcome and uncomfortable by this comment. I don’t believe they had any alternatives. Some of the group ate and the food did look really good but not ideal for any allergens.

Very friendly staff and amazing view over the river Crouch. Drinks great. Food fine if you don't have any food intolerances. However, if you don't eat gluten you're going to starve, and there is no alternative option. There are a couple of vegan meals, but no non dairy milk for coffee, no non dairy non gluten desserts. Such a shame they are behind the times with regard to this, as its such a great little place. It doesn't take much to keep non gluten bread in the freezer, buy vegan ice cream and get a couple of cartons of oat milk in.

"I recently had the pleasure of dining at SoPa Thai, and it was truly a delightful experience! The moment I walked in, the atmosphere transported me to a world of Thai sophistication and allure. The culinary exploration began with Tom Kha, a delightful combination of coconut milk, galangal, and lemongrass. Each spoonful was a delicious harmony of creamy and zesty flavors that perfectly complemented the tender chicken pieces. It wasn't just soup; it felt like a warm embrace in a bowl. Next, the beautifully presented Green Curry arrived. The curry was a work of art, filled with the richness of green chilies and fragrant basil leaves. The vegetables were fresh, and the chicken was incredibly tender, all bathed in a sauce that was the perfect blend of spicy and sweet. Then came the highlight of the evening, Pad Thai. The noodles were coated in a flavorful tamarind sauce, mixed with eggs, tofu, and a generous sprinkling of crushed peanuts. The dish was a delightful mix of textures and flavors that left my taste buds amazed. The grand finale was the Mango and Sticky Rice. The mango was ripe and sweet, a wonderful complement to the warm yet slightly salty sticky rice. Drizzled with coconut milk, this dessert was not just a treat but a festival of flavors. In summary, SoPa Thai is more than just a restaurant; it's a culinary paradise. Each dish showcased the chef's expertise in balancing flavors and textures. If you're in search of an authentic Thai dining experience, SoPa Thai is the place to go. Their Tom Kha, Green Curry, Pad Thai, and Mango Sticky Rice take you on a journey through the heart of Thailand. I highly recommend it!"
