"Finbarr's is the best restaurant in Durham. Although the city isn't particularly known for its culinary scene, Finbarr's would hold its own anywhere. The food is fantastic—well-prepared and paired with a great wine list. The wild game and duck are excellent, and the local seafood and the delicious haggis Scotch egg are a must-try. For dessert, the soufflé and mousse are simply delightful. The bread is also very good. While the service was a bit inconsistent—one waitress seemed to be having an off day, but she warmed up by the evening—it didn't take away from the overall experience. We definitely plan to return."

Nice atmosphere, friendly but somewhat slow service. High quality tasty food and lots of screens between tables. Would recommend!

I visited on November 21st, and I was really impressed. The staff was exceptionally attentive, and the atmosphere in the restaurant was warm and welcoming. The prices were incredibly reasonable given the high quality of the food and service. They truly excel in every aspect!

the best restaurant in durham (admittedly, the city is not famous for its kitchen, but finbarr’s would be considered good in every location.) great food, well cooked and a good wine list. excellent wild and duck, local seafood and tasty haggis scotch eier. yummy souffle and mousse had been offered for dessert. really good brot. service not very slender we will return.

The main dish I had was a Scotch rift, and it was absolutely delicious. The starter, baptismal breast, was quite good, but the other elements on the plate were just average. The presentation was quite outdated. The dining room, located upstairs, felt very claustrophobic. Overall, the atmosphere was rather unpleasant. If you close your eyes and concentrate solely on the food, you might enjoy the meal more; otherwise, you could find a better-decorated restaurant nearby.

We were a party of 9 at a work Christmas Dinner and were very well looked after. Restaurant is gorgeous inside, very elegant. The bar was cosy (a little too warm at one point with 9 of us, but we had fun). Drinks are reasonably priced for a place like this. Service was friendly and efficient (especially the lady looking after us in the room upstairs). Food was delicious steaks were perfectly cooked, chips crisp and desserts tasty. Cheese croquettes could serve a couple instead of one. Steak could be accompanied by a few more fries too (the fish cakes got lots though). Great meal overall and excellent service.

"started really well and went to the counter and ordered a cream with bananas and nutella and especially gave no earthberries I also asked after a san pelegríno still water as this was on the menu. I was the first person to order and the last to eat at the end. I brought my water over which was a cheaper brand water I just had £2 for what I would like to have seen? we will, when asked for san pelligrino to say water that they do not in. Finally my crepe and I take a bite and understand that it is earthly on the whole species and wise by which I am allergic. one of my family members takes it back and says that I have asked for bananas, there is no earthly reason why I cannot eat it and did not want it on my crepe. then 5 minutes later another crêpe comes out, who was my bite crêpe, that someone had put the earthy and banan in the bananas. disgusting ... not sure whether this was a mistake or just stingy either as it did not. it is then returned because there is no way I eat, and it is explained again, there is a reason that I can not eat strawberries, to which then one of the owners passes to serve the right crepe and apology. I really hope that today a lection has been learned because cross-contamination is not a sweat. please be careful when they eat there. I didn't get any refunds offered, but then they were ready to serve me a bite crawl, so it didn't surprise me so much."
