"My husband and I stayed at the castle as a way of celebrating our wedding anniversary. The stay itself was lovely. Unfortunately, I wish I could say the same about our experience in the Castle View restaurant. I had emailed the restaurant prior to our stay to ask if we could bring a bottle of champagne to the table as it was a present for our anniversary. I did not receive a reply so we didn’t take the bottle with us. When we arrived at our table there was an ice bucket waiting for us. We asked why it was there to be told that it was for our champagne. I explained that we didn’t need it as no one had bothered to reply to my email. We were then told that the restaurant would have charged us a £27 corkage fee! A few pounds I can understand but £27, that’s ridiculous and we most certainly wouldn’t have taken them up on the offer. We then ordered a bottle of wine and our meal (all part of the package). The lady who served us was very polite and friendly and I have no complaints about her at all. The starter arrived but no sign of our wine. That eventually turned up when we had finished the starter. It wasn’t what we had ordered so we had to have a replacement and, there was no wine cooler. This, I had to ask for. The main course arrived which quite frankly was not particularly pleasant. Both my husband and I had ordered the chicken due to a very limited menu. I ate very little of my dinner. We didn’t complain as it had nothing to do with the cooking of the food, it just wasn’t up to the standard one would expect when dining in a castle restaurant and, considering that the charge for the main course were £24 each, we expected better quality. We then decided to pay the extra £8 for a desert as we were still hungry. I ordered the ice cream; £8 for three small scoops of ice cream was pretty harsh. We also had breakfast the next morning as part of our package. The breakfast itself was lovely but the service was very slow. This was extremely worrying as we had to check out by 10.00 which, in my opinion was too early. The staff, although friendly bar one, take far too long to take orders. We also witnessed a bird fouling one of the outside chairs. This was reported to a member of staff who wasn’t in the slightest bit bothered. I pity the poor guest that ended up sitting on the seat! Overall, a wonderful experience at the castle, grounds and accommodation but very disappointing in the restaurant. A shame, as this really lets the castle down and, for this reason, we will not be returning or recommending."

Booked this venue for an 80th birthday and has been cancelled by the restaurant in favour of a larger private function. Totally unprofessional, and very inconsiderate. Suggested we book for a different date. Can't really change the date of the birthday. Very disappointed

We were staying at the castle so booked dinner one night here. Start were attentive and provided great service. The menu had plenty to choose from for meat and vegetarian diners. It’s a set priced menu. Food was tasty. We felt as if we had a long wait between courses but our view is that food was freshly cooked . I recommend booking .

We were with a large family group and everyone complained about something they had been served. The roast potatoes and vegetables were dreadful and extremely salty. At least the head waiter had the good sense to not charge anyone for their main course.Thank you for that. Also very long walk for the elderly from the car park. Must have caught them on a bad night, but certainly won't be visiting again.

I stayed with my other half at Leeds Castle for three days and dinner at the restaurant was excellent. We were very impressed by the service that Meghan and Lauren provided. I asked my other half to be my girlfriend and the staff went above and beyond to provide an unforgettable moment. Many thanks to them for making this moment even more special. In addition to the great food, the restaurant offers an amazing view over the Leeds Castle

We were staying weekend in holiday cottage in the grounds which was lovely. Unfortunately low point was Sunday roast in restaurant, having eaten here before we expected a good meal. Firstly the veggie option was below par literally a piece of sweet potato in puff pastry which didn’t seem to have any seasoning or other ingredients. The meat was served first to others on the table but a long wait before accompanying vegetables arrived which meant several people had cold meat. Other than that the service was satisfactory just a shame it was let down by issues that could be easily addressed

We came back in October 2023 for a small family gathering and had the roast, which was shockingly horrendous and we were refunded. After hearing so many positive comments from friends and family recently, we decided to attempt the roast again… and I am so glad we did! We had the roast ham and roast beef, both meats were cooked to perfection. Roast potatoes and vegetables were plentiful and we loved how they were served in sharing bowls. The Yorkshire puddings were delicious and the broccoli cheese was just divine! On this occasion we were too full for a dessert. 5 stars to the chef! It was delicious and restored our faith in returning!

We were staying at Leeds Castle and this was the breakfast included in the price. We also tried dinner. Good ambiance and superb views over the castle especially at night. Breakfast avoid the smashed avocado the poached eggs were solid and the pureed avocado was awful. We send it back. The 'help yourself ' cooked breakfast wasn 't too bad but, come on, why are you providing stone cold plates??? No plate warmer in sight! Evening meal was overpriced, I couldn 't get my fork into the vegetables, unimpressive chicken and trout and we decided to avoid the restaurant for the rest of our stay. A mention for the staff who were pleasant and served us well.

For such a prestigious venue the experience in the restaurant was very badly let down by poor customer service due to lack of training. Apart from an initial friendly welcome it went downhill. Firstly it took ages to get our drinks and it was very difficult to attract anyone's attention and the restaurant was not full. We also asked for a jug of water to be informed there it was a self service. We ordered speciality salads and fries. The waitress did not notate these. The food and drinks were very nice but the 2 sides of fries never arrived. With no waitresses in sight it was not possible to ask for the missing items. Furthermore no one came to ask if we wanted any more drinks, dessert, coff...

"I feel a bit bad about writing this, but for the first time ever there 's only 1 star and probably the longest comments I 've left. We arrived around 12:15 on a September Thursday after having a walk hungry, we fancied a pub lunch. Staff were pleasant if a bit rushed the young lady behind the bar was on her own and doing the best she could. Several things were off the menu, but we ordered a Curry of the day (Thai Green on this occasion) and sausage mash with gravy. Difficult things to screw up... After a reasonable wait, two small dishes appeared. The Thai Curry was tiny, containing a few small bits of grilled chicken in a fairly anaemic sauce, with a small amount of plain white rice on the side; the two sausages were quite small and on a small bed of mash surrounded by gravy. Both dishes were stone cold. We sent them back. Frankly, if we hadn 't paid in advance, I 'd have left at that point. A few minutes later they re appeared, along with a small dish of sweet chilli sauce and 3 small prawn crackers, two of which were not properly cooked (still solid in parts, i.e. not cooked hot or long enough). The sausages were now hot, the mash lukewarm and the gravy cloying and still pretty cold. Being fair, the very small sausages were quite tasty, but the mash was under/not seasoned and the gravy had little flavour, no onion or anything even vaguely interesting, and was still cold. The curry was a disgrace. The rice was flaccid and tasteless, the curry had almost no flavour and the chicken was watery, and pretty grim (tasteless too). Tiny portion as well. We left the curry. I did eat the sausage mash as I was really hungry, but in retrospect wished I hadn 't. I almost never leave food anywhere in the world, but I left that curry. I 'm not sure how dishes that bad could be let out of any kitchen. We complained to the waitress (who was doing her best) she asked us not to leave and a minute or two later refunded our main courses with an apology. I felt for her as she was doing her best as front of house when the kitchen was a shocker. Note that we didn 't ask for a refund or even hint, they just provided it. I 've never asked for a refund. It 's sad, as these days rural pubs need to do things right, but this wasn 't just small things; everything they could have done wrong with those two dishes they did wrong. Nothing cooked from fresh, nothing checked before leaving the kitchen, tasteless food, tiny portions, cold."
